‘Snow White And The Huntsman’: What We Know So Far

We take a look back at how this Kristen Stewart/ Charlize Theron fractured fairy tale came to be. By Kevin P. Sullivan Kristen Stewart in “Snow White and the Huntsman” Photo: Universal Pictures After what has seemed like a very long wait, we finally have the first trailer for “Snow White and the Huntsman.” The trailer’s insane visuals won over movie fans when it premiered Thursday, and anticipation for the June 1 release is higher than ever before. But it’s important to remember how we got to this point. “Snow White and the Huntsman” traveled a long road filled with casting rumors, on-set injuries and rival productions, and as we celebrate the release of the trailer, let’s take a look back at everything that’s happened up until this point: Casting Calls For a long time, “Snow White and the Huntsman” was centered on the casting of Charlize Theron as Ravenna and Viggo Mortensen as the Huntsman, but even before then, talk had involved Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie . Negotiations to get Mortensen into the picture eventually broke down. Kristen Stewart joined the equation soon afterward . Eventually, Chris Hemsworth got the nod, giving us the cast we see today . Rival Projects You’ve most likely heard by now, but we are in the midst of a full-out Snow White war. Two productions based on the classic fairy tale are slated to hit theaters next year, within three months of each other, nonetheless. Though the recently titled “Mirror, Mirror,” starring Lily Collins and Julia Roberts , will be aimed at a much younger audience, according to director Tarsem Singh, such closely related projects are bound to draw comparisons. Earlier in development, the struggle came down to which movie would make it out of the gate first, the win ultimately going to “Mirror, Mirror,” which hits in March. We’ll just have to see which Snow White is the fairest of them all. The Injury A single tweet from “SWATH” co-star Max Manganello set off a wave of panic among Kristen Stewart fans . “It’s a wrap for today. Kristen has hurt herself … nothing scary. We shoot on Friday,” the tweet read, but that was enough to set the Internet abuzz with rumors about the injury. In the end, it came out that Stewart had torn a ligament during a fight scene with the dwarves. Luckily, Stewart recovered, and filming wrapped without incident. About That Time Clint Eastwood Pulled a Fast One on Armie Hammer

Leonardo DiCaprio tried his best to buck Clint Eastwood’s reputation as a one-take director but it turns out that his J. Edgar co-star Armie Hammer had a totally difference experience than the leisurely ten-take routine described at last week’s press conference. “There would be takes that we did where I was under the impression we were shooting a rehearsal,” Hammer told Moviefone . “Or that the cameras weren’t even on … and that’s what we used. At one point he was like, “OK, cut, print.” And I was like, “Whoa, whoa, Clint, I had my sides in my hands, I thought we were just rehearsing that.” [ Moviefone ]

In Dreams: Celebrity Nudes on DVD and Blu-ray 11-8-11 [PICS]

We’ve got the fluff dreams are made of nude on Blu-ray this week, from Angelina Jolie as a scorching Sapphic supermodel in the unrated version of Gia (1998), Isabella Rossellini fully nude in the kinky cult classic Blue Velvet (1986), and the undead, undressed working girls of Frankenhooker (1990). Plus, style reigns in the arty neo-noir One in the Gun (2010) and Catherine Breillat ‘s equally atmospheric The Sleeping Beauty (2010), both nude on DVD. The Change-Up (2011) is also new on DVD and Blu-ray, but proceed at your own risk: those funbags are CGI fakes: When a woman is as gorgeous, sexually charged, and self-consumed as supermodel Gia Carangi was, it’s hard to imagine her rolling out of bed and looking into a dressing-room mirror without stopping to slip a hand into her swampy delta and strumming the bean while feasting her eyes on her immaculate self. Honestly, what could compel such a perfect creature to do anything other than loll stoned all day in bed with tweaking fingers trading off duty on nipples and love nub? The answer, according to the singularly sexy biopic Gia (1998), is that only another chick of equal, complementary appeal- future superstar superstar Angelina Jolie – can capture the attention and motivate the affections of such a splendid narcissist. Take a long, hard look. Could you possibly have behaved differently, if you were her? What evil lurks in the grasslands of American suburbia? A severed ear crawling with ants, drug-sniffing Dennis Hopper , and a full-frontal Isabella Rossellini , that’s what, at least in the world conjured by loon director David Lynch in Blue Velvet (1986). Teen sleuth Kyle MacLachlan solves a twisted mystery by endangering his mind, body, and soul in a world of kinky, nightmarish freaks along the way. If you like your women stark raving mad and completely starkers, then say hello to Isabella’s bouncing sisters and their bearded cousin running naked and turning Blue Velvet into a blue movie. The splatterific cult classic Frankenhooker (1990) follows med-school dropout Jeffrey Franken ( James Lorinz ) as he cruises the red-light district looking for prostitutes to supply his girlfriend’s ( Patty Mullen ) decapitated but still living head with a stitched-together body using his new invention, “supercrack”, as bait. Fast-forward to the 1 hour mark, where Patty bares her frankentush and frankenhooters for a john, then franenstraddles, frankenrubs, and frankenslays the poor bastard. Look for a whole bevy of topless hookers, including Vicki Darnell and Jennifer Delora in a supercrack-fueled orgy in a hotel room. Take a twisty, turny stroll down neo-noir lane in the LA thriller One in the Gun (2010). Surrealism and Lynchian ambiance are the order of the day in this tale of Mickey Lewis ( Steven Man ), a down-on-his-luck artist who is hired to paint the home of seductive millionaire Katrina Webb ( Katherine Randolph ). A series of double, triple, even quadruple-crosses lead Mickey to a fateful desert motel filled with secrets about his past, present and future. Femme fatales Katherine Randolph and Kristina Coolish kick things up a notch or ten by appearing fully nude, Kristina at the 20 minute mark and Katherine 24 minutes in. Add some skintillating T&A from Kika Perez, and you’ve got a slice of skinema that’ll really cock your trigger. The classic fairy tale gets the sexy treatment you’d expect from director Catherine Breillat in The Sleeping Beauty (2010). When princess Anastasia ( Julia Artamonov ) was born, an evil witch decreed that she’d die at an early age; three good witches tried to reverse the curse, but the best they could do is cause her to fall asleep at age six, only to awaken a hundred years later at the physical age of sixteen. When Anastasia finally awakens, she has steamy affairs with both a gypsy girl ( Rhizlaine El Cohen ) and young nobleman Johan ( David Chausse ). Julia gives us a lingering look at her love muffins lying in bed with her lady love 1 hour, 9 minutes in, and again with her guy 1 hour, 15 minutes in. That’ll give you some sweet, sweet dreams! Two best friends swap bodies after peeing in a magic fountain in the comedy The Change-Up (2011). Dave Lockwood ( Jason Bateman ) is an uptight family man who longs for the freedom skinjoyed by his freewheeling single buddy Mitch Planko ( Ryan Reynolds ). But Mitch also envies his buddy’s stable life, and after a night out discussing this very issue the inebriated twosome stop to pee in a fountain before heading home. That pee turns out to be the diddle of destiny when, the next morning, Mitch and Dave awaken to find they’ve switched bodies. Leslie Mann (left) appears to make her nude debut baring boobs as Dave’s long-suffering wife, and Olivia Wilde similarly appears to show some suckle stalk underneath her long black hair as she mounts Mitch/Dave, but don’t be fooled. Those ta-tas are CGI imposters added in post-production. And that’s a change-up we can’t get behind. Soderbergh at AFI Fest: Angelina Jolie Meets Steven Seagal in Haywire’s Gina Carano

AFI Fest ‘s “secret” screening of Steven Soderbergh ‘s Haywire wasn’t so much a showcase for the AFI darling as it was a coming out party for MMA bruiser-cum-action heroine Gina Carano, whom Soderbergh glimpsed fighting one night on TV and subsequently built a star-studded spy thriller pic around. But it’s hard to say if first-time actor Carano will branch out in a film career beyond the often lo-fi action experiment. Is she a hybrid of Angelina Jolie and Steven Seagal , as Soderbergh suggested Sunday night? Or is there more of a Cynthia Rothrock quality to Carano’s steely gaze and powerhouse physicality?
