Queen Elizabeth II was hospitalized today at London’s King Edward VII Hospital, Palace sources confirm to E! News, for symptoms related to gastroenteritis. Her Highness is expected to remain under physician care for about 48 hours for this stomach infection, says press officer James Roscoe. “She went to the hospital today at around 3 p.m. GMT. She is in good spirits, besides the symptoms of gastroenteritis,” Roscoe says . “Doctors are saying she should be in hospital for a couple days.” The 86-year old monarch has canceled a trip to Rome as a result of the illness. In his first extensive interview since losing the Presidential election to Barack Obama, Mitt Romney told Chris Matthews this morning that he only has himself to blame for not taking the White House. “I lost my election because of my campaign,” Romney said on Fox News Sunday . “Not because of what anyone else did.” Mitt Romney on Fox News Sunday Romney cited his failure to win over African-American and Hispanic voters, while also zeroing in on his ” 47 percent ” comments as being detrimental to his bid. Admitting that it “kills” him not to be President, Romney also had a few choice words for the man who is: “He didn’t think the sequester would happen,” he said. “It is happening. To date, what we’ve seen is the president out campaigning to the American people, doing rallies around the country, flying around the country and berating Republicans and blaming and pointing. “Now, what does that do? That causes the Republicans to retrench and to put up a wall and to fight back.” Ann Romney, meanwhile, was not as deferential about the basis for her husband’s defeat. She squarely pointed a finger at the fourth estate. “It was not just the campaign’s fault,” Ann told Fox News. “I believe it was the media’s fault as well, in that he was not being given a fair shake, that people weren’t allowed to really see him for who he was. I’m happy to blame the media.” She then concluded by focusing on the same current issue plaguing the government: “I totally believe at this moment, if Mitt were there in the office, that we would not be facing sequestration right now.”
Yahoo News’ Washington bureau chief David Chalian has been fired after a shocking remark he made about Mitt Romney and his wife Ann was caught on camera. Chalian was overheard saying that the Romneys were “not concerned at all” about Hurricane Issac and are “happy to have a party with black people drowning.” Chalian seemed to be referring to the Republican National Convention taking place in Tampa just as the Category 1 storm barreled across the Gulf of Mexico. Yesterday, Yahoo announced it was firing Chalian, “effective immediately.”
