‘The distance between us was just too much,’ James says of living in different cities. By Jocelyn Vena Jesse James and Kat Von D Photo: John Shearer/WireImage Nearly six months after announcing they’d be tying the knot, Jesse James and Kat Von D announced that they have ended their engagement. Kat made the announcement on her Twitter page, where she released the following statement: “I am no longer w Jesse, and out of respect for him, his family and myself, that’s all the info I’d like to share. Thanks for respecting that.” Meanwhile, James released a statement to , citing the fact that she lives in Los Angeles and he lives in Austin with his three kids as a reason for their breakup. “I’m so sad because I really love her,” he said. “The distance between us was just too much.” They had been planning a summer wedding to mark the one-year anniversary of their relationship. Earlier this year, when they announced their plans to marry, they gushed about one another. “You know, sometimes the public and press gets it wrong,” James said. “This is one of those times. 2010 was actually the best year of my life because I fell in love with my best friend. An amazing woman who stood behind me when the world turned their backs. “I have never met anyone so kind and loving and committed to making the world a better place every day,” he continued. “My love for her is beyond description. So honored that she said ‘yes.’ Growing old with her is going to be a f—in’ blast!” Von D, however, did mention the distance at the time. “There is no one else for me. He’s the one,” she said. “Having two places we call home will be good for now. In the end, home is where the heart is, and my heart’s with him.” The couple began dating in the summer of 2010, shortly after James’ very public divorce from Oscar winner Sandra Bullock was finalized in June. James made headlines when it was reported shortly after Bullock’s Oscar win that he had cheated on her.
It takes a lot to surprise Hollywood and those, such as THG, who cover it for a living. But our staff is still rubbing our collective jaw after it slammed to the ground in response to the news that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were filing for divorce . What went wrong for the couple that appeared to happy together on the American Idol finale? Did another man enter the picture ? No, says a source. The split was simply due to “months of nonstop arguing.” As a result of this fighting, “Marc and Jennifer decided it’s best to go their separate ways for the sake of their two kids,” the insider tells People . We haven’t heard much from the former couple since the announcement was made, though Anthony made a reference to being “single” while on stage in Colombia on Saturday. Lopez, meanwhile, was spotted at at Milk Studios in Los Angeles yesterday, shooting an ad campaign for her Kohl’s fashion line. Says this friend; “Jennifer is doing okay,” the source says. “She is, of course, sad that she and Marc didn’t work out, but they both feel they have tried everything.” [Photo: WENN.com]
Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer all are working on films. By Terri Schwartz Lea Michele Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images Life is changing for the cast of “Glee,” both onscreen and off. Thursday’s Emmy nominations were kind to the cast, but creator Ryan Murphy’s announcement Wednesday that leads Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer will exit the show after the third season came as a bit of a shock to the actors involved. Apparently, neither Colfer nor Monteith was aware that their time with Fox’s hit musical show would be ending so soon, though they did know their characters would be written off at some point to coincide with their impending high school graduations. “I didn’t necessarily know that it was going to be our last season next year,” Colfer told “Access Hollywood” . “I knew something like that was coming up eventually. I mean, we can’t be there forever. I don’t necessarily want to leave so soon, but it’s fine. It’s what it is, and all things come to an end.” Fortunately, things are on an upswing for Colfer. He earned his second Emmy nomination for the show Thursday, and after winning the Golden Globe earlier this year for his performance, there’s a good chance he’ll be taking Emmy gold home come September 18. Then, Friday morning (July 15), there was the announcement that “Mad Men” star Christina Hendricks will be joining Colfer in his upcoming film project “Struck by Lightning,” which he both wrote and stars in. Sarah Hyland of “Modern Family” and “My Best Friend’s Wedding” actor Dermot Mulroney jumped onboard as well. Colfer also can look forward to the release of “Glee: The 3D Concert Movie,” coming August 12. The trailer for the film debuted online Thursday. The three exiting “Glee” stars all seem to be remaining optimistic about their upcoming departure. “We always knew we’d graduate in real time. It’s all part of the plan and it’s all good! It’s going to make Season 3 amazing!!!” Michele tweeted after the announcement hit the web. Both she and Monteith also have upcoming film projects. Michele has a role in Garry Marshall’s ensemble rom-com “New Year’s Eve,” filming now, and Monteith has the upcoming “Sisters & Brothers” in addition to his recently released “Monte Carlo.” Then there’s also the rumor, courtesy of RumorFix.com , that Michele and Colfer will be receiving their own spin-off show. Were you surprised by the “Glee” announcement? Sound off below!
Singer’s manager, Guy Oseary, confirms her plans to begin recording next month. By Jocelyn Vena Madonna Photo: Getty Move over Gaga and Britney, the Queen of Pop is back! Madonna has confirmed that she will begin work on her next album this summer. Her longtime manager, Guy Oseary, took to Twitter to share the news that Madge will hit the studio in July. “Madonna goes into the recording studio next month to begin work on new album …,” he wrote, sharing little else about what the Material Girl has up her sleeve. But Oseary did have a few little nuggets of information for Madge’s most devoted, writing, “She has a good idea of which producers she will be working with … lots of questions about what kind of music it will be … stay tuned.” This announcement comes six months after Madonna teased her fans with the prospect of beginning work on her next album on her Facebook page. In December, she wrote, “Its official! I need to move. I need to sweat. I need to make new music! Music I can dance to. I’m on the lookout for the maddest, sickest, most badass people to collaborate with. I’m just saying …” Since releasing Hard Candy back in 2008, Madonna has been keeping busy doing everything but recording new music. OK, she did release a greatest hits album, Celebration, in 2009, but it seems her focus has been on anything but music. She wrapped up work on her movie “W.E.,” which was just picked up by the Weinstein Company. She also launched a clothing line with her daughter, Lourdes, aptly titled Material Girl, and even found time to open up her own line of gyms around the world called Hard Candy . Toronto MC slipped the date in a post linking to new track ‘Marvin’s Room.’ By Rob Markman Drake Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage Drake can have just about any woman he wants, but on his new song “Marvin’s Room,” the Young Money rep has his eye on another man’s squeeze. It’s unclear whether the track, released on Thursday (June 9), will appear on Drake’s upcoming Take Care, but in the post accompanying the song on his October’s Very Own blog , Drizzy writes, “Another piece of the story. Single coming in July. Take Care coming Oct. 24th.” The “another piece of the story” in Drake’s message likely refers to a May 20 post in which he dropped “Dreams Money Can Buy.” The Toronto MC wrote of “Dreams,” “Not my single. Just a piece of my story.” But for fans eagerly awaiting his sophomore album, the announcement that it will drop on the 24th of October required no deciphering. “Marvin’s Room” opens with a phone conversation between a young lady and an unheard party. The young lady explains that she went out to a couple of clubs, came home and then “went to bed.” The story begins to unfold with Drake’s opening lyrics: “Cups of the ros

It’s official. As expected, the Atlanta Thrashers are packing their bags and moving to Winnipeg, Canada. True North Sports and Entertainment, the Canadian group that has been negotiating to buy the NHL hockey team since mid-May, made the announcement at a news conference today in Winnipeg, reports the AJC.com . The Thrashers began play as an expansion team in 1999 in then-new Philips Arena. The team also had the most diverse lineup in the NHL, but the team also lost millions of dollars every year and struggled to fill seats in Phillips despite having a noticeable contingent of passionate fans. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman told reporters that he regretted seeing Atlanta lose its second NHL franchise. The Flames left Atlanta for Calgary in 1980. The agreement must now be approved by the NHL Board of Governors, which is scheduled to meet on June 21. A 75-percent vote is required to ratify a change of ownership and a 50-percent vote is required to approve a franchise relocation. Atlanta Spirit — which owns the Thrashers and Hawks — has been trying to sell the Thrashers for years. The company claims that they tried to keep the team in Atlanta but failed to find a buyer willing to keep the team in Atlanta. Read the full story at the AJC.com .
