This is still happening , NYC? Police shot and killed an armed man whose girlfriend said had gone outside in his pajamas to check on a possible break-in at his Brooklyn home Thursday night. Dwayne Browne, 27, was shot once in the chest about 10:40 p.m. outside 943 Schenck Ave. in East New York and died at Brookdale Hospital at 11:46 p.m., police said. “The officers told me they had to shoot him,” said his girlfriend, who gave only her first name, Juanita. “They kept calling him the shooter. The officer said, ‘I’m sorry. It was one of us. But he wouldn’t put the gun down.’” Juanita said she hadn’t seen him with a gun. But Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne, the NYPD’s top spokesman, said a firearm was recovered at the scene. A police source said Dwayne Browne was shot by an officer who responded to a scuffle outside the two-family home. The source said the scuffle involved two men trying to force a third person through the front door. City Councilman Charles Barron (D-Brooklyn), who said he was briefed by police, said a woman who witnessed that confrontation called 911 and later told cops the duo ran away as officers were arriving. Juanita said she and Browne were watching “The Resident,” a thriller, when they heard noises outside. “He looked through the blinds before he went downstairs,” she said. “He said he saw two people running away. It sounded like someone was trying to break in. He went downstairs to check it out. I heard one gunshot. “He came back upstairs and he was bleeding,” she said. “He looked at me and said, ‘Baby, I’ve been shot.’” At that point, Juanita said, cops rushed into the apartment and one officer pointed a gun at her head and refused to help Browne. “His chest was moving up and down,” she remembered. “He was fighting for his life. “They wouldn’t help him.” Shoot first, ask questions last, huh? This is such a horrible tragedy. Police in a quiet Fort Worth suburb worked Monday to piece together a family history after a man dressed in a Santa Claus suit apparently shot six relatives and himself on Christmas. Grapevine police spokesman Sgt. Robert Eberling said the shooter showed up in the costume shortly before gunfire erupted and that the family appeared to have been opening Christmas presents. Police responding to a 911 call found four females and three males dead. They also found two handguns. “We think he was just inside there celebrating Christmas with the rest of them and decided for whatever reason that’s how he’s going to end things,” Eberling told The Associated Press. Investigators worked through Sunday night and into Monday morning, meticulously searching the apartment where the bodies were found, along with vehicles parked outside. Police said they believe the victims were related, though some were visiting and didn’t live in the apartment. Eberling said investigators were assembling a “family history,” and that the apartment was leased to a woman and her two children, one age 15 and the other either 19 or 20. He would not give other specifics. “We’re getting a clearer picture, but we’re not ready to go on the record with anything until we find out from the medical examiner absolute confirmation of identities and the manner of death,” Eberling said. Autopsies of the shooter and the victims were being done Monday by the Tarrant County medical examiner, but it would probably be Tuesday before their identities were released, he said. Roger Metcalf, a spokesman for the medical examiner’s office, said the victims have been tentatively identified, but the office couldn’t confirm the names because the state driver’s license fingerprint database wasn’t available on the holiday. “In addition, we need to locate next of kin before information can be released, and our investigators are working on that as well,” Metcalf wrote in an email to the AP. Late Sunday evening, police intently searched a sport utility vehicle parked outside the apartment. The vehicle is registered to a man who listed his residence as a home two miles away in the neighboring suburb of Colleyville. Thomas Ehrlich, who lives near the home in Colleyville, told the AP he heard from neighbors that police went to the house Sunday. He said he believed the man and woman who once lived there were estranged. Records show the couple had financial problems and that their home, most recently valued on the county tax rolls at $336,200, had been sold in 2010 at a foreclosure auction – although it appeared the man was still living there. “I actually saw him out doing yard work just last weekend,” Ehrlich said. Spa manager Leah Langford said she became concerned when the man’s wife didn’t show up for work Monday at the business where she had been employed for four years. Langford said she got no response when she called the woman’s cell phone, nor could she learn anything when she went to the Colleyville home and the Grapevine apartment. “For somebody who’s always early to work and who never misses a day of work, we expected the worst,” Langford said. The shootings Sunday were the first homicides in Grapevine in more than a year and a half. Police and firefighters rushed to the Lincoln Vineyards complex about 11:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call in which no one was on the other end of the line. Because no one responded on the phone, police went into the apartment, located at the back of the complex. They found the seven, aged 15 to 60, dead. Many of the nearby apartments are vacant, and police said no neighbors reported hearing anything on a quiet Christmas morning when many people were not around. If convicted, he faces up to four years behind bars. Lohan was arrested twice in as many days last month, first for allegedly attacking Major in her apartment, then for allegedly violating a restraining order 24 hours later by trying to contact her by phone … and trying to flee the cops . MiLo was hit with two misdemeanors for the first incident, in which he was arrested for domestic violence . He’s charged with that and a violation of a domestic injunction. He faces two more misdemeanor counts for the second bust – resisting arrest without violence and violating a condition of pretrial release (after the first arrest). If convicted on all charges, Michael faces a max of four years in jail. He’s actually spent time there before, years ago, for his involvement in an insider trading scandal. Explains a lot about Lindsay Lohan , doesn’t it? No word if Mike will be released on bond as he awaits trial, but we saw how well that worked out last time. After Justina Jensen, of Manchester, became friendly with the girl, she went on the Internet and arranged a tryst between her and a man — who was actually an undercover cop, according to Union Leader. The young girl’s mom called authorities on Thursday to report her daughter was missing. She told cops that she found her daughter’s photo on an adult entertainment website. Jensen, who went by the alias Remy, made a deal on behalf of the teen to have sex with the man, who called himself Mad Mike, for $150. When the man asked for a location for the duo to meet, Jensen gave her address and was arrested — after a brief struggle — in her home. The teen, who has not been identified, was also discovered in the apartment. According to police, Jensen was going to start training the teen to become a prostitute. Jensen has been charged with felony prostitution. Her first hearing scheduled for Nov. 10. SMH. Jack Manigault, the brother of former Apprentice star and notorious reality TV villain Omarosa, was found on Sunday morning. He was 40. Police in Youngstown, Ohio say Manigault was killed due to a dispute over his girlfriend, as Marco Cardenas is accused of breaking into the apartment Jack shared with his loved one and shooting Manigault in the head. Cardenas, who is halfway through a probation stint, was arrested after two juveniles inside the home reportedly forced him outside. He will be arraigned later today. “We thank everyone for their amazing outpouring of support surrounding the tragic death of my brother Jack,” Omarosa said in a statement. “We loved him unconditionally and we were so proud of him when he turned his life around and gave his life to God two years ago.” [Photo: WENN.com]
