Looks like Jersey Shore’s goin’ country in Party Down South, CMT’s new show from Shore creator SallyAnn Salsano, premiering Thursday, January 16. The reality program follows the drinking and drama of eight Southern guys and girls as they summer on the South Carolina coast … sound familiar? CMT adds, on the show’s official website, that the premise of Party Down South is following “eight young, brazen adults for one wild summer of extreme fun.” “Their summer vacation spot, Murrells Inlet, S.C., may never be the same after these fast friends work, party and bond with one another over their common love of the South.” Fist-pump … or Southern equivalent? Basically, CMT is taking the Jersey Shore formula that made stars out of Snooki , Sitch, Pauly D , JWoww and the gang from the Seaside Heights cesspool. Cast members include Ryan (aka “Daddy”), “a 33-year-old southern ladies man from Orange Beach, Ala., [with] better luck hunting women than deer.” According to his official show bio, “Daddy” has an appetite for courting danger and “he never leaves home without his best friend, the beer funnel.” Awesome. And meet Taylor Wright (aka “Lil Bit”), 23, a lightning rod “who, despite her petite build, isn’t afraid to stand her ground and make sure her voice is heard.” “A native of Rockingham, N.C., Lil Bit loves guns and her Bible … so much so that she sleeps with one hand on each of those items every night.” “She tends to the voice of reason, yet her reason is definitely off and skewed,” Salsano tells the New York Post of her Southern-fried firecracker.
