Very sad news to report Via TMZ reports : Sherman Hemsley, the actor who made the character George Jefferson famous in “The Jeffersons,” has died, El Paso cops tell TMZ. Hemsley died at his home in El Paso, Texas. Hemsley, who was 74, became famous during his appearances on “All in the Family.” The spin-off, “The Jeffersons” was a monster hit. He also starred in the TV show, “Amen.” He was also a professional singer and even released the single in 1989, “Ain’t that A Kick in the Head.” Hemsley had no wife and no kids. At this point why even bother?? A southern California woman turned herself in to authorities as the person who pepper sprayed video-game shoppers in a Walmart during Black Friday’s shopping frenzy, Los Angeles police said Saturday. The woman has not been charged because detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident that required firefighters to treat 10 people for exposure to pepper spray, authorities said. The woman’s name wasn’t released Saturday, police said. “We have her identity and we know who she is and where she is at. When appropriate action needs to be taken, we know where to find her,” said Officer Bruce Borihanh, a police spokesman. “She’s a suspect, but she’s not booked or anything, so we’re not releasing her name. “The detectives have a lot to do. They have to interview a bunch of witnesses, the victims themselves, and from there they will determine what action needs to be taken,” Borihanh said. The woman turned herself in Friday night at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire station in Northridge, California, Borihanh said. ‘Honestly, I don’t remember much. I only know I can recover from here,’ singer tweets after being attacked in New York. By Kara Warner Gavin DeGraw Photo: Jeff Fusco/ Getty Images After suffering a brutal attack early Monday morning in New York, Gavin DeGraw has been released from the hospital and is said to be on the road to recovery. A rep for the “I Don’t Wanna Be” singer confirmed that DeGraw was discharged Tuesday evening (August 9) from Bellevue Hospital, where he was being treated for a concussion, broken nose, black eyes, cuts and bruises sustained when a group of unknown assailants attacked him in Manhattan’s East Village. The attack is still under investigation, and no arrests have been made, but the 34-year-old took to Twitter to say a few words about the incident and to let his fans know that he plans to get well soon. “Hi my friends,” he tweeted to his more than 60,000 followers. “Honestly, I don’t remember much. I only know I can recover from here. Thank u all for your genuine concern. I love u guys.” Despite being released from the hospital, DeGraw was forced to cancel several upcoming appearances. “As a result of Gavin’s injuries, he won’t be performing in Wantagh, NY on August 12 or Mansfield, MA on August 13,” his rep said in a statement to MTV News. It is not yet known how quickly DeGraw will recover and whether he will reschedule his appearances. The singer is preparing to release his fifth album, Sweeter, on September 20, and has plans to open a second National Underground bar in Nashville with his brother, fellow musician Joey DeGraw. Radio and TV personality was killed early Sunday morning at age 32. By James Montgomery DJ Megatron Photo: Scott Wintrow/ Getty Images DJ Megatron, the radio personality, hip-hop promoter and television host, was shot and killed early Sunday morning near his home in Staten Island, according to The New York Times. He was 32. Born Corey McGriff, Megatron first made his name in Staten Island hip-hop circles as a promoter of local artists, something he continued during his stint as a DJ on famed New York radio station Hot 97, where he had risen from an intern to an on-air sidekick of popular personality Fatman Scoop. He had also worked at stations in Boston and Philadelphia. In recent months, Megatron had started to gain national exposure thanks to his appearances on BET’s “106 & Park,” where he’d hype up the in-studio audience during commercial breaks and conduct frank — and hilarious — man-on-the-street interviews. “He will truly be missed,” BET said in a statement extending condolences to his family. In recent weeks, he had become engaged to Shyleen Robinson, with whom he had a 10-month-old-son. Megatron had also appeared in movies, including 2005’s “State Property 2,” starring Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon Dash and rappers Beanie Sigel and N.O.R.E. According to his manager , Megatron was shot and killed while heading to a store near his home in Staten Island at around 2 a.m. on Sunday. No arrests have been made in the shooting. As news of his death began to spread, some of Megatron’s contemporaries took to Twitter to express their sadness. In one tweet , Nicki Minaj wrote “Rest In Peace DJ Megatron. My thoughts are with your family and friends at Hot 97.”
