South Dakota Law Now Allows Unlicensed Braiders To Work Out Of Their Homes This is a really interesting one. A white South Dakota woman named Rachael Gorsuch had a big battle on her hands trying to pursue her passion — braiding hair from home. The issue is South Dakota has a strict state law making it illegal to braid hair without a license. Someone reported Gorsuch to the South Dakota Cosmetology Commission and she could have ended up in real trouble, but she turned her negative into a positive, rallying her clients to help her lobby to change the law. Before Gorsuch’s campaign, a license to braid hair required 2,100 hours of official training in South Dakota. Gorsuch has been braiding black women’s hair since she was 14, and even when she attended Black Hills Beauty College she was the only one at the school who knew how to braid black hair. “If you call any random salon, they’re going to tell you that they don’t do it,” Gorsuch told the Argus Leader. “You’re not even teaching it in the schools, yet you’re making people get a license?” According to Census data there are only around 11,000 black people in South Dakota, comprising 2 percent of the state’s population. Gorsuch’s movement won support from Governor Dennis Daugaard who signed House Bill 1048, which decriminalizes the practice of braiding hair without a license. “We rallied because it’s important to my family and it’s important for people all across the state,” Ryan Howlett told The Argus Leader. “My daughter needs protective styling for her hair to be as beautiful as it can be, and it’s a service that’s needed.” Beautiful story right? The Kardashian girls have a lot in common. Not just money, or fame, or initials, or their family’s brand of Christianity, or certain personality traits that might be described as narcissistic. Though, obviously, all of those things. They also have just truly spectacular derrieres. Love them or hate them, you have to admit that their butts are stellar. Kourtney Kardashian may be a little quieter than Kim or Khloe, but ass photos speak louder than words. It’s not a subtle look and it’s not a subtle photo — it’s a butt selfie. It’s not even the only ass shot that she shared. But who’s going to complain? Certainly not model and boy toy Younes Bendjima , who has some looks of his own. Abby Lee Miller is making her way to prison in the next few weeks. The disgraced former Dance Moms star was sentenced to one year and one day in the slammer after pleading guilty to bankruptcy fraud last June. But when? According to Radar Online, “Abby will be checking into prison on June 30 .” “Although she has not yet received an official confirmation on where she will be serving her time, she has heard good things about Apple Valley or Victorville, which are both prisons located in California,” the rep said. Wait… so is Abby actually looking forward to swapping her dancing costumes for an orange jumpsuit? Reality TV stars do have a knack for coming out of prison and landing higher paid reality TV gigs. Maybe Teresa Giudice has been giving Abby some tips on how to raise her profile or something because she did get a hefty raise when she returned to The Real Housewives of New Jersey following her stint in the slammer. Abby’s legal woes came to the forefront when it emerged that she tried to hide more than $775,000 in earnings. If you watch Dance Moms online , you will already know that some of the other moms have taunted Abby over her bad decisions. It’s difficult to feel bad for Miller when you consider just how nasty she has been on the Lifetime reality series. At one point during the most recent season, Miller broke down in tears as she wondered what would become of her. Even Miller herself is still shocked about the fact she will be spending a stretch behind bars. “I almost fell over when my sentence was announced,” Miller said at the premiere for E!’s Vanderpump Rules wannabe, The Abbey. She also claimed that she was planning to return the money she owed, but there has been nothing else said about it since. It’s crazy to think just how prominent Abby was on reality TV and now she’s showing up to premieres for some of the worst reality shows out there. Abby quit Dance Moms in sensational fashion earlier this year, with a statement that essentially trashed everyone associated with the production of the Lifetime hit. It reads as follows: The majority of children that follow me may be fast asleep, however now is the critical time to make the following statement: I WILL NO LONGER TAKE PART IN DANCE MOMS.
