Carter Bret Michaels Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ Getty Images LOS ANGELES — According to Bret Michaels , his surprise performance Wednesday night on the “American Idol” season finale stage was much-needed musical therapy. Anticipation built quickly in the audience when the familiar guitar chords of one of Michaels’ biggest hits with his group Poison, “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” began and he later emerged on stage with top-three finalist Casey James. “I needed to be here and do this because it’s been two months since I played,” the rocker said backstage at the Nokia Theater shortly after his performance. “It’s been a month and a half in the hospital. It was such an amazing feeling to come out here and jam with Casey. I didn’t tell [my doctors] I was going to do this. I just told them I was doing the ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ finale. They’re going to find out in a minute. But I feel great, I gotta be honest. There’s a still a lot of pain I’m still experiencing. [But] except for a little hitch … my left side from the … stroke, I feel amazing.” Last month the singer and reality show star was hospitalized for a brain hemorrhage and was rushed to the hospital again last week because of a “warning stroke.” On Sunday he appeared on the “Celebrity Apprentice” finale and was named the victor, and he says that he’s ready to hit the road again. “I can’t believe my family let me out. I may not have told them either; I left a few things out,” he joked. “But I needed this for my soul. Honestly. It was a great experience.” He said that he plans to perform again as soon as Friday in Biloxi, Mississippi. “[I’m going to] do a few shows at a time. If it works out, great. If it doesn’t, I’ll start again,” he said. Michaels also reflected on lessons he learned while hospitalized. “I’ve always tried to treat people with respect and I’ve always tried to treat people great. I enjoy every day — every minute I’m here is awesome.” Michaels joked that he wasn’t exactly sure what he would be doing, now that he’s won the title of “Celebrity Apprentice.” He also said that he initially didn’t know if he was hired or fired by Donald Trump. “I leaned in and said, ‘Did you say hired or fired?’ I didn’t know what he said. I just jumped up. I thought, ‘Trump, you’re not going to fire me, right now. I’m on medication. I flew a long way. Holly is amazing. She’s a fierce competitor,’ ” he said of his co-finalist, Holly Robinson Peete. “I didn’t ask Trump ‘What does being “Celebrity Apprentice” entail? Do you get paid? Is there cash involved?’ But what do you gotta do for him? Hopefully, you get to do a lot of charity fundraising. If that’s what it is, I’m going to love it.” And as for that hospital stay? “I’ve spent the last month and a half in the hospital. I don’t ever want to see a hospital again,” he said. “I just want to go out and have a great time.” What did you think of Bret Michaels’ performance on “Idol”? Sound off in the comments below! Bret Michaels Hopes To Make ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ Finale, Despite Hospitalization

‘We’re cautiously optimistic that he will attend the finale,’ Michaels’ rep says about Sunday’s episode. By Jocelyn Vena Bret Michaels in a photoshoot for “Celebrity Apprentice” Photo: NBC After being hospitalized on Thursday for what has been called a “warning stroke” [LINk http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1639716/20100520/bret_michaels.jhtml] just weeks after suffering a serious brain hemorrhage , Bret Michaels’ rep says that there’s still a chance that the Poison frontman may appear on the live finale of the “Celebrity Apprentice” on Sunday. “As far as I know, Bret will be there unless his doctors tell him otherwise,” his rep told People. Michaels is scheduled to appear in the final boardroom evaluation against fellow finalist Holly Robinson Peete. “We’re cautiously optimistic that he will attend the finale. But ultimately, it’s up to his doctors.” Since his hospitalization on Thursday, his rep told The Associated Press that Michaels has been moved to an outpatient care facility; no further details were released. After suffering from a brain hemorrhage last month, Michaels reportedly complaining of numbness on the left side of his body in his face and hands yesterday, doctors described the symptoms as a Transient Ischemic Attack, or warning stroke. While performing MRI and CT scans, doctors conducted ultrasound tests looking for blood clots — specifically an Ultrasound Bubble Test of his heart — which proved positive for a Patent Forum Ovale, or a hole in his heart. Both conditions are treatable and it’s believed they are not connected to the hemorrhage. Michaels’ rep, Janna Elias, added the following statement on Bret’s behalf: “Bret wants everyone to know he cannot thank you enough for all of the well-wishes, prayers and good vibes you have sent his way. Even though these last few months have been tough on him and his family, especially this most recent setback, he is in good spirits, great medical hands and is positive and hopeful that everything is going to be OK. He is up, walking, talking, continuing his daily rehab and very happy to be alive, but he has made it clear he is sick and tired of being in the hospital and is ready to rock again.” Related Photos Bret Michaels’ Career In Photos Related Artists Bret Michaels

About That Time Bret Michaels Suffered a Brain Hemorrhage While Watching Busty Cops 3

Yesterday, Bret Michaels appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show via satellite to discuss the brain hemorrhage that sent him into critical condition last month. Wearing a freshly pressed navy blue bandanna, the rock star and Celebrity Apprentice contestant solemnly described his injury for the first time: “It sounded like a small handgun went off in the back of my head.” As informative as the segment was, Michaels left out one detail that definitely would have interested Oprah: which porno movie he happened to be watching when he suffered the life-threatening hemorrhage.

Celebrity Apprentice Recap: Is Bret Michaels Going to Win This Thing?

I didn’t want or expect three eliminations on Celebrity Apprentice last night, but that’s just what we got, isn’t it? Right down the line, Maria Kanellis, Curtis Stone, and Sharon Osbourne took the elevator ride to hell. Trump calmly explained that they didn’t sell out their coworkers enough. Of course. But more importantly: Only Holly Robinson Peete and Bret Michaels are left. Huh? This isn’t the Sharon Osbourne-Curtis Stone finale we banked on following Summer Sanders’ elimination . Could Bret, the man who joyfully gave us the catchphrase “Pump up the wiener,” really win it all?

By MTV News staff Bret Michaels Photo: George Napolitano/ Getty Images Bret Michaels will make his first TV appearance since suffering a brain hemorrhage on Wednesday’s episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” People reports. He’s also planning to attend the live “Celebrity Apprentice” finale on May 23, his rep told the magazine Friday (May 13). The rep confirmed reports that Michaels is aiming to be back on the road in time for his May 28 show at the Hard Rock in Biloxi, Mississippi. The 47-year-old Poison rocker, who suffered a nearly fatal brain hemorrhage last month, was discharged from a Phoenix hospital on May 4. Michaels is reportedly stepping up his physical therapy to get back in shape for the Mississippi show on his postponed Roses & Thorns Tour. That outing was first interrupted when Michaels underwent an emergency appendectomy on April 12. At a May 4 press conference, Michaels’ doctors said he was doing well, walking and talking and expected to make a 100 percent recovery. At the time, physicians said he was still subject to painful blood clots, back pain and headaches. His doctor predicted at the time that Michaels might be able to resume regular activities within four to six weeks but said that he warned Michaels not to make any promises about when he would get back to work. Do you think Bret Michaels is pushing himself too hard to get back to work? Or is he just doing what he loves? Sound off in the comments.
