The Lone Ranger Trailer: Saddle Up!

The latest, full-length trailer for The Lone Ranger has dropped, shedding new light on how the title character, played by Armie Hammer, teamed up with Johnny Depp’s Tonto. The Lone Ranger Movie Trailer In the trailer, we see a badly beaten Lone Ranger wake up from a nightmare atop a treacherous wooden tower, only to come across Tonto and a white horse. “Why am I alive?” the Ranger asks. “Eight men rode into canyon,” he replies. “I dug seven graves. Horse says you are a spirit walker. A man who has been to the other side and returned.” Profound stuff. After the pair decide to ride together “for justice,” Tonto suggests the Ranger conceal his identity: “People think you are dead. Better to stay that way.” The pair ride into the wild west (and in theaters) July 3, 2013. In other movie news , the full-length Man of Steel trailer was also released this week. Check it out!

Grease Stars John Travolta And Olivia Newton-John To Croon Again For Xmas Album

The Grease duo who melted hearts as love-torn high school couple Danny and Sandy in the 1978 smash big screen musical are joining forces again on a holiday album. This Christmas: John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John is due out November 13th, almost 35 years after their classic brought the two together, setting a new standard for teen romance pics at the time. A chance text from Newton-John to Travolta one Christmas prompted Travolta to come up with the idea for a Christmas collection. Newton-John noted that their Grease hit “You’re the One That I Want” had just become the best-selling duet in pop music history. “From the moment we decided to do this, magic happened,” Travolta said as quoted on Amazon . “Everyone we contacted agreed to do it.” Continuing Travolta said, “My desire was to make This Christmas an intimate album, not something too ostentatious or showy. I wanted people to be able to play it around the house or in the car during the holidays, and make us part of your celebration. Gathering around house listening to Christmas music has always been an important part of that time of the year to my family.” They’ve also solicited the vocals from some fellow celebs to add extra pipe-wattage to the album. John and I have always connected. That’s never gone away. When we’re together, we have a good laugh and feel bonded to one another. We’ve been through some amazing experiences together.” And the potential cash cow that the album may generate will head to their respective charities. WATCH: ‘Lone Ranger’ Trailer Teases Depp’s Tonto, Lone Ranger Not So Much

Disney’s first trailer for the big budget Wild West spectacle The Lone Ranger has everything but, y’know, the Lone Ranger himself — Armie Hammer , who’s glimpsed here and there amid director Gore Verbinski’s bright, sweeping vistas, but certainly isn’t the center of attention. Based on this you’d think The Lone Ranger is about horses, runaway trains, slo-mo shoot-outs, and Johnny Depp as a painted face, bird-on-head, perpetually grimacing Tonto . Which, let’s be honest, is why this movie exists in the first place. Depp’s sage (and apparently humorless) Tonto penetrates the iconic Western landscape like a punchline, delivering an accented line: “There come a time, kemosabe, when good man must wear mask.” I’m sure his is a culturally-sensitive and realistic portrayal of Native American heroism. This should make for some very interesting Independence Day ’13 viewing. Meanwhile, let’s see some more Hammer, Disney! Otherwise it’s The Tonto Show , which, who am I kidding, I’d watch anyway. The Lone Ranger hits theaters July 3, 2013. Synopsis: From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, comes Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ “The Lone Ranger,” a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption. Verdict: Hi-ho, Silver, away…

Kato Kaelin: Yep, O.J. Simpson Totally Killed People

Brian “Kato” Kaelin, O.J. Simpson’s former friend, apparently just said the Juice “definitely” killed Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, which we already all know. Kato’s disclosure is still surprising given that Kato is the only person known to be with O.J. around the time of the murders he beat the rap for in June 1994. Kato went to McDonald’s with O.J. and was living in his guest house. Prosecutors say he heard O.J. outside coming back from the killings that fateful night. During the trial, Kaelin feigned ignorance, but tells the N.Y. Post today: “Yes, he did it.” He didn’t say so then because, “I was too scared. I was terrified.” Kato says that he can now come clean because statute of limitations has passed and he can’t be charged with perjury based on his original testimony. He says it’s been a long 18 years doing … whatever it is he does. “People hated me. I’ve been spat upon. They threw gum in my coffee,” he recalls. Simpson was eventually acquitted of murder, but was found liable for their deaths in civil court. He is now doing hard time for kidnapping and robbery . He is also rumored to be Khloe Kardashian’s father … which he’s not. But her father, Robert Kardashian Sr., was his trusted lawyer and confidant. UPDATE: Kato Kaelin shockingly now tells TMZ that he never said ANY of those things to reporter New York Post reporter Cindy Adams or anyone else. Kato says he has expressed his opinion over the years that he THINKS O.J. killed Nicole and Ron, but he insists, “I have no first hand knowledge.”

Fiona Apple Arrested For Hashish

Fiona Apple has been arrested for hashish possession at a border crossing in the state of Texas. You could say that is borderline “Criminal” behavior. Sierra Blanca, Tex., is quickly becoming the celebrity mugshot capital of the world, with Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Armie Hammer and now Fiona. Here’s Apple’s booking photo taken after her bus was searched: Officials found hashish , or hash, a strong form of cannabis, on Apple’s tour bus. Cops say that the 35-year-old was also in possession of a small amount of weed. Apple was arrested for possession and is currently being held at Hudspeth County Jail. What she needs is a … wait for it … [fill in the blank in the comments]

WATCH: Red Band Trailer For Lawless Gives New Meaning to ‘Gas Guzzler’

“Do you have any idea what a Thompson submachine gun does to a mortal?” Guy Pearce tells Tom Hardy about midway through this red-band trailer for Lawless .  And, well, before you can say, “Swiss cheese!”, Gary Oldman is riddling some poor sap in an old-fashioned automobile with lots of lead. That’s not even the toughest scene to stomach in the promo for this inspired-by-true-life tale about the brutal bootlegging Bondurant Brothers in Prohibition-era Virginia, which also stars Shia LaBeouf, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska. There’s another luckless soul who appears to be force fed about a gallon of gasoline — and they don’t even check his oil! Check it out below:

Is Disney Rebooting The Rocketeer?

I suppose it makes sense: According to Vulture rumor-slinger Claude Brodesser-Akner, Disney’s new regime under Alan Horn is developing a remake of 1991’s The Rocketeer — a box office disappointment that nevertheless built a cult following owing to its retro-futuristic vibe, Billy Campbell’s irresistible hair, and Jennifer Connelly ‘s Jennifer Connelly-ness. The Rocketeer told the story of Cliff Secord, a square-jawed airplane pilot who battles Nazis with the help of a rocket jetpack in 1930s California. Audiences rejected it upon release, but the film won dedicated fans (myself included) in subsequent years. The report, based on studio spy whispers, points out that such a reboot might be successful thanks to its similarities with Marvel’s Iron Man properties — both were adapted from comics, both involve a hero in a supercool metal suit flying into action against baddies, etc. One way of updating the Rocketeer property could be to make it slick and high-tech and even more Iron Man -esque… though the idea of Disney courting such obvious parallels to Marvel’s best-loved new Avengers superhero doesn’t make much sense. If Disney reboots The Rocketeer , I can’t imagine fans of the original comics and the Joe Johnston-directed film would accept anything less than a faithful period setting, in keeping with the original story’s spirit and sense for nostalgic idealism; good luck finding a Cliff Secord with hair as phenomenally perfect as 90s-era Campbell. I mean – JUST… LOOK… AT THIS HAIR! YOU GUYS . On second thought, let me put this out there: Armie Hammer as Cliff. Jennifer Lawrence as Jenny. Michael Fassbender as Neville Sinclair. Discuss. Gwyneth Paltrow Tweets N Word at Jay-Z Concert, Defends Usage Against Irate Fans

Gwyneth Paltrow has Tweeted her way into a swirl of controversy. The actress, who is very open about her friendship with Jay-Z and Beyonce, was invited on stage in France this weekend to join the rapper and Kanye West during an encore performance of their popular single, “Niggas in Paris.” But when The Dream snapped the following photo of the actress, her reply set off a firestorm on the blogging site: “Niggas in paris for real,” Paltrow wrote. In response to the backlash over using that word, Paltrow Tweeted on Sunday: “Hold up. It’s the title of the song!” But that wasn’t good enough for some. “Lets be very clear she called a group of black men that have nothing to do with the song ‘Ni**as’. Are Kanye and Jay-z in the picture? No. She is specifically calling The Dream and Ty Ty real ‘Ni**as In Paris’ in that moment,” wrote one of Gwyneth’s follwers. “There was no need for that. She’s the one that connected the two, They have nothing to do with the song.” The Dream, meanwhile, rushed in to Paltrow’s defense – “FYI, sorry for the confusion. I typed ‘N—– in Paris for real’ from Gwen’s phone, my bad,” he Tweeted. “Please excuse it! We were lit.” – and now HE is facing backlash. One fan accused the producer of rushing in to “save that white princess.” What do you think? Did Paltrow do anything wrong here?
