Yelawolf Promises ‘Let’s Roll’ Video Will Be ‘Magic’

Radioactive MC recruits Kid Rock and DJ Kool Herc for clip. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Steven Roberts Yelawolf on the set of his “Let’s Roll” video Photo: MTV News Yelawolf might rep Gadsden, Alabama, to the fullest, but for his next music video, Catfish Billy takes a pilgrimage to hip-hop’s birthplace. For “Let’s Roll,” the next single off his debut LP, Radioactive , Yela hooks up with Kid Rock and hip-hop’s inventor DJ Kool Herc for a ride through the Bronx, New York. “We had the godfather, Kool Herc, come out and do a cameo — it’s pretty incredible,” Yela told MTV News while on set last week. “The director had the brilliant idea of bringing us to the Bronx, the home of hip-hop, where it was born, and it just made it mean so much more to me. I was like, ‘Ahh, that’s perfect.’ ” While coming up in the rap game, Wolf has differentiated himself, playing up not only his southern roots, but the fact that he’s a white rapper who at times looks more punk rock than hip-hop. But being from Gadsden doesn’t make him any less authentic. In fact, in the “Let’s Roll” clip, Wolf brings a trailer-park vibe to the Boogie Down Bronx. “For me, being from Alabama, what hip-hop has given to me, bringing it back here and the blessing of it and just having Kool Herc out here, it’s magic,” Yela reflected. When it’s all said and done, Yelawolf expects the video will help define his career. “It’s just one of those days that things came together the way they came together, and it’ll be a pivotal video in my career,” he said. “I know it’s gonna really open up a huge door and open a lot of people up to the music.” Related Artists YelaWolf

Is LisaRaye Engaged To A Mega Pastor?

Read more here:

Rumor has it that LisaRaye is engaged to mega pastor Noel Jones, who is the brother of Grace Jones! LisaRaye has been been dating the well-known pastor of the City of Refuge for quite some time and it looks as though they’re taking it to the next level. Both have been married before and we know how LisaRaye’s played out and Pastor Jones use to ‘kick-it’ with NeNe Leakes, but that didn’t work out because she had too much baggage. (ya think!) I’m also hearing that LisaRaye is trying to shop a reality show on behalf of Pastor Jones, called Keeping Up With the Joneses. Get your hustle on girl! Nicki Minaj Thanks Taylor Swift For Her Contribution To “Superbass”

View original post here:

Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift have formed an unlikely friendship which stemmed from a radio interview Miss Swift had done where she requested Nicki’s “Superbass,” a cut off Nicki’s Pink Friday album, to be played. The radio host, interviewing her at the time took it a step further and asked Taylor to rap the lyrics, which she said she could effortlessly do. After a slight hesitation, Taylor erupted into song, adding her soft-spoken voice to Minaj’s mature lyrics. The video spawned several copy-cats and introduced “Superbass” to a complete new realm of people. Last night, upon accepting her 2011 American Music Award for “Favorite Hip Hop Artist,” Nicki Minaj thanked Taylor for her contribution to “Superbass.” Nicki says “Well, I have to thank her because if it wasn’t for her just being open and honest about a new song she liked no-one would know… her fan base would not have known about ‘Super Bass’.” Taylor said she is “blown away” by Nicki’s acknowledgment! Is Common The New King Of All Media? [EXCLUSIVE]

See original here:

Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr.  has turned multitasking into an art form. One day he is sitting on a panel with Robin Williams , Elijah Wood and Hank Azaria trading jokes about their frosty, eco-friendly new movie Happy Feet 2 . The next day the artist more commonly known as…Common… is in the studio finishing up his ninth album, The Dreamer The Believer . Between all of this he is promoting his memoirs “One Day It’ll All Make Sense” and a new TV Show, “Hell On Wheels”, where he plays a freed slave working on the railroads in the 1800s. More than Common…Extraordinary! How does someone keep all of these disparate interests straight in their head, especially coming from an industry that places a premium on being “real”? “You go to those different places inside of you,” Common tells TheUrbandaily.com between bites of his lunch at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. “I think a lot of us as human beings express these different qualities; love, anger, fear. All those things…joy. The way I was raised I came up seeing the streets but I was also educated in private school. So I’ve been able to express myself in different ways.” The cliche is that luck favors the prepared but it’s still an impressive feat to have a book, an album, a movie and a television series coming out in the same quarter. However, Common is humble about the whole convergence, chalking it up to an unseen hand at work that is certainly not the illuminati. “Everything is happening when it’s supposed to,” he says. “It’s God’s divine order that all this came out at the same time. I did Happy Feet 2 a year and some ago. The album was supposed to come out earlier and it’s coming out in December. I thank God for the way people are reading the book and now I’m on a panel with Robin Williams and Elijah Wood. This is what I do and I love it.” In Happy Feet 2 Common voices a penguin named Seymour. His son Atticus is a little b-boy that would give Chilly Willy a run for his money on the mic.  With this role Common joined a growing list of rappers voicing cartoons like Queen Latifah , Fat Joe and Xzibi t all because a previous opportunity fell through. “[Director] George Miller and I were going to work on J ustice League for Warner Brothers,” he explains. “It didn’t go through but he and I built a good relationship and I hold him in a high regard. I saw Happy Feet and thought it was really fresh. I was impressed and loved it. He called me and said he wanted me to [voice] this character in Happy Feet 2 and I said I’d love to. I haven’t been part of any films where the whole family could go and enjoy it.  This was my first opportunity to do animated voice over work. It was incredible.” Common, who is the father of a 14-year-old girl has personal experience with playing a protective dad. “She was into it but she’s in her teenage stage now. She wanted to go see The Ides Of March , ” he says with a laugh. “But she was happy that I was  a part of the film. Just the other day we were riding around and she said this is everywhere.” Common may have better luck getting her to tune into his AMC series, “Hell On Wheels”.  In the small screen Western Common plays Elam Ferguson, a biracial ex-slave working on the Union Pacific Railroad. “‘Hell on Wheels’ is an incredible show because it deals with all these different people of different cultures and backgrounds coming together to build this railroad,” he shares.  “It’s the American dream being built and [it shows] how some people relate. Some get a long, some don’t, it’s like a reflection of America today. My character is real strong. It’s a character you haven’t seen depicted in film or TV from a Black person in that era. Maybe Denzel in Glory , but it’s still a little different.” All of these many moods seem to manifest themselves on Common’s new album, and rightfully so. On the combative “So Sweet” he boasts lines like “Hip-Hop’s master cleanse and I’m gonna get my sh*t off…”, which is the antithesis of the more ethereal “ Blue Sky.” But like his many outlets in the world of entertainment there are many sides to Common waiting to be revealed. “Doing a song like ‘Sweet’ was just me too, and being able to go in my imagination and be a penguin is also an aspect of my creativity. I always feel proud to represent hip-hop in whatever world we go to.” Happy  Feet 2 will be in theaters on Friday November 18th. Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones: Starring in The Sex Factor?

Forget The X Factor . Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones are reportedly engaged in The Sex Factor! A source close to this Fox competition tells Heat that the judge and the host were actually told to get close earlier this summer, before Cheryl Cole was fired from the program and Scherzinger moved from co-host to panelist. ” X Factor executives encouraged Nicole and Steve to build their chemistry, and get to know each other better over drinks,” the insider claims . “But since then, things have moved on.” So why haven’t Scherzinger – who split from Lewis Hamilton a few weeks ago, following an up-and-down four years – and Jones gone public? A certain British producer, the mole says: “They can’t go public until they get the okay from Simon.” And we all know how difficult it can be to receive words of encouragement from Simon Cowell.
