T.I. ‘Flirting’ With B.o.B Joint Album Idea

The album would be called The Man and the Martian, Tip reveals to MTV News’ Sway. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway T.I. Photo: Shade 45 Jay-Z and Kanye, Eminem and Royce Da 5’9″, Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame: Could T.I. and B.o.B be next? Since Tip’s release from prison in September , the Atlanta rapper has been keeping busy in the studio, churning out collaborations with the Throne , Young Jeezy, 2 Chainz and Big K.R.I.T. But T.I. tells MTV News’ Sway that fans may hear a lot more from him and Bobby Ray. “We been goin’ in. We’re actually flirting with the idea of doin’ an album together called The Man and the Martian, ” T.I. said when he appeared Wednesday on Shade 45’s “Sway in the Morning.” “We just been compiling material, he and I together, and it’s coming out real good.” As far as deciding who is the man and who will play the martian, T.I. left things open. “Well, we interchange,” he explained. “We can do role reversal, we have the morphing ability.” Collaborative rap albums are a definite trend and while T.I. admits that he has been inspired by the Throne, and Em and Royce, he said he has always wanted to do a combo album with another artist. “Of course they did inspire me, but I always have wanted to do a collaborative album. Even back when Jay did that with R. Kelly,” he said. “I spoke to Usher about doing one of those before; the stars and the moon hadn’t aligned appropriately.” T.I. revealed that he first spoke to Usher about doing a joint LP back in 2007 or 2008, and though it didn’t materialize, the MC would still be down to tackle the project. The Grand Hustle CEO was also very clear that none of the aforementioned plans has gotten past the idea stage. “Even this, this is a conversation that we had, this is an idea,” he said about the possibility of a B.o.B record. “It’s not set in stone, it’s not concrete as of yet.” Catch MTV News’ Sway Calloway on “Sway in the Morning,” on SiriusXM Radio’s Shade 45 , Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon ET. Lil Wayne Says “It Feels F****d-Up” To Be Sober & Speaks On Retiring At 35

Go here to see the original:

Lil Wayne is certainly confident and effortlessly genius. He has transformed himself from artist to boss of one of the biggest music crews around. Though, on top of his game he plans to retire around the age of 35! In a recent interview with GQ, Wayne talks about being a soccer-dad and how it feels to be sober. On Retiring: Basically, I have been doing this for eighteen years. That’s reason number one. I have accomplished all that I have set out to accomplish and more. Also, I have a label, and I’ve only put out two artists [Drake and Nicki Minaj]. I have a lot more work to do, and it’d be selfish to not focus on being the boss and focus on their projects. But the main reason is my kids, my children. Now, if I thought I’d be selfish to my artists, imagine what I think I would be doing to my kids. I have enough money that they don’t have to ever do anything—which, they will do everything, ’cause they ain’t getting shit. [cackles wildly] Six [more] years, I can do this Lil Wayne thing, and my boys will be about 7 and 8 years old. And man, it’s all about them then. You know, whatever they’re doing. Sports. Whatever they’re into. That’s where I am. I’m at every game. I’m the dad with the hat on. The jersey. That’s me. On Being Sober: I’m good. I ain’t tripping. I’m used to it now. But I was never on heroin or cocaine or Ecstasy or nothing like that. I drank syrup and smoked a lotta weed. I wish I could be back on it. That’s how it fucking feels. [cracking himself up] “How does it feel to be sober?” I’ll be like, “It feels fucked-up.” What you want me to say? “It feels great”? No. I was on something that the doctor prescribed. I was ill, and that was helping me. Click here for the full story at GQ.com

Yo Gotti Says Zed Zilla ‘Could Be The Next One’

With Rent’s Due, ‘It’s time for me to show ’em what south Memphis about,’ Zed Zilla tells Mixtape Daily. By Rob Markman Zedzilla Photo: CMG Records Granted, Yo Gotti has yet to release his first major-label album, but the Memphis, Tennessee, spitter is thinking big. While fans await Gotti’s Live From the Kitchen (which he hopes will drop before the year ends), the “5 Star Chick” rapper is ready to further the career of his artist Zed Zilla, who will drop his Rent’s Due mixtape later this month. “We from two different sides: north Memphis, south Memphis,” Zed told Mixtape Daily before explaining how he and Gotti met. “I had a show one day, he had his ear to the streets, came to my show. I rocked it, he liked what he saw … we been click-clackin’ ever since.” Zed has actually been riding alongside Gotti since his 2008 mixtape, Cocaine Muzik . More recently, the pair collaborated on Gotti’s “Fire That Bitch,” a humorous break-up song from Cocaine Muzik 6 . Next up is Zilla’s Rent’s Due with DJ Bigga Rankin. The tape features appearances from Waka Flocka Flame, 2 Chainz and, of course, Gotti. The title is particularly fitting considering one of Zed’s rap aliases is “the Landlord.” “For me, with Rent’s Due, ain’t no way around rent; you gotta pay rent,” he said. “I’m here to collect rent. I been with [Gotti] for a minute, been around the world, did a lot of shows, now it’s time for me to show ’em what south Memphis about.” More than just his skills on the mic, Gotti made sure Zed Zilla was everything he claimed to be before signing him to his Cocaine Muzik Group record label. “First and foremost, you have to do your research and find out how close you is to that actual life you’re talkin’ about,” Gotti explained. “You could be the best lyricist or rapper or songwriter, if you ain’t mentally prepared to put in the work, it’s a waste of time. “When we done the research, [Zed] had all the ingredients that we were looking for,” he continued. “I think he could be the next one.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines .

Nicki Minaj And Pitbull Celebrate AMA Nominations

Minaj jokes that mentor Lil Wayne should ‘move to the side and let me win’ at the American Music Awards. By Kara Warner Nicki Minaj and Pitbull Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Whether they had a heads-up or not, when Nicki Minaj and Pitbull unveiled the nominees for the 39th annual American Music Awards on Tuesday (October 11), it was obvious they were both pleased to read the other’s name off the list. Minaj is nominated for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album, while Pitbull picked up nods for Favorite Latin Music Artist and Favorite Pop or Rock Male Artist. When MTV News caught up with the nominees immediately following the announcement, they weren’t shy about their hopes for bringing home the big awards come November 20, when the AMAs air live on ABC. “It’s an honor to be here with the kind of caliber of artists here,” Pitbull said of fellow nominees Justin Bieber , Bruno Mars , Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez . “Me, I come to the awards shows and I just learn, I watch everyone, I see how they handle their performances and hopefully grab a couple things and apply it to my career. So to be here nominated and to also be performing at the AMAs, I want to thank you.” The “Give Me Everything” singer also promised he’ll do his best to top his VMA performance when he takes the AMA stage. “That [VMA performance] was definitely a lot of fun. It’s hard to get 60 women from Miami on a plane after they were partying the night before and bring that vibe out there,” he joked. “But that’s definitely what we’re looking for: We’re looking for a lot of energy, something very sexy, sophisticated, powerful — and get ready.” With regard to Miss Minaj’s chances at victory, she’s nominated in both categories with Young Money boss Lil Wayne, so we wanted to know if there will be any friendly wagering going on beforehand. “I don’t know. He’s won enough,” she said with a smile. “He’s been winning for 10 years, so he can move to the side and let me win, hopefully.” Who will you be rooting for at the AMAs? Let us know in the comments! David Boreanaz on Affair(s): It Saved My Marriage!

Bones star David Boreanaz believes in the power of positive thinking. The actor, who infamously slept with Rachel Uchitel , then came clean about another affair in May 2010 after an alleged extortion attempt, says that ultimately, his marriage to Jaime Bergman has been strengthened in the long term. “In a sacred ground like marriage, you find yourself out of it at certain times for reasons unknown that can be destructive,” the 42-year-old explains. “There could be a demon that kind of comes out and overtakes you,” but instead, the pair’s entire ordeal has been “a bonding experience, in the long run.” We doubt Jaime would make that word choice, but we’re glad they worked it out. In any relationship, there are “fantastic” moments and ” extremely rocky ” moments, adds Boreanaz, who married Bergman back in November 2001. “Do I believe in giving up?” Boreanaz asks. “No, I don’t. I’m a fighter. I’m a lover.” Bergman and Boreanz are parents to son Jaden, 9, and daughter Bella, 2. He’ll soon be a father on TV, too. Bones returns November 3 on Fox. [Photo: WENN.com]
