Lil Wayne’s Carter IV Tops Billboard With Nearly A Million Sold

Hyped album moved 964,000 copies in its first week. By Gil Kaufman Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Lil Wayne was thisclose to making history as the first rap act to open with back-to-back million-selling albums. Thanks to record-setting iTunes sales of 300,000, plus the push provided by a post-VMA on-sale stunt, Weezy’s eagerly anticipated Tha Carter IV will debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart next week on sales of 964,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. That’s more than enough to win out over funky veterans the Red Hot Chili Peppers , who land at #2 with I’m With You thanks to sales of 229,000. That figure is less than half as much as the band’s previous release, the double album Stadium Arcadium, which moved 443,000 copies in its first week on the charts in 2006. Dance master David Guetta has a solid debut with his star-packed Nothing but the Beat, which lands at #5 (56,000), just barely edging out country singer Jake Owen ‘s Barefoot Blue Jean Night (55,000). A number of other artists got a VMA bump, including Adele, whose 21 is up 88 percent to 154,000 (putting her just shy of 3.3 million to date) and Beyonc

Foster The People Talk 3-D ‘Don’t Stop’ Video

Car chases and ‘Precious’ star Gabourey Sidibe could be on tap for upcoming clip. By Gil Kaufman Foster The People’s Mark Foster Photo: MTV News Foster the People shot out of the box a few months ago with their summer smash “Pumped Up Kicks.” The video for the song is lo-fi to be sure: some live footage of the New Wave-y trio performing mixed in with some wacky road-trip clips, camera-mugging and other goofball antics. It was a modest launch but the irresistible song has continued to gain traction since it came out in February and it is now firmly in the #2 slot on the iTunes singles chart. With a little more scratch and recognition to their name, they recently followed with the big-budget-looking, apocalyptic “Mad Max”-inspired video for “Helena Beat.” And now, according to lead singer Mark Foster, they’re going really big for their next trick. “We’ve got a couple videos shot already that are going to be coming out soon,” Foster told us on the black carpet at the 2011 VMAs . “We’re shooting a new one in 3-D, actually in a week or two for ‘Don’t Stop.’ It’s going to involve a car chase and hopefully [‘Precious’] star Gabourey Sidibe, if we can get her to be in it.” In the meantime, after killing it at big summer festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza — not to mention earning two VMA nods for Best New Artist and Best Rock Video — the trio will be hitting the road hard for the rest of 2011. They’ll be playing U.S. dates through the end of the month, and then take things overseas for European gigs through November. (A spokesperson for the band’s label could not be reached for comment at press time on when the “Don’t Stop” video is slated for release.) Are you excited to see FTP’s next video? Mel Gibson on Oksana Grigorieva Music: Awful!

It finally is all over between Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva , who settled their custody dispute in court. But there is a lingering disagreement on one point. Oksana’s lawyers touted her music credentials in court, but Mel made it clear (a bit more eloquently than on his taped rants ) he deeply regrets supporting her career. Mel says he spent a small fortune to produce a CD and video, and even paid for a studio for the “horrible” singer he’s now “embarrassed” to have promoted. As he said in one of the tapes, she just can’t hang. Take a listen below and see if you think Oksana sucks at singing as bad as Mel thinks she does … Oksana Grigorieva Singing

Sinead O’Connor: Desperate for Sex, Seeking Men Not Named Brian or Nigel

Sinead O’Connor has a new look , and a new, disturbing demand: the singer craves sexual intercourse. On her official website , the singer has posted an entry titled “Is Sinead About to Hump Her Truck?.” It reads: “I recently read of a woman in America who married and regularly humps her truck. I don’t yet own a truck but I’m beginning to understand her head space. And I am worried I too may be so desperate for sex that within days I might run up the road and hump Bray Cab’s whole fleet in one hour.” Stuck in a “dire” situation, O’Connor – who once tore up a photo of The Pope on Saturday Night Live – writes that she is in the “peak of my sexual prime and way too lovely to be living like a nun, and it’s very depressing.” In “desperate need of a very sweet sex-starved man,” the artist is specific in her request. Potential suitors “must be no younger than 44, must not be named Brian or Nigel, must be blind enough to think I’m gorgeous, has to be employed and he has to like his mother.” So, we ask all readers not named Brian or Nigel: Would you hit this?

Heather Morris, Photographer Court Controversy with "Bruised-Up Barbie" Pics

Has Tyler Shields crossed a line? A new spread of Glee star Heather Morris depicts the actress with a black eye, causing many to wonder why a photographer would actually invoke an image of domestic violence in such a way. Easy, says the man behind it: I didn’t. “In no way were we promoting domestic violence,” Shields tells E! News “We wanted to do a bruised-up Barbie shoot and that’s exactly what we did!” More shots are available at Tyler’s official site . They all feature Morris with a black eye; some involve the use of an iron and its chord. “I don’t know if Tyler is aware but I’m quite sure there are plenty of women who have been abused by these kinds of household appliances and children as well being hit with electrical cords,” says Rita Smith, executive director for the Denver-based National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. “I’m not sure what the purpose is other than shock value.” Shields has courted controversy in the past with photo shoots. There was this one of Lindsay Lohan , covered in blood, just a few weeks ago. What do you think of the artist’s latest work? Has he gone too far?

Mystery Buyer Wants Kim Kardashian Sex Tape OFF the Market [PICS]

Now that Kim Kardashian has become America’s Sweetheart- or at least sold her wedding pics for a cool $1.5 million- there’s someone out there who wants us to forget all about her porn-y past. A lawyer representing an “anonymous client” has sent a letter to Vivid Entertainment , the current owners of the Kim Kardashian Sex Tape , saying they want to buy the rights to all XXXplicit footage of Kim (skinterestingly, Ray J , Kim’s costar, was not mentioned in the letter). This would include any raw footage that didn’t make it onto the DVD. But this mystery shopper isn’t looking to make a buck: “The party we represent does not intend to distribute or broadcast the ‘tape,’ but hopes to completely remove it from the market,” according to the letter. Pssh, like that could ever happen. They’d have to shut down the Internet. Regardless, that’s gonna be an expensive cleanup job. Vivid president Steve Hirsch told TMZ that he’ll sell the rights, but the anonymous patron will have to pony up a cool $30 million for the privilege. Hirsch adds: “I have no idea who is behind this offer … but If it’s Kim, I have a tremendous amount of respect for her. She has my number and can call me any time.” Check out nude stills from the Kim Kardashian sex tape (while you still can) after the jump!

The cast for this year’s edition of Dancing with the Stars has been announced, and while there’s no Karina Smirnoff or Holly Madison hoofing it this season, the lineup is by no means skin-free. Yeah, yeah, but who’s the most likely to have a Monique Coleman moment, you ask? Find out after the jump!

Britney Spears ‘Can’t Be Knocked Down’

Celebrity fans including former ‘NSYNC singer JC Chasez, tourmate DJ Pauly D and more weigh in on why Brit is still on top. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears with Lady Gaga as Jo Calderone at the 2011 VMAs Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images At the 2011 Video Music Awards , Lady Gaga’s alter ego Jo Calderone presented Britney Spears with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award by telling the audience that Spears “taught us all how to be fearless.” And that fearlessness was honored with a dance-heavy tribute to the pop star. Brit’s ever-growing legacy is the reason why she was so deserving of the special award, her celebrity fans and members of her inner circle told MTV News. “She never lets you down,” her longtime choreographer Brian Friedman told MTV News on the VMA black carpet on Sunday night. “She’s definitely not dull. There’s always something crazy coming around the next turn. I think it’s a mix between music, which is always incredible, the dance performance you see on the stage, the iconic videos, the fashion, and then the fact that she can’t be knocked down.” We spotted Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and more hanging out backstage! Those sentiments were mirrored by her pal and former ‘NSYNC member JC Chasez, who noted that even at 30, “She’s actually been around long enough [to have a tribute]. She has a body of work to pull from.” Spears’ former tourmate, DJ Pauly D , also gushed about the singer, who won Best Pop Video for “Till The World Ends.” Find out how Beyonc
