Sean Kingston Is ‘Sedated But Fully Conscious’

By Rob Markman Sean Kingston (file) Photo: Getty Sean Kingston remains hospitalized in critical condition and hooked up to a ventilator with a tube inserted in his throat after a jet-ski accident in Miami, but his rep tells MTV News, “He is aware of what is going on around him,” adding that the singer “is sedated but fully conscious.” Jackson Memorial, the hospital where Kingston is being treated, also issued this statement to MTV: ” Sean Kingston is currently in critical but stable condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. Sean’s family asks for privacy at this time but is thankful to his friends, family and fans for their outpouring of prayers and well wishes.” On Sunday, Kingston and a female passenger crashed his Sea Doo jet-ski into the Palm Island Bridge at approximately 6 p.m. ET. After being rescued by an off-duty Coast Guard employee, the pop star was taken to the trauma center at Jackson Memorial, but has since been moved to the intensive care unit. TMZ spoke to Kingston’s rescuer, who said that Sean was “puking up blood out of his mouth.” Another witness told the site he noticed a gash under Kingston’s chin after the crash. Cassandra Sanchez, Sean’s friend and passenger on the jet-ski at the time of the accident, has since been discharged from the hospital, Kingston’s rep confirmed to us. Sanchez also spoke to the gossip site, telling them Kingston tried to turn away from the bridge but was going “really fast” and couldn’t avoid the crash. Sanchez also said that as Kingston was maneuvering toward the bridge, she urged him to stop and screamed out, “We can’t fit under there! Are we going to try and go under there? Rick Ross Talks ‘Great Relationship’ With Lil Wayne, Cash Money

This year Ross toured with Wayne on the first leg of his I Am Still Music Tour, and he’s already kicked around the idea of a joint album with Birdman and appeared on his fair share of songs with the YMCMB roster. During this week’s “RapFix Live,” the Boss spoke to host Sway about his relationship with Wayne and his favorite memory from his I Am Still Music run. “The very first night the tour kicked off, just being backstage and me having a great relationship with Cash Money,” he revealed. “So it’s really like me being at home with my brothers when it comes to Birdman and Lil Wayne.” Rozay and Weezy currently appear together on DJ Khaled’s brand-new “I’m On One,” Ross’ “9 Piece (Remix)” and, of course, Wayne’s Tha Carter IV street single “John.” For “John,” Wayne found inspiration in “I’m Not a Star,” the opening track from Ross’ 2010 Teflon Don. “When [Wayne] first came home [from jail] he was like, ‘That ‘”I’m Not a Star,” that’s one of my favorite joints, let’s do something in that vibe,’ ” Ross recalled. “I’m like, ‘Easy.’ He actually gave me the track and I was like, ‘Wow, this is too easy.’ ” With Tha Carter IV scheduled to drop on June 21 and the Colin Tilley-directed “John” clip in rotation and video outlets, Ross is excited for the future. “Sitting in the studio at the Hit factory in Miami, I remember him just playing joints off his album and us constantly going back to that joint and I was just like, ‘It’s gonna be a hot summer.’ ” What’s your favorite Ross and Weezy track? Taylor Swift Wants To Thank Fans ‘Personally’ On Speak Now Tour

Not only did she premiere her “Story of Us” video Tuesday on MTV, but she also kicks off her Speak Now Tour on Friday in Omaha, Nebraska. When MTV News’ Sway sat down with the country/pop superstar following her video premiere, she let fans in on what to expect from the stadium show. “We get to have such groovy, cool stuff happening,” she said. “I’ve never had pyro before. I’ve never had aerialists before. It’s got this grand staircase. The stage in itself looks like an old-world theater. I can’t believe we get to play stadiums. I’m so excited about this tour. I want to live on that stage. I hope people leave the concert feeling like they know you better.” Swift looks at this tour as the ultimate “thank you” letter to her fans for the success Speak Now has had. “That’s why I’m so blown away. That’s why I can’t wait to go out on tour and thank them personally,” she said. Before the official tour kickoff, Swift gave some lucky fans a taste of the show during a charity event last Saturday in Nashville. She opened up her final Speak Now dress rehearsal to fans and gave the proceeds to tornado victims. “It was one of the coolest things. Honestly, we thought our first show was going to be a week later, [but] watching the news and seeing the damage, it was just really emotional for me and a lot of the dancers and crew,” she recalled. “So I felt like, if there was any way I could help out, why not sell tickets to that? And so it turned out it was something we could do. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Taylor Swift Photo: MTV News Taylor Swift sat down with MTV News on Tuesday night to chat about her latest music video, for “The Story of Us.” During the discussion about the Noble Jones-directed, Vanderbilt University-set video, fans who submitted questions on Twitter wanted to know more about Swift’s songwriting process. She said that touring can be the best time to write tracks, even teasing some song ideas for her follow-up to Speak Now. With Swift’s next tour set to kick off on Friday, the singer revealed that a song she wrote on her last tour could make the final cut for her next album, whenever she feels the need to begin work on it. “I was in Madrid, and I was in my hotel room all day. And I was going through this crazy, emotional [thing] and I wrote a song about it and it’ll probably be on the next record,” she teased. “I’m telling you that. I’ll tell you [the title] afterwards.” That isn’t quite the strangest place that Swift has ever received some inspiration. During the sit-down, she opened up about getting an idea for a song and having to be creative about how she jotted it down. “The weirdest [place] I have ever written a song is probably in an airport, and I got an idea so fast that I had to run to the bathroom at the airport, grab a paper towel and write lyrics on the paper towel,” she explained. “I still have it. Brown/Getty Images The death of Cali Swag District member M-Bone has not only affected the dancer’s family and friends, but the hip-hop community as well. In light of the overwhelming response to his untimely death, the family of the CSD artist (born Mante Talbert) has decided to open up his funeral to the public. “There has been a tremendous outreach of concern and the family would like to have the funeral open to the public and fans that would like to support,” Cali Swag’s publicist said in a statement released on Friday (May 20). For fans wanting to attend, services will take place on Friday, May 27, at 11 a.m. PT at Faithful Central on 333 W. Florence Avenue in Inglewood, California. On May 15, at approximately 10:30 p.m. PT, 22-year old M-Bone was shot twice in the head while sitting in his car on La Brea Avenue in Inglewood. Despite reports that Talbert was killed by a neighbor who was jealous of his success, police still have no clear-cut motive and no arrest has been made, according to an Inglewood homicide detective who spoke to MTV News on Friday.
