Britney Spears’ Producer Opens Up About Her New Album

‘She is actually damn professional,’ Shellback says in radio interview. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Eric Charbonneau/ Le Studio/ Wireimage Britney Spears fans are gearing up for the release of the singer’s new music in 2011. With the album due out in March , and a single expected to drop before then, details are slowly emerging about the music and what it was like to work with Spears on the follow-up to 2008’s Circus . “Right now we are preparing for Britney’s upcoming album, which will be released in March. Some other things too, but the main focus is the album,” Swedish producer Shellback said in a recent radio interview . “It works in many different ways [when you work with Britney]. You can make something absolutely new, or take a beat that’s three years old and come up with a good sound.” Shellback, who worked with Pink on “Raise Your Glass,” collaborated with Dr. Luke and Max Martin on music for Spears. The producers are donating a guitar they used on the album to charity. “[Britney]’s actually damn professional. You read a lot on the Internet that Britney is not singing and mimes, but she is actually damn professional,” Shellback said. “She’s done it since she was 16. And just rhythmic way, she is f—ing awesome! And you do not have to go through and talk about the rhythms and stuff that you sometimes have to do. She’s very easy in the studio.” Spears has shared her excitement about the new album with fans via her Twitter page . “I’m almost done with my new album and it will be coming out this March,” she wrote. “I AM IN L-O-V-E WITH IT!” Are you excited for Britney’s new album? Kings Of Leon Tour Bus Fire Postpones London Show

Fire began on one bus, spread to another in O2 arena’s loading area. By James Dinh Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill Photo: Bryan Bedder/ Getty Images Kings of Leon scorched the charts with their hit song “Sex on Fire,” but on Tuesday morning (December 21) it was their tour bus that caught fire, forcing the rock band to postpone their sold-out O2 arena show in London. According to BBC News , the fire began on one coach in the venue’s loading area before spreading to another bus; eventually, the buses were completely burned out. Sixty firefighters and ambulance crews were on-site, and six people were treated for excessive smoke inhalation. There were no serious injuries reported. While the fire didn’t impact the seating or stage areas of the O2 arena, the entire venue had to be evacuated. A spokesperson for the O2 addressed the incident: “Unfortunately due to this morning’s fire on board one of the tour buses at the O2, tonight’s Kings of Leon concert will now be postponed,” said a statement on the O2 website. “Whilst there is no damage to the O2 there is now insufficient time to rig the arena for tonight’s performance.” The spokesperson emphasized that the crew had worked hard to follow protocol and made every attempt to go on with the show, but found there simply wasn’t enough time to set up for the evening performance. A rep for Kings of Leon said that Tuesday’s concert in London had sold out “months ago,” and a new date would be announced shortly. Related Artists Kings Of Leon

Cher Recalls VMA Meeting With Justin Bieber

‘I felt like I should cover up before I take a picture with this baby,’ pop legend says of meeting Bieber while wearing racy ’80s outfit. By Jocelyn Vena Cher at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images Cher turned heads at the VMAs back in September when she proudly showed up in the same barely there outfit she wore for her 1989 “If I Could Turn Back Time” video. However, the 64-year-old pop icon admits that she began feeling a bit inappropriately dressed when she was introduced to Justin Bieber that evening. “I thought, ‘I’ll do myself in a decade’, and that [body stocking] was the closest thing I had. And then someone said, ‘Will you take a picture with Justin Bieber,’ and I said, ‘Sure’, not knowing who he was,” she recently recalled to British talk-show host Graham Norton. “And then this child, who came up to here [my chest], and I felt like I should cover up before I take a picture with this baby.” Of course, Bieber wasn’t the only up-and-coming star Cher had the pleasure of meeting that night. She also had the honor of holding Lady Gaga’s meat purse when the latter singer took the stage to accept a Moonman in the now-infamous meat dress. “Well, I wear that every night in Las Vegas, so I just whipped it out,” Cher said recently to MTV News of her scanty VMA getup. “I didn’t have time to think of, like, getting a costume. So I had it and thought it would just be fun to just take off on myself, not knowing I was going to be handling the meat purse. “But, you know, there’s those moments you just remember [forever],” she added. ” ‘Here, Cher, will you hold my meat purse?’ ” Related Photos Justin Bieber’s VMA Night Behind The Scenes At The 2010 VMAs Related Artists Cher Justin Bieber

What Lunar Eclipse? A Look At The ‘Eclipse’ Cast’s Top Quotes

We pay homage to the recent astronomical event by paying homage to ‘Eclipse.’ By Jocelyn Vena Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in “Eclipse” Photo: Summit On early Tuesday morning, astronomy freaks had the pleasure of seeing a lunar eclipse take place on the winter solstice for the first time since 1638. It certainly isn’t the first eclipse to take place this year, however. This summer, Hollywood saw a major “Eclipse” when the third film in “The Twilight Saga” was released in June. So, in honor of this week’s historic event, we take a look at some of the castmembers’ best quotes about their own “Eclipse.” Everyone was buzzing about that tent scene and it seems like it delivered. When MTV News spoke to Elizabeth Reaser about the scene, which Taylor Lautner admitted was his favorite , she had a very interesting take on the whole thing. “The tent scene is sort of a three-way — I mean, it’s a chaste three-way, but it is, nonetheless, a three-way,” Reaser said. “So I do think that ups the sexiness factor in this movie, but I don’t know. The first movie, I thought, was intensely sexy, because [Bella and Edward] couldn’t touch, and to watch them fall in love was so sexy. And I love that, in the books, they all have great chemistry. So it’s fun to watch.” Much of the Bella/Jacob love story is chaste, but as Kristen Stewart pointed out around the release of “Eclipse,” she could see why Bella would consider life with Jacob, especially during that epic battle sequence. “There’s a moment right before the big battle happens; Jacob gets emotional and crazy, and he’s gonna try and hurt himself and fight,” Stewart said about one of her favorite scenes. “And [Bella] gets to a point where the only way to save him is to kiss him, and what surprises her is, she’s not only able to do it; she can clearly see that he offers a really desirable path that, before, because she was so obsessed with Edward … she just had to like nothing else. She had no perspective, and so it’s a moment.” Robert Pattinson apparently doesn’t enjoy filming action sequences for the “Twilight” movies, but he said he had less of a problem with the ones in “Eclipse.” “You’re always wearing skinny jeans, a little blazer and a kind of woolen sweater and trying to act like you’re tough,” he laughed. “You just know it’s not going to happen. For some reason, I felt a lot more comfortable with the action stuff this time.” Of course, no “Twilight” movie would be complete without seeing Jacob shirtless, and Lautner admitted that disrobing for this film was a lot easier than in the series’ previous installment. “It’s better when it’s warmer,” Lautner joked . ” ‘Eclipse’ was better than ‘New Moon’ because we filmed it in the summer. But it’s still a little different when I’m the only person on set with a shirt off.” Related Videos ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ Clips ‘Eclipse’ Hits New York City Related Photos ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’

Bret Michaels Proposes To Longtime Girlfriend

Poison frontman popped the question on his VH1 reality show ‘Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It.’ By Jayson Rodriguez Bret Michaels Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images Bret Michaels and his girlfriend finally hit the right note. The “Rock of Love” and “Celebrity Apprentice” star proposed to his on-again, off-again companion of 16 years, Kristi Gibson, during the finale of his latest VH1 reality show, “Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It.” The episode centered on the couple’s anniversary and whether or not Michaels would pop the question. The Poison singer hinted at his intentions during an appearance on “The Wendy Williams Show.” “I bought you that ring, not to be a friendship with benefits … we’ve had that for a while,” Michaels told Gibson, the mother of his two daughters, as he proposed. “It’s just one of those things. “I love you and I respect you and you’ve been through so much with me,” he continued. “It means something to me.” Just last month, Michaels made headlines when he was named the possible reason behind Disney star Miley Cyrus’ parents’ divorce . The singer emphatically denied the allegations, however, explaining that he is just a friend of the family. “I’ve been friends with her family forever,” Michaels explained during a TV appearance. “It started out with me and Miley simply working on a song together. Her mom, Tish, likes ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn,’ the first concert Miley ever saw was Poison, and so they wanted to remake it for the new record. … When I was in the studio, Miley came in and sang on my song … and that was it.” Earlier this year, Michaels landed in the hospital twice for emergency surgeries. The Rock star recovered and eventually went on to an inspiring win on Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice.” Related Photos Bret Michaels’ Career In Photos Related Artists Bret Michaels

Chris Brown Completes Yearlong Domestic Violence Course

Singer posted a picture his course-completion certificate on Twitter. By Jayson Rodriguez Chris Brown Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images Chris Brown completed his domestic violence course on Monday, and the proud graduate posted a picture of his certificate on Twitter to share with his followers. The singer was sentenced to a domestic violence course in August 2009 after he reached a plea deal with Beverly Hills prosecutors in the wake of his conviction on charges of assault against then girlfriend Rihanna . Brown was required to take the once-a-week class for one year. The “Deuces” star was also sentenced to 180 days of community labor, placed on five years probation and issued a stay-away order from Rihanna. “I have enough self-respect and decency to be proud of accomplishing this DV class,” Brown tweeted on Tuesday morning (December 21) about the end of his sentence. “Boyz run from their mistakes. Men learn from them!!! thx.” Just last month, Brown once again earned praise from the judge overseeing his case, Patricia Schnegg. “Of all probationers I’ve ever had, and I’ve had thousands of probationers, no one has ever done a better or more consistent job than you have,” she told Brown “And I really want to commend you for taking responsibility, and for actually working diligently to complete all of the things the court has required of you.” The singer is due back in court on January 28 for his next status hearing. Lil Wayne Thanks Fans With Preview Of Rolling Stone Shoot

‘Thank you for making ‘6 Foot 7 Foot’ #1 on iTunes,’ Weezy writes. By Paul Cantor Lil Wayne in Rolling Stone Photo: DJ Scoob Doo On the heels of his performance alongside Eminem on “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend, Lil Wayne took to his blog WeezyThanxYou.com to express appreciation to his fans as well as offer a glimpse of a recent shoot he did for his upcoming Rolling Stone cover story. “The shoot was in Miami two weeks ago, and just being able to do this type of stuff again is therapeutic,” he wrote. “Be sure to pick up the issue when it hits stands. Thank you to the people at Rolling Stone for the opportunity.” The behind the scenes photo was taken by DJ Scoob Doo and shows Wayne standing shirtless in a photo studio with a pair of fluorescent sun glasses on, presumably looking at the Rolling Stone photographer’s lens. Wayne also thanked fans for supporting the first single from Tha Carter IV “6 Foot 7 Foot.” The song, which samples elements of Jamaican folk song “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song),” rocketed up the iTunes charts and landed at #1 in less than a week. “Thank you for making ‘6 Foot 7 Foot’ #1 on iTunes,” he wrote, “you will continue to be #1 in my heart.” Wayne is just starting to reemerge in public after being released from prison in early November. His appearance on “SNL” was his first televised appearance since then. On the show, he performed Eminem’s single “No Love,” from Recovery. Em ceded the spotlight after performing “Won’t Back Down,” and Wayne went into an electric-guitar-laden take of “6 Foot 7 Foot.” Of the highly anticipated performance, DJ Scoob Doo said, “The energy in the building is historical, and it’s extra special to see everybody fight for position backstage to see Lil Wayne take over ‘SNL.’ ” Related Artists Lil Wayne

Akon, Jason Derulo Make 2010 The Year Of The Self-Referential Song

Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Eminem also among the artists who have shouted out their own names in their tunes this year. By Jocelyn Vena Akon Photo: Matt Jelonek/ Getty Images This past weekend on “Saturday Night Live,” Akon joined the Lonely Island guys in a hilarious video for a new song called “I Just Had Sex,” in which the singer proudly sings his own name, as well as the group’s. , meanwhile also got self-referential at the VMAs, when she Auto-Tuned her way through a pre-taped bit with Best New Artist nominee Jason Derulo. And, to be fair, we here at MTV News have been obsessed with pop stars singing their own names in songs for the bulk of 2010, prompted by Derulo’s epic use of the device in several of his hits. Folks like Derulo, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj (“Right Thru Me”), Kanye West (“Dark Fantasy”) and, obviously, Akon join a list of two decades’ worth of pop artists who have taken it upon themselves to brand their tracks with their own names. In the ’80s, stars like Janet Jackson, Beastie Boys and New Kids on the Block proudly proclaimed who they were in their songs. Moving into the ’90s, “TRL” staples such as the Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez, Kid Rock and Eminem all blasted their monikers on their tracks, letting fans know just who was singing or rapping through hits like Rock’s “Bawitdaba” and BSB’s “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).” As the new millennium approached and the musical landscape became more and more flooded with pop stars, it became a regular practice, with everyone from Ciara to M.I.A. to Fergie to Beyonc

2010 In 60 Seconds: Comebacks By Kanye, Eminem, Betty White And More

MTV News’ pop-culture expert Jim Cantiello takes a look back at the year that was: all in a minute. By James Montgomery Kanye West Photo: Jean Baptiste Lacroix/ WireImage Well, 2010 is nearly in the books, and if you’re a fan of octogenarians on the comeback trail, “California Gurls” gone wild and swoop-haired Canadian teenagers, congratulations on the best year of your life! Yes, it was quite a ride … Kanye West returned to top form, Eminem recaptured his old magic, Taylor Swift moved a million, Rihanna proved to be unstoppable, Katy Perry proved the doubters wrong and Ke$ha, well, she just proved to be Ke$ha. Lady Gaga dared to speak out, Weezy went away, and a host of new stars — everyone from Drake to Justin Bieber to Willow Smith — stepped up to the plate. In pop culture, we were mesmerized by the exploits of everyone from Amber Portwood to Zac Efron, obsessed with the likes of Antoine Dobson and the “Pants on the Floor” guy, cheered on Betty White and vilified Mel Gibson (and probably Miley, too). We watched as our favorite couples went their separate ways, said goodbye to “Lost,” “The Hills” and Jay Leno (whom we then said hello to all over again), and went absolutely crazy for the iPad. Oh, and everything in the universe was made in 3-D. And all of that was just the tip of a rather sizeable iceberg. It’s pretty difficult to sum up 2010 in any way, so let’s just say it was the “most” year in recent memory. The most stars, the most scandals, the most use of the word “vuvuzela.” There were more shake-ups, breakups and comebacks than we can even remember … so it’s a good thing we’ve got MTV News’ pop culture expert Jim Cantiello to do it for us. Here’s his look back on the year that was … in 60 seconds, of course. Ready? Go. Related Videos 2010 In 60 Seconds Related Artists Kanye West Eminem
