Eminem Announces Radio Broadcast Of Home And Home Show

The rap superstar’s satellite radio station to air one of his and Jay-Z’s recent Detroit concerts ‘as a special treat’ on New Year’s Eve. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem and Jay-Z perform in Detroit’s Home and Home concert Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Eminem has had a big 2010, from being named MTV’s Hottest MC in the Game to scoring a slew of Grammy nominations for his critically revered Recovery . As a result, the iconic rapper announced on Monday (December 20) via his satellite radio station, Shade 45, that he would broadcast one of the Home and Home concerts he and Jay-Z played in Detroit earlier this year. “As a special treat, for the listeners and the fans who missed the ‘Home and Home’ concerts with me and Jay-Z, Shade 45 is gonna air my performance from the Detroit show this New Year’s Eve at 8 p.m.,” Em said. The pair played four shows, two in each artist’s hometown, Detroit and New York . The gigs, which featured a number guest performers, went off without a hitch and were praised by fans and peers alike. Dr. Dre credited the event with inspiring him to finally put the finishing touches on his long-awaited Detox project. “Being on the stage with Eminem and Jay-Z was one of the most incredible feelings I’ve felt in a long time,” Dre said in September. “It inspired me, it made me want to hurry up and get back in the studio and put more effort and more work into my own project.” “If you weren’t there, this is what it sounded like,” Em said, dryly, while joking with Shade 45 general manager Rob “Reef” Tewlow. “It felt great, man,” Eminem added about the experience. “It was crazy. The energy of the crowd. Just me being home, you know? I don’t know, man — it’s a good thing. Blessed.” Do you plan on tuning in to Em’s Home and Home broadcast on New Year’s Eve? Gwyneth Paltrow Admits Hosting Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Swift At Dinner

‘I wonder how people find out these things,’ Paltrow says of party attended by the couple. By Jocelyn Vena Gwyneth Paltrow Photo: Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic This fall the world has been entranced by Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift’s romance , watching them canoodle their way through coffee shops and ice cream parlors. So when an Us Weekly report hit the Web indicating that Gwyneth Paltrow might have been the one to introduce them, USA Today made it its job to find out about the alleged November dinner party the Oscar winner hosted for the pair. “Where is this coming from?” Paltrow asked the newspaper. “I’ve just known Jake for a long time and he’s a great guy, and [husband Chris Martin] has a friendship with Taylor.” Paltrow, who’s currently doing press for her role as a country singer in the film “Country Strong,” added that she didn’t want to say much else about it. “Well, I’m scared to say,” she said. “It’s so weird. I wonder how people find out these things. It was a while ago, so I don’t know why it would come out today.” While Paltrow was tight-lipped, a source was eager to share all with Us. “Jake and Taylor were driven from the Dorchester Hotel to Gwyneth and Chris Martin’s house in Primrose Hill for dinner. Gwyneth seems to have played a role in their relationship,” the source said. Neither Swift nor Gyllenhaal has said much about their relationship, but back in November, shortly after the couple was first spotted together, Swift said , “I’m always optimistic about love. Yes, always, sometimes.” Related Videos The Evolution Of: Gwyneth Paltrow Related Photos The Evolution Of: Gwyneth Paltrow Related Artists Taylor Swift

Lady Gaga Dishes On Born This Way During London Show

During her concert on Friday, the pop star said her upcoming album ‘doesn’t have a bunch of rock ballads,’ confirmed that it will feature ‘You and I.’ By James Dinh Lady Gaga (file) Photo: Derek Storm/ Splash News Throughout the year, Lady Gaga has not only talked up her forthcoming album, Born This Way, but she’s also previewed a few new tracks that may or may not appear on the release. On songs like “You and I” and “Living on the Radio,” Gaga strays from her usual dance-hit formula to explore a more Elton John-esque sound. However, during her recent Monster Ball Tour stop at London’s O2 Arena on Friday, the pop star told the roaring audience that the project won’t be full of too many piano-driven ballads. After asking concertgoers if they wanted to hear a new song, Mother Monster said , “Want to hear ‘You and I’? This one is going to be on Born This Way. It’s one of my favorites. The album doesn’t have a bunch of rock ballads or anything, but this is one of them.” Following her chit-chat with the audience, Gaga launched into tune, which finds the singer recalling a reunion with a lover. “There’s something, something about this place/ Something about lonely nights and my lipstick on your face/ Something, something about my cool Nebraska guy/ Yeah something about/ Baby you and I,” she sang while pounding away on her piano. In the midst of her “You and I” performance, the songbird took time to give herself props for the originality and creativity she puts into her material. “Now I don’t know if you know this, but for those of you who don’t know, I write all my own music,” she announced. “Every single lyric, melody and note was created by me. I am not manufactured. I’m a bad cat and coming for you ’cause I believe in you and I.” Later on in the song, she added, “It’s not that I don’t like to be humble, it’s just that pop music has a pretty bad rap,” before indulging in some of her usual impulsive piano antics. Gaga’s Little Monsters can expect to hear even more new tunes as early as February. Just a few weeks ago, she told fan site Lady-Gaga.net that the lead single from Born This Way will be released that month, while comparing the album to “bad kids going to church, having fun on a high level.” What kind of tracks are you looking forward to hear on Born This Way ? Waka Flocka Flame Speaks On Home Raid

‘Why would I rap and go try to street gang bang? That’s hustling backwards,’ rapper says in radio interview. By Mawuse Ziegbe Waka Flocka Flame Photo: Johnny Nunez/WireImage Waka Flocka Flame is focused on one career, and it doesn’t involve being a street hustler. The Atlanta rapper’s home was raided by police on Thursday for an investigation reportedly related to weapons, drugs and prostitution. The MC’s mother and manager, Deb Antney, has denied to MTV News that prostitution was a factor in the raid, and on Saturday, Waka batted away allegations that he is involved in any type of illegal activity. During a sit-down with radio station Hot 93.7 in Hartford, Connecticut, the “O Let’s Do It” rapper, who wasn’t at home at the time of the raid, described how he learned his place had been busted by authorities. “I had to go to court for a little traffic ticket for driving too fast. I was coming out the court, I had to use the bathroom. So my road manager G-Boy, he’s like, ‘Ay, man, police just raided the house.’ I’m like, ‘What? What they want? They want to find some CDs? What they comin’ in there for?’ ” he said. The rapper denied he was involved in any shady dealings, maintaining he has no plans to juggle life in the streets and the spotlight. “Why would I rap and go try to street gang bang? That’s hustling backwards. Why would I wanna rap all around the world and then go hit the streets and gang bang? I’m a rapper, I’m not a [gang-banger.] How can you gang bang and be a rapper? I don’t understand that,” he said. “I would love to find out where their information is coming from. I can’t wait.” He also swatted away Web rumors that one of his associates, who reportedly appeared in a video that was making the rounds in the blogosphere, tipped off police. “That ain’t true. Hey, this is the internet. I don’t know what’s going on, I didn’t even see [the video], keep it gangsta,” Waka said. The MTV News “Hottest MCs” pick pointed to the breakout success of the past year as one of the main reasons he plans to keep his business out of the streets. “I’m good. I dropped the album, Flockaveli, doing numbers. ‘No Hands,’ I think it’s platinum or it’s on the road to be. I’m in the top three albums of the year, ’cause I don’t know nobody selling past me and Gucci and probably Wayne or Nicki and West or somebody or Ross. Other than that, these folks is losing out here,” he said. “I’m good, I got shows every week. I’m straight. Team good, I’m eatin’. New label, Brick Squad Monopoly, Gucc about to drop two mixtapes, I just executive produced one of them. I’m going in, man.” Related Artists Waka Flocka Flame

Eminem and Lil Wayne Rock ‘Saturday Night Live’

Superstars team up for “No Love” and split the stage for “Won’t Back Down” and “6’7” on holiday-themed episode. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lil Wayne and Eminem perform “No Love” on “SNL” on Dec. 18 Photo: NBC Eminem and Lil Wayne sent “Saturday Night Live” viewers into the holiday season with a double dose of hip-hop over the weekend. The rap luminaries first rocked Em’s steely Haddaway-sampling joint “No Love,” backed by a live band on a set decked out in festive holiday decorations. Both MCs kept their style casually cool: Wayne rocked a white T-shirt and black plants while Em sported a brown jacket and gray beanie. Weezy spit the first verse with his signature unhinged energy, asserting his return to the live-television circuit. Em helmed the rest of the song, nimbly dropping his lyrics with abandon. The MCs split up for the final performance, with Eminem kicking things off with the Pink-assisted cut “Won’t Back Down.” Outfitted in a black jacket and cap, Em rocked the joint with the help of a hype man, spitting bars like, “How you douche bags feel?/ Knowing you’re disposable, Summer’s Eve, Massengill.” When Em wrapped up, the Detroit MC ceded the mic to Weezy, who hopped up onstage solo for the recently released “6’7″.” The live electric guitar-laced version was a super-charged departure from the Bangladesh-crafted banger, with Wayne knocking out the lyrics with his high-powered flow and vibing with a slew of similarly amped musicians. The “SNL” appearance is the latest team-up in a long list collaborations between the Shady boss and the Young Money captain. Em guested on Weezy’s “Drop the World” from the New Orleans vet’s rock-centric album “Rebirth.” Wayne returned the favor for Em’s Recovery cut “No Love.” Other hitmakers also popped up on Saturday night’s broadcast, which was hosted by “Tron Legacy” star Jeff Bridges. Akon helped Lonely Planet bust out an ode to gettin’ it on, belting “I just had sex!” Blake Lively and Jessica Alba made cameos as comely conquests as the crew gamely sang, “I’ll never go back to the not-having-sex ways of the past.” On “The Miley Cyrus Show” skit, featured player Vanessa Bayer played a giggly, hyper version of the teen starlet, and poked fun at the “Can’t Be Tamed” singer’s much-publicized salvia bong hit . Bayer’s Cyrus explained her “five-minute drug problem,” saying, “so, what happened was, I got really high — like really high.” Veteran actor Bridges also showed off his acting chops in several skits, playing an effeminate cowboy who doles out gussied-up Christmas presents, and starring in his own prank show “Jeff’d,” in which he messes with celebrity pals like Billy Bob Thornton and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Paramore Confirm Farro Brothers Have Left Band

In a statement Saturday, band confirm rumors that they have parted ways with Josh and Zac Farro. By James Montgomery Jeremy Davis, Hayley Williams, Josh Farro and Zac Farro of Paramore Photo: Jason Kempin/WireImage On Saturday (December 18), Paramore announced that brothers Josh and Zac Farro were leaving the band, confirming rumors that had begun swirling earlier in the week. In a blog post on the band’s official site Paramore wrote that the Farros had actually decided to leave the group “a couple of months ago,” and that, while fans might be shocked by the news, the remaining three members — frontwoman Hayley Williams, bassist Jeremy Davis and guitarist Taylor York — weren’t. “None of us were really shocked. For the last year it hasn’t seemed as if they wanted to be around anymore,” the statement read in part. “We want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy and if that isn’t here with us, then we support them finding happiness elsewhere.” The Farro brothers — guitarist Josh and drummer Zac — founded Paramore with Williams and Davis in 2004 (York was made an official member of the band around the release of 2009’s Brand New Eyes album), and though the group has lost two of its core members, they pledged to continue on … with a South American tour scheduled for February and, as York told MTV News earlier this month, a new album. “We never for a second thought about leaving any of this behind. We really hope that you can be encouraged by the fact that the three of us who are still here are ready to take on another chapter of our journey together,” the statement read. “You have always been what keeps us going so why would we stop now? We want to stick by you. Knowing that we have a unified passion and a clear vision makes us feel stronger than ever.” Earlier this week, a blog post announcing the Farros departure began making the rounds. And though it was credited to the band, in their statement on Saturday, Paramore denounced it as “a fake.” “The ‘blog’ that was posted regarding everything that is going on with our band …we aren’t sure who did it or why… And we aren’t sure how they timed it this way,” their statement read. “This is the first time that we have spoken out about what’s going on and we wouldn’t have released an official statement that important through a personal blog. So, we’re sorry for any confusion and just to remain clear, this is the first time we have spoken out about this.” Paramore concluded by thanking their fans for standing by them, and promised that 2011 will be a big year for the band. Farro brothers, or not. “We have some amazing things lined up for next year starting with our tour in South America. We are still coming to you and we are excited about who we are bringing with us! The tour is still on and we can’t wait to see you all,” they wrote. “As we look back, and now as we look with excitement to the future, in all of this what truly matters are the good times. The pictures of us with our arms around each other, the long van rides, your faces while you sing along as we play. Thank you for getting us right here to this very moment. We look forward to our best times. And we hope you will go there with us.” What do you think about the Farro brothers leaving Paramore? Let us know in the comments! Lady Gaga, Katy Perry React To ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ Repeal

Ellen DeGeneres, Pink and more celebrate historic Senate vote on Twitter. By Mawuse Ziegbe Members of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network join Lady Gaga at the 2010 MTV VMAs Photo: Getty Images The armed forces’ controversial “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy will soon be history. On Saturday (December 18), the Senate voted to repeal the 17-year-old measure that bars openly gay men and women from serving in the military. The bill passed by a 65-31 margin, according to CNN , which included eight republicans and one independent who joined the Democrat-backed initiative. President Obama will sign the bill into law next week. “Today, the Senate has taken an historic step toward ending a policy that undermines our national security while violating the very ideals that our brave men and women in uniform risk their lives to defend. By ending ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ no longer will our nation be denied the service of thousands of patriotic Americans forced to leave the military, despite years of exemplary performance, because they happen to be gay. And no longer will many thousands more be asked to live a lie in order to serve the country they love,” the president said in a statement . Calls to dismantle the policy ramped up this year with stars such as Lady Gaga decrying the measure and demonstrations cropping up around the nation. On Wednesday, the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who had been crusading to end the policy, tweeted to Gaga after the vote, “We did it! #DADT is a thing of the past.” Gaga, who arrived at the 2010 MTV VMAs with openly gay service members who had been discharged or left the military due to the policy, made viral videos and spoke at a September rally calling for the end of DADT, tweeted about her emotional reaction to the vote. “Can’t hold back the tears+pride. We did it!i Our voice was heard + today the Senate REPEALED DADT. A triumph for equality after 17 YEARS,” she wrote . Openly gay talk-show queen Ellen DeGeneres tweeted , “Thank you Senators for pushing us one step closer towards full equality.” Katy Perry showed her support for the repeal of DADT by responding to a missive that fellow songstress Pink retweeted. “SUPPORTING ALL OUR TROOPS!” Perry added to Pink’s retweet, “RT @Pink: Congrats 2 US!!! REPEAL of DADT & 17 years of allowing Human Rights Violations. There’s hope after all!” Former army lieutenant and gay-rights activist Dan Choi, who has called for an end to the policy since he was discharged from service after publicly coming out in 2009, also gave his take on the vote. “Thank you, Democrats, for your leadership,” he tweeted . “There: I said it. Also, thank you 8 Republicans. You’re on the right side of history.” MTV News also caught up with student Bridget Todd , who once questioned President Obama about DADT during the commander-in-chief’s “A Conversation with President Obama” forum in October. Although Todd said she was skeptical of the president’s commitment to ending the policy after the Obama administration asked for stay blocking a judge’s ruling that the measure is unconstitutional, she said the Senate vote has restored some of her faith in the U.S. leader. “I think it’s fantastic. I’m over the moon about it,” Todd said. “It’s sort of strange that it’s 2010 and we’re dealing with this so I’m happy that it’s done, I’m happy that it’s gonna be over with. “I think I said that he displayed an alleged commitment to gay equality,” she continued. “I think that this sort of proves that perhaps he is actually committed to these issues. They’re not just sort of political talking points that you use to get elected — that this is something that he is willing to make happen.” What do you think about the Senate voting to repeal DADT?
