B.o.B Predicts VMAs Will Be ‘One Hell Of A Show’

‘I really want to see what everyone has up their sleeve as far as performances go,’ MC says. By Jayson Rodriguez B.o.B Photo: MTV News B.o.B is not only taking the stage to perform during the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards , but the Atlanta rapper is up for a number of awards himself, from Best Male Video to Best Hip-Hop Video. So while he sits in the house at the Nokia Theatre, he’ll have a front-row seat to take in the show. Although Florence and the Machine are favorites of the “Nothin’ on You” star, he told MTV News he’s looking forward to all of the performances. From Drake to Usher to Justin Bieber, B.o.B said he thinks everyone is going to deliver. “I really want to see what everyone has up their sleeve as far as performances go,” he explained. ” ‘Cause for me, I take performing very seriously. So I can bet everyone else is like that. So it’s gonna be one hell of a show.” B.o.B has had a good year, as the upstart MC scored a #1 debut album and three top 10 hits, “Nothin’ on You,” “Airplanes” and “Magic.” The lanky lyricist will take the stage to perform “Nothin’ on You” with Bruno Mars and then “Airplanes” with Paramore’s Hayley Williams. The Saturday rehearsal with B.o.B, Bruno Mars and Williams was relaxed and filled with plenty of impromptu moments. Bruno Mars and B.o.B each busted out into covers, of Drake’s “Find Your Love” and the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy,” respectively. And B.o.B and Williams, who had recorded “Airplanes” separately and later shot their parts for the video at different times, met for the first time . Florence And The Machine Get Revved Up For VMAs At Perez Hilton Bash

VMA-nominated band joined Taio Cruz, Pitbull and N.E.R.D at Perez Hilton’s party on Saturday night. By Jocelyn Vena Florence Welch at Perez Hilton’s Pre-VMA party Photo: Jason LaVeris/ Getty Images LOS ANGELES — While the rest of us have to wait until Sunday night to see VMA nominees Florence and the Machine re-create the chaotic beauty of their “Dog Days Are Over” video on the stage, the crowd at Perez Hilton’s One Night in Los Angeles bash at the Wiltern Theater on Saturday night got a special taste of the U.K. group’s spellbinding live set. Leading lady Florence Welch, decked out in a simple lingerie-inspired dress, kicked off the party with her tracks “Drumming Song” and “Kiss With a Fist.” Accompanied by a guitarist and harpist, she played to a packed house, which included celeb guests like “The Hills” star Lo Bosworth. In the short, three-song acoustic set (presumably to conserve energy for the VMAs ), Welch rocked the house with her powerhouse voice. “Thanks again,” she told the crowd before belting out her VMA-nominated track, “Dog Days Are Over.” After Florence left the stage, Perez Hilton came out to thank the crowd for coming. Performances by “Dynamite” singer Taio Cruz and Pitbull followed. Producer Kevin Rudolf, Dr. Hollywood and Skeet Skeet all served time in the DJ booth, and N.E.R.D. closed the night out with a loud, raucous set including fan favorites like “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” Perez later tweeted, “L.A. showed so much love tonight! It was SUCH a special evening! #OneNightInLosAngeles.” Tune in tonight for the 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards, broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles! Nicki Minaj Debuts Some Dance Moves In VMA Rehearsal

‘Making the Band’ choreographer backs up Young Money queen for pre-show performance. By Shaheem Reid Nicki Minaj at her VMA pre-show rehearsal on Saturday Photo: Rachel Goldner/ MTV News LOS ANGELES — Nicki Minaj is so popular right now she can shut down the scene anywhere she goes. On Saturday (September 11), her fans who happened to be downtown got a big surprise as Nick rehearsed her VMA pre-show performance , practicing “Your Love” and her brand-new single with Will I Am, “Check It Out.” Although Nicki’s performance was outside, fans, members of her entourage, various MTV crewmembers and anyone sitting in one of the J.W. Marriott hotel’s lounges could see Nick go to work. “Get it! Get it!” veteran choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson — who MTV viewers will remember from Diddy’s “Making the Band” — yelled after every Minaj “ow ow!” at the beginning of “Check It Out.” “Get it, girl!” Gibson encouraged again. Two female dancers started in front of the crowd and grooved to “Your Love,” then there was a reveal of the Young Money queen, who stood with her head down and arms folded. Wearing a pink tank top, black leather jacket and black leggings, Minaj moved forward and danced in sync with her backup ladies. Expect plenty of movement and plenty of energy come Sunday night. Nicki — who’s known for her lyrical acumen and facial expressions (she made those faces in rehearsal too!), but not for dancing — can hold down some steps. “Amaaaazing,” Gibson yelled at the end of another run-through. There were a few mechanical problems with a key piece of equipment for the stage that’s also an integral part of Nick’s reveal. However, the crew seemed to have the matter under control toward the end of rehearsal. During her last practice round, Nicki and her dancers switched up the entire beginning of the show. Instead of just playing “Your Love,” Nicki went right into “Check It Out.” There was also smoke that time and more applause from Nick’s biggest cheerleader today, Laurie Ann. After the rehearsal, Nicki walked through the lobby taking pictures and even giving a couple of hugs to fans. “Oh my God. She is so real!” one lady said after taking a pic with Nicki. The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday.
