Justin Bieber Is Big Floyd Mayweather Fan, 50 Cent Says

Rapper tells MTV News about being at Mayweather’s match against Miguel Cotto with the Biebs and Lil Wayne. By Rob Markman 50 Cent Photo: MTV News Everyone loves a champion, and currently there is no bigger boxing champ than Floyd “Money” Mayweather. Not only did the outspoken pugilist attract a record number of pay-per-view fans for his May 5 match against Miguel Cotto , he also brought music’s brightest stars to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on fight night. Of course 50 Cent was on hand to cheer on his buddy Floyd, and Justin Bieber and made their way to the ring as well. Many fight fans were surprised to see that the Biebs had been in Mayweather’s dressing room for the fight preparations; after that, JB walked with the undefeated Floyd to the ring, helping to hold the champ’s belts. “Justin is also a Floyd fan. They love the sport. A lot of people like it and haven’t actually made contact or received anything to make them feel like it was cool or comfortable enough for them to come,” 50 said about JB’s much-discussed ring walk. “When it actually happens and it goes down like that, it feels good. When they get a chance to see different genres, different people, everybody’s excited.” One of the more excited fans was Floyd’s daughter Iyanna, who, according to 50, was fixated on the teenage idol. “Floyd’s daughter, Yaya, she saw half the fight, the other half she was looking at Bieber,” the rapper joked. “He just got that thing for the younger generation, too — he’s it.” Some were also surprised to see Lil Wayne in the ring. In the past, he and 50 haven’t been the best of friends, so many assumed that Floyd would inherit Fif’s perceived rap beefs , but that isn’t the case. In fact, Mayweather is a Weezy fan; he listens to his music constantly while training. “Floyd has a huge passion for music that people don’t know about,” 50 explained. “It’s a big part of what makes him comfortable and takes his mind off of how hard he has to work to stay being the #1 fighter in the world. With Wayne’s music momentum, he’s a part of that; he’s been a part of the playlist, so it’s cool.” After Floyd dusted off Cotto in a unanimous decision, he, Bieber, Weezy and 50 all celebrated in the ring and even posed for a few pictures. Though Fif sported his patented menacing scowl, he insists that there was no problem whatsoever. “The pictures, when I’m not paying attention, they take some really weird facial expressions of me,” he said. “I’m like, ‘What the f— was I thinking at that point?’ It’s nothing there to make me feel uncomfortable.” Should Justin Bieber join Floyd Mayweather’s Money Team? R. Kelly To Drop Write Me Back Album In June

Pied Piper of R&B will roll out his 11th album on June 26. By Nadeska Alexis R. Kelly’s Write Me Back album cover Photo: RCA Records After taking a break from singing to undergo emergency throat surgery last year, R. Kelly is making an official return with his 11th studio album, Write Me Back, set for release on June 26. “Share My Love,” the lead single from Write Me Back, was released in February and has already made waves on radio. The latest cut, “Feelin’ Single” will be available digitally on May 29. The new LP is a follow-up to R. Kelly’s 2010 release Love Letter, which was an ode to music from the ’50s and ’60s. Back in December, Kells shocked fans when he announced that he would be adding 32 chapters to his popular “Trapped in the Closet” series , and in March it was confirmed that the series would be aired on IFC later this year. Twenty-two chapters exist thus far in the soap opera series that begins with a one-night stand and weaves into an extended tale of sex and lies, starring Kelly’s alter ego, Sylvester. “When I first began experiencing the unknown journey of writing ‘Trapped in the Closet,’ I knew after the first chapter that I had tapped into something that was not of this earth,” R. Kelly said in a statement at the time of the IFC announcement. “Being the nosy person that I am, I more than anyone wanted to know what the second chapter would be. And now here we are at chapter 23, trapped in the million dollar question — what the hell is the package? Well, ladies and gentlemen, not only am I ready to reveal what the package is, but I have many more chapters to share.” It’s set to be a pretty eventful year for the Pied Piper. In February, he was one of the entertainers at Whitney Houston’s funeral, performing a moving rendition of the late singer’s hit “I Look to You,” which he also wrote. Related Artists R. Kelly

Cannes Film Festival: Our Top 10 Must-See Movies

Films from Robert Pattinson (‘Cosmopolis’) and Kristen Stewart (‘On the Road’) have us pumped, along with eight others. By Kevin P. Sullivan Robert Pattinson in “Cosmopolis” Photo: Alfama Films Hollywood is officially headed to the French Riviera for the 65th Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off Wednesday. With so much of the attention Stateside focused squarely on the “Rob and Kristen Factor,” we thought it would be helpful to take a look at the lineup and share the films we are most excited about at the upcoming festival. Here are our top 10 most anticipated movies at the Cannes Film Festival: 10. “The Paperboy” This adaptation of the Peter Dexter novel marks Lee Daniels’ first film since making it big on the indie scene with “Precious.” “The Paperboy” promises a different direction for Daniels, telling the story of a reporter (John Cusack) who travels back to his home town to investigate a death-row case. 9. “Reality” Director Matteo Garrone made waves at Cannes in 2008 with his hyper-real look at Neapolitan organized crime, “Gomorrah,” which won the Grand Jury Prize that year. For this year’s festival, he returns with “Reality,” a look at the way we perceive life since the dawn of reality television. 8. “Cosmopolis” Robert Pattinson’s name alone has drawn much attention to this in-competition film, but the true nature of its intrigue lies with its director, David Cronenberg. With his adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel, Cronenberg, with the help of Pattinson, of course, looks to be revisiting the bizarre aesthetics and subject matters that made him famous in the 1980s. We’ve been waiting for this one ever since it won the MTV Movie Brawl 2012 back in January. 7. “Like Someone in Love” “Certified Copy,” the previous film from Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, earned Juliette Binoche a best actress award at Cannes in 2010, but the film itself is one of the best examples of pure art-house filmmaking in the past few years. With “Like Someone in Love,” Kiarostami shifts his focus from Italy to Japan but keeps the same entry point of a man and a woman who may or may not know each other. 6. “Amour” “The White Ribbon,” Michael Haneke’s previous film tangentially about the saplings of fascism in Germany, wowed audiences on the Croisette in 2009, and “Amour” seems poised to do the same. The film tells the story of Georges and Anne, an octogenarian couple whose bond comes under strain after one of them suffers an attack. 5. “On the Road” Similar to “Cosmopolis,” “On the Road” has drawn a great deal of attention because it features a “Twilight” star, in this case Kristen Stewart, but she only makes up an element of this insanely star-studded Jack Kerouac adaptation, which also stars Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen and Terrence Howard. 4. “Lawless” Formerly known as “Wettest County,” this Southern-set prohibition crime film boasts a cast featuring Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman and Guy Pearce and a critical darling of a director, John Hillcoat. The recently released trailer looks strong, and Hillcoat’s pedigree alone (his previous films include “The Proposition” and “The Road”) make this a must-see for the festival. 3. “Rust and Bone” A film about a whale trainer who loses a leg to an orca doesn’t necessary seem like Palme d’Or material, but “Rust and Bone” comes from director Jacques Audiard, who took the Grand Jury Prize in 2009 with the impressive “A Prophet,” and it stars Marion Cotillard as the unfortunate trainer. 2. “Killing Them Softly” It wouldn’t be surprising if you haven’t seen “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” but it would certainly be unfortunate. The western starring Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck debuted and left theaters quietly, but since 2007, the film has slowly gained a reputation as a modern classic. As director Andrew Dominik’s first film since “Jesse James,” “Killing Them Softly” stands out as both his reunion with Pitt and his much-anticipated follow-up. 1. “Mud” A writer/director may take a few films to nail down their voice and storytelling identity, but with his first two movies, Jeff Nichols has not only established himself as a serious filmmaker, but also one of the most exciting auteurs working today. Those films, “Shotgun Stories” and “Take Shelter,” are two genuine masterpieces of American filmmaking, and we look forward to his third feature film “Mud,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon. Does Demi Lovato Have ‘The X Factor’?

Experts break down Lovato’s casting on the Fox reality show to MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: MTV The world is still reacting to the now-confirmed news that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will sit together at the “The X Factor” judges table this fall . While their spots on the show remain among worst-kept secrets in recent memory, these two former Disney princesses will now set out to prove they are savvy enough to judge up-and-coming talent on the Fox competition series. While L.A. Reid, Simon Cowell and Spears bring decades of experience with them to the show, Lovato, only 19, may seem too much like a rookie on the surface. But, she’s already amassed the kind of experience performers triple her age could wish for. She’s released three albums, which have all landed top-five spots on the Billboard 200. She’s starred on the hit Disney series, “Sonny With a Chance” and was the female lead, alongside the Jonas Brothers, in both “Camp Rock” films, which were incredibly successful for the Mouse House. All the success at such a young age makes Lovato a perfect pick for the show. “They’re looking for female pop singers who can engage a younger audience,” Monica Herrera, a senior editor at Rolling Stone, told MTV News. “Demi seems like a good choice because she hits not just music fans, but TV fans and I think they’re kind of trying to find somebody who can hit all angles.” She may have tons of teenage Lovatics, but Keith Caulfield, associate director of charts/retail at Billboard, added that she still hasn’t yet permeated the adult market, which makes this the right time to make this move. “I thought it was interesting choice just because, I mean, she is a star, but she seems a bit under the radar to a degree so this is a great look for her because it’s going to elevate her visibility and give her a whole new audience and a great platform to introduce new material,” he said. “I think it’s a great opportunity for her to really expand her fanbase. I think a lot of people are going to discover Demi for the very first time.” And, that’s why, Herrera adds, she needs to strike while the iron is hot. “I think it’s definitely a smart move; I don’t think she can afford to wait at this point. I think that is kind of a way to jumpstart it and really get herself out there,” she explained. “Obviously she’s gonna want to put out an album timed to the fall show. She’ll have the team behind her to really kind of maximize this opportunity and put out a single and an album that will kind of get the lift that she really needs right now.” Caulfield notes that Lovato will serve as the perfect answer to Spears . “Demi, considering her history and frankly her years of experience, she’s gone through the ringer,” he said. “Demi is probably going to have more realistic commentary, probably not harsh but probably coming from the point of view of ‘I did this before.’ Certainly her and Britney have the X factor, that something about them that makes them stars, it’s hard to pin down. I think it’s going to be good. I think they’re both interesting choices.” So for anyone wondering if Lovato is still too young to mentor, well, Herrera says they should put those concerns aside. “I really think it does [help that she’s young], especially since they are skewing younger and younger with the contestants. I think someone like Demi would have been perfect for someone like Rachel Crow [who competed last season]. She obviously knows what it’s like to be thrust into the spotlight in that way from a really young age,” she said. “I really think that she can be that guiding force.” Do you think Demi Lovato has the “X Factor,” or is she too young? Lady Gaga Cancels Show In Indonesia After Protests

Islamic hard-liners worry that sexy clothes and dancing will corrupt youth. By Gil Kaufman Lady Gaga Photo: Lady Gaga’s Twitter Lady Gaga lives to provoke and push the envelope. But not everyone is up for her antics. The “Americano” singer has been forced to cancel her sold-out June 3 “Born This Way Ball” show at the 52,000-seat Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia after Islamic hard-liners and conservative lawmakers said her sexy costumes, suggestive dance moves and “vulgar” style could corrupt the nation’s youth. According to the Associated Press , a spokesperson for the national police said on Tuesday (May 15) that the permit for the show has been denied after religious conservatives worried that the concert could undermine the nation’s moral fiber. Some of the critics actually threatened to use physical force to prevent Gaga from getting off her plane. Though Indonesia is a secular state, it has the world’s largest population of Muslims and a small extremist fringe of religious leaders has been more vocal in recent years. “She’s a vulgar singer who wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil’s child and that she will spread satanic teaching,” said Salim Alatas, the Jakarta head of hardline Islamic Defender Front (FPI), according to Reuters . “This is dangerous.” Local police worried that they might not be able to guarantee security at the show and suggested to national police that the permit for what was to be Gaga’s biggest gig on her current Asian tour be pulled. Every seat at the Karno stadium had been sold, with half of them going in the first two hours. The AP reported that permits for shows are typically issued three weeks before concerts in Jakarta, so it is not uncommon for tickets to be sold well ahead of receiving a final permit. Gaga’s Asian tour started last month and the Indonesian flap is not the first bump she’s faced along the road. Gigs in South Korea
were 18-and-over because conservatives in that country also raised objections over the concert’s content. Related Artists Lady Gaga

Florence And The Machine’s ‘Snow White’ Video Debuts

‘Breath of Life’ clip features Florence Welch recording the epic song at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios. By James Montgomery Florence Welch records “Breath of Life” Photo: Universal/ Island Records When Florence Welch spoke to MTV News back in March about recording “Breath of Life” — her single off the “Snow White and the Huntsman” soundtrack — she couldn’t hide her excitement about writing an anthem from the perspective of Charlize Theron’s Evil Queen Ravenna … or getting to spend the day working with a 60-person choir in London’s historic Abbey Road Studios. “It was amazing to see the music we played being turned into this amazing orchestral thing,” the Florence and the Machine frontwoman gushed. “You feel in a bit of a way like you’re kind of making it up as you go along, and then when you see it done, laid out before you in such a beautiful, orchestral fashion, it’s really incredible. “And then we all went into Abbey Road and it was one of the best days of my life,” she continued. “I love choirs and I love choral music, and there was a 60-piece choir singing the vocal parts that I had written. When the baritones came in, I nearly wept, it was so emotional.” So it’s somewhat fitting that the video for “Breath of Life,” which premiered Monday (May 14), documents that day in the studio (there’s no weeping, however). Shot in arty black-and-white, and implemented with bonus battle footage from the film itself (plus plenty of scenes of Queen Ravenna’s quest for youth), the clip showcases Welch belting out the tune, backed by a booming orchestra and a keening chorus. And much like the song, it packs a punch. You can practically feel Welch’s emotion as she brings “Breath” to life, and for a song so massive, the video provides viewers with a rather intimate look into its creation. Combine that with the fact that the clip — and the song — perfectly match the film’s epic, ethereal scope, and the anticipation to see the final product only grows. The “Avengers” can assemble all they want … with “Breath of Life,” Welch and “Snow White” pack more power than anything in Iron Man’s arsenal. What do you think of the “Breath of Life” video? Lindsay Lohan’s ‘Glee’ Cameo: Co-Star Perez Hilton Weighs In!

Celebrity-gossip blogger skirts addressing Lohan’s alleged unprofessionalism while shooting this week’s ‘Nationals’ episode. By John Mitchell, with reporting by Audrey Kim Lindsay Lohan on “Glee” Photo: Adam Rose/ FOX Celebrity-gossip blogger Perez Hilton guest stars on this week’s big “Nationals” episode of “Glee,” but was uncharacteristically reluctant to address the rumors of fellow guest star Lindsay Lohan’s alleged on-set misbehavior when MTV News caught up with him at Wango Tango in Los Angeles this weekend. “I’m on ‘Nationals,’ a very important episode, and Lindsay Lohan is also on this episode,” Hilton told MTV News. “And it’s a nail-biter. Everybody has to watch.” When the conversation turned to allegations that Lohan was hours late to set and was difficult once she finally arrived, Hilton chose his words very carefully, turning the conversation back to himself — and in so doing, seemed to imply that Lohan was not at her professional best. Asked about talk of Lohan’s misbehavior, Hilton said, ” I showed up to set early and prepared and was very happy to be there and professional, excited and appreciative for the opportunity.” Rumors of on-set trouble erupted April 25, when actress Dot-Marie Jones, who plays Coach Beiste on the Fox hit, tweeted about an unnamed person’s late arrival to set, causing delays in filming. “Gonna be a long day!! Some ppl show up late and just throw a wrench in things,” Jones reportedly tweeted. “Not cool! I’d rather be an hour early (I was) than 5 minutes late!” Jones’ tweet has since been deleted. Regarding Lohan’s alleged tardiness, the actress’ rep, Steve Honig, told E! News that there was a mixup with her call time, and said any claims of problems on the “Glee” set are “utter B.S.” “This is a classic example of people trying to bash Lindsay. She busted her ass yesterday and is back on set again today,” he continued. Like Hilton, Lohan appears as herself on the episode. The pair play judges at the national singing competition the show’s choir, New Directions, participates in. Related Artists Lindsay Lohan
