MTV Movie Awards Host Aziz Ansari Gets Advice From Russell Brand, Sarah Jessica Parker, Snooki

Judd Apatow, past Movie Awards host Andy Samberg also give tips — show airs Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on MTV! By Eric Ditzian Aziz Ansari Photo: Robyn Beck/ AFP/ Getty Images UNIVERSAL CITY, California — It might be the biggest night of his life. On Sunday, June 6, at exactly 9 p.m. ET, 27-year-old Aziz Ansari will walk out onto the stage at the Gibson Amphitheatre to host the 2010 MTV Movie Awards . The seats will be filled with Hollywood’s elite, celebs will be frittering to and fro backstage as they await their various show duties, and millions of fans will be watching at home. In short, the pressure will be on … But it’s a job Aziz is ready for. From his co-starring spot on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” to his improv work on MTV’s “Human Giant” to his creation of bombastic comedian Raaaaaaaandy, one thing Ansari can be trusted to do is make people laugh, and then laugh some more. Still, the guy has got to be sweating a bit as the big day approaches. But luckily he’s got the support of Hollywood behind him, and the likes of Russell Brand, Sarah Jessica Parker and “Jersey Shore” star Snooki weighed in with advice for Ansari. “Hosting — it’s so hard!” said two-time VMA host Brand , not so much offering advice as a stern warning. “You’re there for ages. It’s all the panic, the dress rehearsals, people don’t turn up. It’s difficult.” Parker, conversely, had one helpful tip for Aziz’s body and mind. “I would say have plenty of fluids backstage, perhaps intravenously!” she said. “Jersey Shore” star Snooki — who will be MTV News’ guest correspondent on the Movie Awards red carpet Sunday — had one specific suggestion for the type of fluid Ansari would be wise to imbibe come Sunday night. “Just have a couple shots before you get on,” she said. “You’re probably going to be very nervous in front of all these celebrities, millions of people on TV. Pretty much, just down a bottle of tequila and you’re good. It washes off the nerves!” One man who’s quite familiar with those Movie Awards nerves is Andy Samberg, who hosted the show last year and was not worried about Ansari. “I don’t need to give Aziz any advice,” Samberg said. “He’s great. I think he’s gonna kill it. He’s a friend of mine and one of the funniest dudes I know. I’m really excited just to see it.” Another of the funniest dudes in Hollywood, Judd Apatow, couldn’t let Aziz assume hosting duties without giving him a good-natured ribbing. “He’s a cocky young man,” Apatow said of Ansari. “He’s not afraid. He should be afraid!” Don’t miss the live red-carpet coverage, exclusive movie clips and fist-pumping action on MTV News’ “Jersey Shore Blow-Out at the MTV Movie Awards,” airing live from Los Angeles this Sunday, June 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Then stay tuned for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Related Photos 2010 Movie Awards: Promo Shoot With Aziz Ansari Related Artists Aziz Ansari

Drake To Visit Lil Wayne In Prison

‘FINALLY got some time for a visit to go see my brother,’ rapper tweeted. By Jayson Rodriguez Drake and Lil Wayne Photo: the305.com Drake announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he would be visiting his mentor in prison on Wednesday (June 2). “FINALLY got some time for a visit tmrw to go see my brother,” Drake wrote . “So if you got msgs that need to be delivered write #TellWayne.” The Toronto MC has been on the road and putting the final touches on his debut, Thank Me Later, since Weezy turned himself in to prison back in March. In an interview Drake gave to MTV Jams in honor of Lil Tunechi Weekend, the So Far Gone superstar admitted he missed his Young Money cohort, from their friendly rivalry to the veteran rapper’s guidance. “One of the most important things in my life was being able to always see that Weezy e-mail come in,” Drake explained while donning a white T-shirt emblazoned with the rapper’s face and the words “Free Wayne.” “Or be able to respond to that e-mail or be able to ask him a question. Be able to utilize his knowledge. Our communication, I would say I miss that.” Since the rapper has been away, Drake has done his best to keep Lil Wayne’s name alive , from shouting him out at shows to bringing him up in interviews. Wayne has done a good job himself of staying active in the public’s mind, releasing a spate of videos and hosting a mixtape from behind bars. According to the New York City Department of Correction website, Wayne is allowed visits on Wednesdays between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. The two will be allocated an hour of time for the visit and Drake will be subjected to multiple searches before he’ll come face to face with Wayne. Fans have followed Drake’s instructions and are hoping he relays a number of messages, including notes of support and wishes for Wayne’s next album to arrive soon . Drizzy also will be relaying a message from his own mother to Wayne. “I talked to mother, she loves you to death,” Drake told MTV. “That’s from Mama Graham.” What do you think about Drake going to visit Lil Wayne? By Shaheem Reid Raekwon Photo: Universal This summer, the Wu-Tang Clan return to headline the heralded Rock the Bells Tour . But unlike the Killer Bees’ previous stage ventures for the annual outing, the Clan’s set will have a twist. The group will perform their classic debut, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) — in its entirety. “We never did that before,” Raekwon the Chef told Mixtape Daily last week. “We never sung the whole album, the 36 Chambers. “That’s gonna be interesting to see these cats do some of the records that really bust hip-hop’s cherry open,” Rae said. “I can’t wait to see this because I never seen it like that before. The concept is great. It gives fans the opportunity to go back and rewrite their history, go back and check it out, see what made dudes who they are. … This [tour] is gonna allow races to come together and have fun for one night. This is gonna be the event of events. This is gonna be the Royal Rumble of hip-hop. I’m sure that everybody is gonna come out and represent this. It’s gonna be right. Tom Cruise And Will.I.Am Explain How ‘Knight And Day’ Song Came To Be

‘When you can collaborate with a film you love, that’s a rare moment,’ Will tells MTV News of ‘Someday.’ By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Photo: MTV News What happened when mega movie star Tom Cruise met mega music star Will.I.Am? The song “Someday,” which the Black Eyed Peas hitmaker composed for Cruise’s upcoming summer thriller, “Knight and Day.” MTV News recently caught up with Cruise and Will to talk about how their collaboration came to be. “First of all, I’m a fan of the Peas,” Cruise told MTV News. “We met at a charity event and got to talking: ‘We’ve got to find something to do together.’ … We were three-fourths of the way done [filming] ‘Knight and Day,’ and the Peas were playing in Miami, so we all went — Kate [wife Katie Holmes], Cameron [Diaz] and all of us went to go see them over Super Bowl weekend. As we were watching, it occurred to me that this is the perfect time, so I called up Will, and he doesn’t have any time, but I asked, ‘Are you interested [in doing a song for the film]?’ ” “I made time,” said Will, who was then shown portions of the film to get ideas for the track. “It was easy, because the film was so good and it inspired me to write the song. When you can contribute and participate and collaborate with a film you love, that’s a rare moment. That’s a godsend.” Cruise was impressed with Will’s ability to immediately tap into the theme of the film — and the fact that he composed on his phone. “He wrote the song on his BlackBerry,” Cruise marveled. “Right in the room.” “I don’t like to let that inspiration fly away, so I jot it down in my notes,” Will explained. “For ‘Someday,’ the lyric was ‘Someday/ I don’t want it to be one day, I want it right now.’ So when I left the editing [room], I wanted to remember the emotion I was supposed to put into the song.” “It was very cool,” Cruise said of Will’s process. “[And] totally organic to the film. I think it’s an incredible song.” In the film, which has been described as a “sexy action/comedy,” Cruise is Agent Miller, a covert operative sent on a mission from which he was not intended to return. Diaz is June Havens, a woman caught between Cruise’s agent and those he claims set him up. Through a series of double-crosses, narrow escapes and mistaken identities, they soon realize they can only count on each other. “Knight and Day” is directed by James Mangold (“Walk the Line,” “3:10 to Yuma”) and also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Viola Davis, Paul Dano, Maggie Grace and Marc Blucas. The film opens June 25. The Black Eyed Peas debuted “Someday” on Thursday at an afterparty that followed their concert at London’s O2 arena. At their Friday show in London, Cruise joined the group onstage and helped them perform their chart-topping song “I Gotta Feeling.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Knight and Day.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Lady Gaga Wants Next Album To Be Her ‘Iconic Moment’

Singer says she is ‘much more self-aware’ on the new project. By James Dinh Lady Gaga Photo: Jun Sato/ WireImage Lady Gaga is looking to make history with her next album. The singer, who recently revealed that her upcoming LP will be “more spiritual,” took some time to participate in a live video interview with SHOWstudio.com , during which she spoke about the importance of making her mark in the music industry and the completion of the project. “This new album is my chance to create what in 20 years will be seen as my iconic moment,” she said during the broadcast. “That’s what you should always aim at.” Fans shouldn’t expect another heavy-hitting partnership like her collaboration with Beyonc

Katy Perry’s ‘California Gurls’ Rules iTunes Singles Chart

The latest ‘Glee’ soundtrack has a lock on the site’s albums chart. By Gil Kaufman Katy Perry Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ WireImage Though she lost out to Lady Gaga in MTV News’ summer jam 2010 poll , Katy Perry is still off to a pretty good start of the season. With the help of Snoop Dogg , the singer has notched a #1 on the iTunes singles chart for the week ending Monday (May 31) with her song of the summer contender, “California Gurls.” The top of the list, frankly, looks like a who’s who of our summer jam nominees, with B.o.B ‘s “Airplanes” coming in at #2, followed by Usher ‘s “OMG,” Ke$ha ‘s “Your Love Is My Drug,” Eminem ‘s “Not Afraid” and the actual hottest summer jam, Lady Gaga ‘s “Alejandro,” as voted on by MTV.com readers. The rest of the iTunes single chart is rounded out by La Roux ‘s “Bulletproof,” the “Glee” cast cover of Gaga’s “Poker Face,” Travie McCoy ‘s “Billionaire” and Taio Cruz ‘s “Break Your Heart.” Though iTunes does not release sales figures, the picture at the top of the site’s albums chart should be familiar to anyone who saw last week’s Billboard 200 chart, since it’s topped by the third volume of jazz-hands-worthy covers from the “Glee” crew, Glee: The Music, Vol. 3 Showstoppers. Just behind are reunited glam rock survivors Stone Temple Pilots, whose self-titled comeback album will likely top next week’s Billboard tally. Gaga hangs tough at #3 with The Fame ; followed by the Black Keys ‘ Brothers ; the “Sex and the City 2” soundtrack; B.o.B.’s debut, B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray and yet another “Glee” compilation, Glee: The Music, Journey to Regionals. The list is rounded out by Distant Relatives, the full album collaboration between rapper Nas and reggae scion Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley , LCD Soundsystem ‘s This Is Happening and Lady Antebellum ‘s Need You Now. Miley Cyrus Admits ‘Full Circle’ Is About Nick Jonas

‘Surprise, surprise, it’s about a Jonas brother,’ Cyrus reveals of the ’08 track during concert in Portugal. By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus Photo: Fotonoticias/ WireImage Miley Cyrus may be happily dating her “The Last Song” co-star Liam Hemsworth, but she had another boy on her mind when it came to recording “Full Circle,” from her Breakout album. While performing at the Rock in Rio concert in Lisbon, Portugal, on Saturday, Cyrus surprised fans when she revealed the inspiration for the track was none other than JoBro Nick, her onetime flame. “It’s about two people. They’re always gonna come back together no matter what anyone says, the bad people that try to keep you apart. It’s a personal story,” Cyrus can be heard telling the crowd in a video posted on JustJared.com . “Surprise, surprise, it’s about a Jonas brother,” she smiled. After singing a few lines, the singer added, “You didn’t hear that.” The song isn’t new, but the revelation was. Miley and Nick dated for nearly two years before breaking up in 2007. On the chorus, Cyrus sings, “I try to run/ But I keep on coming back/ Full circle/ And I can’t jump the track/ Can’t let you go.” The “Can’t Be Tamed” singer has never been too shy about discussing her relationships, but the star initially tried to keep the one with Nick under wraps. In a 2008 interview with Seventeen magazine in 2008, Cyrus opened up, confirming their relationship — and their breakup. In her book “Miles to Go,” published last year, she called Jonas her “Prince Charming.” But the Lisbon concert wouldn’t be the first time the exes have used music to address their on-again, off-again relationship. In 2008, Cyrus released the breakup track “7 Things.” The video’s director, Brett Ratner, confirmed fans’ suspicions about the song’s intended target, when he noted that a piece of jewelry Miley wore in the clip was a gift from Nick. “The necklace she’s wearing in the video is the necklace he gave her,” Ratner told MTV News at the time. “She’s wearing his diabetes or medical necklace.” The couple reconciled for a short time in 2009, recording the ballad “Before the Storm,” off the JoBros’ fourth album . But they parted ways again after Cyrus met Hemsworth on set. Jonas is currently unattached; he last dated from Disney star Selena Gomez . Were you surprised to hear that Nick was the inspiration for Miley’s “Full Circle”? Tell us in the comments!
