Lindsay Lohan Arrest Warrant Issued For Missed Hearing

Los Angeles judge doesn’t accept stolen-passport excuse and revokes Lohan’s probation. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lindsay Lohan Photo: Stephen Shugerman/ Getty Images A California judge has issued an arrest warrant for Lindsay Lohan after the troubled star failed to attend a mandatory hearing in Los Angeles. According to the actress’ lawyer, Lohan was unable to appear in court because she has been stuck in France since her passport was stolen. The judge set bail at $100,000. The actress is currently attending the Cannes Film Festival, but according to The Associated Press, , Lohan’s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley said the star is due back in the U.S. on Friday evening. Los Angeles’ ABC 7 reported that Lohan is scheduled to go to the U.S. Embassy in France on Thursday (May 20) to get a new passport. Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel, however, showed no sympathy for the actress. “If she wanted to be here, it looks to the court that she could have been here,” Revel said, according to the AP. In addition to revoking Lohan’s probation, the judge barred the entertainer from consuming alcohol and required her to submit to weekly random drug testing. Lohan will also be required to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet. Lohan pleaded guilty in 2007 to two misdemeanor drug charges and no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent and one count of reckless driving. The star’s probation was extended for an additional year in October after Lohan experienced difficulty adhering to the terms of her probation. According to ABC 7, Michael Lohan’s attorney Lisa Bloom spoke to reporters at the courthouse about her client’s daughter’s current situation. “There could be a private agreement between the parties,” said Bloom. “Somebody does have to want to go to rehab, and we hope that Lindsay will get to that point.” Despite Lohan’s notoriously public professional and personal struggles, Revel said earlier this year that the star was making “good progress.” On Monday, the actress denied reports that she has failed to complete the mandatory number of alcohol-education classes, saying in a Hollywood.tv online video that she has “been in compliance more than ever.” Related Photos Hollywood Descends On The 2010 Cannes Film Festival Related Artists Lindsay Lohan

Justin Bieber ‘Didn’t Cry’ When He Got His Tattoo, Studio Owner Says

‘It was really cool to have him here,’ Brian Byrne tells MTV News. By Mawuse Ziegbe Brian Byrne, owner of Son of a Gun Tattoo and Barbershop Photo: MTV Canada Not even tough tattoo artists are immune to Justin Bieber’s charms. Brian Byrne, the co-owner of the Son of a Gun Tattoo and Barbershop where the pop phenom got inked back in March, said the Biebs is just as dreamy in person as any screaming fan would expect. “He’s kind of hard to miss. He’s pretty cute,” Byrne told MTV News. “He’s, like, super cute, actually. That hair, that smile, those clothes, those major-high high-tops,” Byrne joked. Byrne also revealed at that the star’s Jonathan Livingston Seagull tattoo has special meaning for Bieber. “From what I can gather, I guess a bunch of people in his family actually have that same tattoo, his dad included,” Byrne said. Bieber’s dad accompanied the heartthrob as he got his body art. Byrne said the ink session went smoothly and that Bieber handled it like a champ. “He was a super nice kid. He was nice in our shop, he didn’t cry or nothing like that. It went really well. It was really cool to have him here.” But for fans freaking out that Bieber might be too young to get tatted up, Byrne said it’s up to the shop owners to decide who does and doesn’t get ink. Son of a Gun only tattoos kids younger than 18 who have parental consent. Plus, the shop has some pretty strict rules so youngsters don’t get stuck with eternally lame tattoos. “Anybody who’s under 25 we won’t do hands and neck,” Byrne said. “[If] a 16-year-old kid comes in and wants, like, a pot leaf or something … forget it. I don’t care if you have your parents’ consent, you’re gonna regret it.” Byrne said Bieber’s tattoo was different because it was a family tradition and that the overall experience was positive. “It was all really done in a good, clean way,” Byrne said. Drake Brings Out Special Guests At Dallas Away From Home Tour Stop

Baby and Lil Twist join their Young Money/ Cash Money comrade; Drizzy drops a Dallas freestyle. By Sarah Bryant Drake performs in Dallas on Wednesday Photo: Sarah Bryant DALLAS — Drake ‘s Away From Home Tour landed at the Palladium on Wednesday night, and the Young Money MC sounded just like the records you bang in your car — no Auto-Tune necessary. The Toronto native kicked off the show with songs from his breakout mixtape, So Far Gone, and then gave fans a taste of what’s to come on his June 15 debut, Thank Me Later, with “Fireworks,” which will feature Alicia Keys on the album. Drake temporarily diverted the love and attention from himself to his big brother, Lil Wayne. “It’s Young Money all day. Free Weezy,” Drake said between songs. “When I say Young Money, you say Free Weezy.” Birdman then made a special appearance during “4 My Town (Play Ball),” and the crowd got even crazier when the DJ dropped the beat for “Money to Blow.” “We certified getting it CM, YM, Cash Money business,” Baby rapped. Lil Twist also joined Drake onstage during “Bedrock.” The biggest spectacle was made by a fan, not a guest MC. Christina McAlister from Fort Worth, Texas, was picked from the audience to participate in the show. She landed not just a dance with Drake, but a kiss on the lips. The ladies “ooohed” with excitement as Christina tried to keep her cool. Shortly after, Drake pulled out his mic stand covered with bras, and his collection began to rack up, as women threw their bras to the stage. “I’ll make sure to add these to my treasure chest,” he chuckled. Though his newest single, “Find Your Love,” was conspicuously absent, he had to perform his breakthrough track, “Best I Ever Had.” Drake’s fans knew this show couldn’t be missed, because getting tickets wasn’t easy. In Dallas, tickets sold out within the first 24 hours. Devin Smith, a 23-year old senior from the University of North Texas, had to wait until tickets were re-released in mid-April to score his. “Just seeing Drake was on a different level!” Smith exclaimed. He and his friend arrived at the Palladium at 11:30 a.m. for the 8 p.m. performance so they could get the best seats in the house. They camped out in front, studied for summer classes and chatted with their newfound, like-minded friends. “It was worth the wait sitting there. … He put on a great concert,” Smith said. “He had great energy, and it was everything I thought it would be. It sounds cheesy, but it’s true.” Drake must have really loved his time in the D. On Thursday morning (May 20), he released “9 AM in Dallas Freestyle.” “Weezy, I’m just out here reppin’ us,” he raps. “Till I get to shake the hand of the man that’s blessing us/ I know these n—as miss the mean lyrics/ Kush got the room smelling like Teen Spirit/ … Money gets all of my love and affection/ Cars all black like the cover of Essence / I’m allergic to coming in second/ But I never sneeze/ YMO-ney, n—a.” Have you checked out Drake’s Away From Home Tour? Nas Says His Queensbridge ‘Hood Supports L.A. Laker Ron Artest

‘We are rooting for Ron all day long,’ rapper says of fellow Queens native. By Shaheem Reid Nas Photo: MTV News He’s so ‘hood, and his fans love for it: During halftime of the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Phoenix Suns Western Conference Finals game on Wednesday night, Laker Ron Artest told TNT, “We gotta play hard, like I played in the Queensbridge projects.” Fellow QB projects native Nas said he fully supports the man nicknamed Ron Ron, as does everyone from his neighborhood. “When I tell you man, the amount of love for Ron Artest, how insane it is from my ‘hood, from Queensbridge, it is a beautiful thing,” Nas told MTV News. “We all root for Ron. We’re all supporting Ron. I wasn’t with the Lakers before [they signed Ron]. I’m with the Lakers now for that. I love him. He plays a great part in the team. We are rooting for Ron all day long.” Artest had a breakout game on Wednesday, the second game of the series. The 30-year-old, who has a reputation for being a defensive specialist, had five rebounds and 18 points. “He just had to settle in and play like he’s used to playing,” Lakers star Kobe Bryant told ESPN . Artest, still in full uniform and standing in the middle of the locker room, said, “It’s about that time now. It’s about that time to just play, play basketball. “For some reason, you do things and they work and you go again to it,” Artest told the network. “Sometimes you sleep on the left side of the bed and wake up on the right, and when you go to sleep on the right and wake up on the left, your whole day is messed up. I just wanted to go back and sleep on the left side of the bed and wake up on the right.” The Lakers won 124-112 over the Suns and lead the series two games to none. Related Artists Nas

Justin Bieber Performs ‘U Smile’/ ‘Baby’ Medley On ‘American Idol’

He even showed off his drumming skills during the performance. By Kelley L. Carter Justin Bieber Performs On ‘Idol’ May 19 Photo: FOX His perfectly coifed bangs were styled in the signature side sweep, and as soon as the stage lights shined down on him, the girls went wild. Everyone in the audience at Wednesday night’s (May 19) “American Idol” definitely came down with Bieber fever. Host Ryan Seacrest called him an overnight superstar, a title that the crowd — judging by their shrill screams — seemed to find fitting. Bieber performed right before it was revealed which two singers would duke it out during next week’s finale. He opened with his single “U Smile,” the track he told MTV News felt had just the right vibe to include on his sophomore album, a follow-up to 2009’s My World. Clearly, he was right; it was difficult to find an audience member who wasn’t mouthing all the lyrics. He then launched into the song that helped put him on the map, “Baby,” and at times showed off his moves alongside his backup dancers. At one point during the song, he jumped behind a drum set (he also plays the piano, guitar and trumpet) and banged out the rhythm, which naturally delighted his onslaught of cheering fans. The quick set ended with the 16-year-old flashing a full smile at the camera and a soundtrack of his adoring fans screaming. Judging by the chants and closing applause, Seacrest may have been on to something when MTV News caught up with him this past weekend. At KIIS-FM’s annual Wango Tango festival, the host jokingly revealed his pick to replace judge Simon Cowell, who is departing to head up the American version of talent show “The X Factor.” “Who would I want in that chair?” Seacrest wondered aloud. “I would want a much younger, thinner, more charming Simon. … Bieber — he’s the guy!” What did you think of Justin Bieber’s “Idol” performance? Robert Pattinson And Adam Lambert Talk Fame On ‘Ellen’

‘I don’t think my friends have seen ‘Twilight’ yet,’ RPattz says of keeping his pre-fame friends around. By ‘I don’t think my friends have seen ‘Twilight’ yet,’ RPattz says of keeping his pre-fame friends around. MTV News staff Robert Pattinson on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Wednesday Photo: Warner Bros. Ellen DeGeneres had a double bill of People ‘s Most Beautiful stars on her show Wednesday (May 19), as she welcomed Robert Pattinson and Adam Lambert to her studio. RPattz talked “Eclipse” and was groped by an enthusiastic fan during a segment called “Pattin’ Pattinson,” while Lambert chatted about “Idol” and busted out his single “If I Had You.” First up came everyone’s favorite vampire for a ridiculously sustained round of applause from the studio audience. He was all smiles, quite the contrast to his overhyped reputation as a brooding Hollywood star. But, as Pattinson explained, his public visage has nothing to do with a gloom-and-doom attitude. “I just like doing things where you have a little time to think about what you’re saying,” he said. “I’ve always had a problem actually thinking before I open my mouth.” Give Pattinson credit for staying true to himself rather than getting swept away by his ever-growing fame. His friends help him stay grounded. “My friends are exactly the same,” he said. “I don’t think my friends have seen ‘Twilight’ yet.” One fan who definitely has seen “Twilight” — multiple times, no doubt — is the lucky “Ellen” audience member who took part in the “Pattin’ Pattinson” game, in which she was blindfolded and had to feel up three different men (one of whom was RPattz) and try to guess which one was the vampire star. “I get to touch him!” she squealed. And touch him she did. A lot. Alas, she didn’t make the right pick. Pattinson, for his part, just seemed thankful that the whole thing was over quickly. Next out came Lambert, just hours before the new season of “American Idol” is set to finalize its top-two finalists . The singer was in that exact same position last year, and as he told Ellen, any pressure he felt then was nothing compared to what he’s experienced since leaving the show. “To be honest, going into my career, this is a lot more work than that was,” he said. “Being a recording artist, touring, promos, visiting radio stations. I’m having a blast, but it’s a full-time job. On ‘Idol,’ I was singing one day a week.” Later in the show, Lambert came back out for an energetic performance of his newest single, “If I Had You,” a tune he said is about “connection and love.” “It’s talking about how fame and fortune and all the material things that come with this lifestyle don’t mean anything if you don’t have that love and that connection,” he said. “And I think it’s such an awesome message to put out into the world.” Who is your favorite of the hotties on “Ellen”: RPattz or Glambert? Casey James Will Have A ‘Big Career’ After ‘American Idol,’ Pal Says

But Danny Ross hasn’t written off James’ finale chances yet: ‘You can’t underestimate the women of America.’ By Gil Kaufman Casey James Photo: FOX It’s a bit late in the season for the usual conspiracy theories to arise, but there’s something about the way the “American Idol” finale is shaping up that has given Casey James’ supporters pause. “I don’t know, I think there’s something prejudicial going on, where it just seems like they’re stacking the deck against him,” said Danny Ross, owner of the Fort Worth blues club Keys Lounge, where the top-three “Idol” finisher has jammed on and off for the past two years. On Wednesday afternoon (May 19), Ross said he thought James did well on Tuesday night’s show , but he just couldn’t shake the feeling that the show’s producers were trying to steer America toward a Lee DeWyze/ Crystal Bowersox showdown . “The John Mayer song [‘Daughters’] was not as dynamic as [Bowersox’s] ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’ or [DeWyze’s] ‘Hallelujah,’ but, gosh, I’ve played with Casey, and I know talent when I see it, and Casey is one of the only guys I sit in with at the club,” he said. “I didn’t see any signs for Casey in the audience and not many for Crystal but a lot for Lee. Casey came in here last week and did a set like nothing had changed, and I had people say that if he played like that on TV, it wouldn’t be any competition.” Ross has been in the business a long time and considers himself a good judge of talent, and he said he thinks DeWyze is a good singer and Bowersox has “a hell of a voice,” but neither can front a band the way James can or rip off the kinds of bluesy guitar solos he’s seen Casey play in his club. So while he sees an uphill climb for his prot

Mario’s Next Album To Include Electro Sounds

‘It’s incredible how house music influences R&B nowadays,’ the R&B singer says of his upcoming album. By Jayson Rodriguez Mario Photo: MTV News First, Ne-Yo found inspiration in the electro blasting throughout clubs overseas, dabbling with the sounds on his last album, Year of the Gentleman. Then Will.I.am, Kelis, and a slew of other R&B acts followed. Consider Mario the latest act hooked by house music. “The new album right now, I’m just focused on the album,” the singer told MTV News backstage at Chris Brown’s “Virginia Stand Up! A Call to Action” benefit concert on Saturday. The Baltimore native explained that the genre’s grooves were just too appealing not to flirt with on his upcoming project. “Stay tuned. I just came back from Europe — it’s crazy out there,” Mario said. “I just did a DJ/ house [music] tour in Europe; I did like 10 days. It was a huge thing, like 15,000-seat venue. It was incredible to see how many people are into house music and R&B music, and how house music influences R&B nowadays. You know, [it has a] real strong presence … over there.” The collection, due this summer, according to Mario, would be his fifth album and the follow-up to last year’s set, D.N.A. That project spawned the hit “Break Up,” featuring Gucci Mane and Sean Garrett. Mario’s yet-untitled album is tentatively slated to include a guest appearance by Chris Brown, though nothing has been confirmed so far. Mario said the two crooners recently spent time together in a Los Angeles studio — though admittedly Brown was working with Keri Hilson and not him — and the pair have high hopes to get something recorded between them soon. “For the ladies,” he said with a smile. Ludacris Says He’ll Keep Making ‘History’ With Ciara

‘We always pick the right songs to do together,’ the Atlanta MC says of ‘Ride’ and other collabos. By Jayson Rodriguez, with additional reporting by Matt Elias Ludacris Photo: MTV News The formula is simple enough: Ludacris plus Ciara on the same track equals a hit. “Man, we always pick the right songs to do together,” Luda told MTV News over the weekend in Los Angeles, where he performed at KIIS-FM’s annual Wango Tango festival. “She always gives me the right songs; I always give her the right songs. We were actually just talking about that today. So I’m just glad that we have that many collaborations under our belts … we’ll continue to make history.” The two Atlanta residents recently reconnected on Ciara’s latest single, the steamy “Ride,” which is the first offering from her forthcoming album, tentatively titled Basic Instinct. The project is being helmed by The-Dream and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, who oversaw her last effort, 2009’s Fantasy Ride. Last year, Ciara explained to MTV News how she sought out Stewart, whom she’d known for a long time prior to their collaborating. “I learned a lot from him, but one thing I never did was work with him,” she said. “So now, on this record, before I started the process, I said, ‘I always wanted to work with him but never got around to him.’ And it was gonna happen this time. Right away, I set up a meeting. I sat down with Tricky and his manager, and we all talked about working, and I was so excited about it. It’s been something I had been really, really wanting to do.” At press time, Ciara’s Basic Instinct had yet to be assigned a release date. But in another interview with us, the singer promised her next effort would be “hot,” which “Ride” and its Diane Martel-directed video certainly are. “Well, I have to tell you the new record is going to be pretty hot,” she laughed. “No, it’s gonna be fun. I’m going to have a good time. I don’t want to say too much about it, but I’m very proud of what’s happening right now. I’m working hard. I want to make sure I give my fans what they want, and I want to give them more. So I’m just taking my time and just trying to create something that just really feels good to the masses.” What’s your favorite Ciara and Ludacris collabo? Tell us in the comments!
