WARNING: EXPLICIT CONTENT “Im high as fuck and don’t even know to start this so ima just say thank you to everyone who’s supported the TAYLOR GANG movement and showed love up to this point. We’ve all grown so much since i first came onto the scene and most of all inspired a whole new generation of muh fuggas who aren’t afraid to be themselves and unite. Before there were Taylors, the game was lacking fun, unity, positivity, and love for one another. Shit, your favorite rappers weren’t even getting paid well. You guys changed that, and the game shld forever be in debt to you. I remember getting 500 dollars for a show to fly out and see kids who had no idea what a wiz khalifa was, and you crazy muh fuggas showed up. Had a great time, and spread the word. Its ya’lls spirit who revived the rap game and brought back the true art to this shit. Your demand for live shows made it possible for a lot of rappers to come from nothing and feed their families. Promoters too, more kids are managers, dj’s videographers. Shit everyones eating. Thanx to you Taylors!!!! Take credit for that shit. Lol Moving forward we gotta take that positivity with us. Theres tons of different crews now which is so inspiring because people are finding their own voice and unique lane. As Taylor Gang WE FUCK WIT EVERYBODY. The white bricklayer from Virginia defied stereotypes and centuries of racist laws when he married Mildred Jeter, who was black and Native American. Convicted of violating a law against interracial marriage, the Lovings fought for their rights and won a landmark 1967 Supreme Court case that struck down such bans nationwide. Read: Black Love Their lives are explored in a new documentary, “The Loving Story,” which premieres Tuesday on HBO. Today, there are more than 4 million “mixed marriages” in the United States, and roughly one in seven new marriages are between people of different ethnicities. But in 1958, when the Lovings’ marriage was ruled illegal and they were banished from their native Virginia, 21 states outlawed interracial unions. “The Loving Story” details the couple’s nine-year battle to live in Virginia as man and wife. Using evocative photographs, newly unearthed footage and interviews with the Lovings’ daughter and lawyers, the film reveals the power of love to overcome bigotry.

Rookie MC steps out of Kanye’s shadow with smash Finally Famous album, landing him on MTV News’ Hottest MCs in the Game. By MTV News staff Big Sean Photo: Getty Images The biggest part of Big Sean ‘s rise over the past year has been the unwavering support of his fans. While he’s signed to a major label (Def Jam) and one of the brightest stars on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint, it was those fans mobbing him at the Adidas store in New York and superstar supporters like Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj hopping on his debut album, Finally Famous, that propelled Sean to #9 on MTV News’ Hottest MCs in the Game VII — his first appearance on the list. Big Sean hit the scene out of Detroit’s west side as Kanye’s newest prot

Whitney Houston’s Greatest Videos

‘How Will I Know,’ ‘The Greatest Love of All’ among Houston’s most iconic videos. By Gil Kaufman Whitney Houston in her “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” video Photo: Arista Records Long before Lady Gaga rolled around nearly naked in viscous goo, Rihanna showed off her S&M fetish, Christina squeezed into leather peek-a-boo chaps or Nicki Minaj dressed up like a male fantasy Barbie, Whitney Houston proved you could make a fuss without making a spectacle. The legendary R&B singer, who died Saturday at age 48 after reportedly consuming prescription drugs and alcohol on the eve of the 54th annual Grammy Awards , became one of the most important artists of the early music-video era by taking the road less traveled. While such fellow trailblazers as Michael Jackson and Madonna created video fantasy worlds full of monsters, gangsters, street-fighting men and naughty brides, Houston mostly skipped the drama and stood front and center in her most iconic clips doing the thing that she did best: singing her heart out. With her model-worthy looks and luminous smile, Houston knew exactly how to telegraph her charm through the TV — and later on the big screen in “The Bodyguard” and three other starring roles — which may explain why most of her most notable videos involve just a bit of perfunctory storyline and focus on her performance. Here are some of our favorite Houston video moments: “I Will Always Love You” : Is it even possible to come up with a concept for a clip that could match the grandeur and emotional heft of the breakout single from “The Bodyguard” soundtrack? It is, and smartly, that big idea was to focus on an elegantly suited up, forlorn-looking Houston sitting in an empty theater and staring into the distance as she watched clips from the movie scroll by. Houston blasted into the song’s towering finale via a quick zoom to her face, eyes closed, and then popping open as she hit the money note. How bad was Houston? She perfectly delivered the titanically tear-jerking drama of the song without ever once getting up from her chair. “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” : Whitney did ballads like nobody’s business, but she also knew how to throw down, as she did in the “Dance” video, the first single from her second album, Whitney . Dressed in a body-hugging purple dress, towering curly wig and colorful dangly earrings, Houston again focused on singing directly into the camera while a series of dancers showed off their moves in wide-shot cutaways. When it was Houston’s time to shine, though, the camera pulled in close to capture that sparkle in her eye and that 1,000-watt beam as she changed through a series of going-to-the-club outfits and mostly shimmied adorably in place. “How Will I Know” : The third single from Houston’s debut album was the one that changed everything. The clip helped introduce the singer to a wider audience when it became one of the first videos by a black female singer to earn heavy rotation on MTV. The concept was simple: Whitney in another of her trusty big hair bows and sexy minidresses sang right at the lens while dancers high-kicked and sashayed through a rainbow-paint-splashed maze of a set. All Houston had to do was walk, sing and smile and the rest was history. We’re still not sure, though, what was up with that dude in the half-suit, half-wedding dress. “Greatest Love of All” : The final single released from Houston’s debut album helped cement the M.O. for the classic Whitney video. Standing on yet another stage in an empty theater, Houston, wearing one of her beloved leather jackets, belts the big ballad with vigor as stage hands work around her, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the star of the show is crushing it right in front of them. While there appears to be some backstory involving Houston making her stage debut as a child, once Whit changes into that beaded white dress and matching chunky earrings to do her slinky saunter to center stage for the big finale … forget about it. “I’m Your Baby Tonight” : The title track from Houston’s third album, released in 1990, is what passed for a high-concept clip from the singer. Dressed in a white suit, with matching bowler and cane, Houston hip-swayed through a Cotton Club-type nightspot before transporting into a Manhattan penthouse. She walked through another mirror into a third scene where she was all three members of a Supremes-style girl group and finally ended up in a beatnik club, her haired pulled back as she rocked chopped bangs. As always, the focus was on images of Houston lip-synching the song’s lyrics with attitude as the camera lingered on her luminous skin and smile. Pill Drops First Post-Maybach Tape The Epidemic

‘I’m puttin’ that trap music in ya ear, I’m putting that reality rap in ya ear,’ Pill tells Mixtape Daily of his latest tape. By Rob Markman, with reporting by FLX Pill’s The Epidemic Photo: No Sleep Gang Main Pick Headliners : Pill and DJ Holiday Representing : Atlanta Mixtape : The Epidemic Real Spit : Deal or no deal, Pill is going to grind. The Atlanta MC may no longer be a part of Rick Ross ‘ Maybach Music squad, but that hasn’t stopped him from putting that work in. On February 9, P-I-Double-L released The Epidemic , his 16-track reality rap opus. “You know all eyes on me right now and it’s all on me right now,” Pill told Mixtape Daily . “This was a very strenuous task of mines. I put in a lot of hard work over the last couple of months, and it’s just gonna bridge that gap between real music and the fraud music.” Since his breakout hit “Trap Goin’ Ham,” Pill has built his rep on intelligent but street-centered raps. “I’m puttin’ that trap music in ya ear, I’m putting that reality rap in ya ear, I’m putting that music that you can jog to, run to, work to,” he said. “I’m putting that music out that you can actually uplift yourself to.” There are a variety of jams on The Epidemic — the tape’s opener “Movin’ Out” samples Billy Joel’s 1977 single “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song).” Sounds a bit unorthodox for a trapper-turned-rapper, but Pill expertly employs a double-time rap bounce, spitting, “I’m movin’ out, movin’ out/ My clothes and my shoes is out/ And I’m ready ta let you know what these lame-ass motherf—in’ fools about” at the track’s opening. On “Parkin’ Lot,” featuring Twista, Pill switches up his sound but not his intensity. The dark and menacing production is the perfect backdrop for Pillionaire’s murderous boasts. “Down for My N—az” is a hard-knocking ode to his crew and their street-centric lifestyle. With “Chill Out,” he takes a different turn over a bright and cheery track, rapping sweet nothings in the ear of a nondescript love interest. Then with “Memories,” Pill takes a trip down memory lane, recalling the hard lessons he learned during his childhood. If nothing else, Pill displays a wealth of range on The Epidemic, and in the end the tape stands as a testament to his work in the trap and in the studio. Joints to Check For

Whitney Houston’s Death Now Part Of Beverly Hilton’s History

The hotel has been a celebrity hot spot ever since it opened in 1955, hosting scores of red-carpet events every year. By Kara Warner The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles Photo: Splash News Despite the fact that the Beverly Hilton is currently in the news for being the site of Whitney Houston’s tragic death , the historic hotel has been making headlines for 57 years — the vast majority of those being positive news stories — ever since its opening in 1955. The Who’s Who in Hollywood hot spot has played host to the most A-list guests and star-studded events for nearly six decades by holding more than 175 red-carpet events annually. The Hotel’s first major event was coincidentally the first-ever Grammy Awards in 1959. Best Female Vocalist Ella Fitzgerald took home two awards that year, along with Domenico Modugno, Henry Mancini, and Ross Bagdasarian (made famous by “The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late)”). In July 1960, then-presidential hopeful John F. Kennedy held a gala fundraiser for which his friend Frank Sinatra helped gather the “Jack Pack,” a group of celebs that included Milton Berle, Janet Leigh, Tony Curtis, Judy Garland and Mort Sahl. The Hilton was host to the first-ever Golden Globe Awards in 1961, where Stanley Kubrick’s “Spartacus” took home the top prize of Best Picture. The Globes returned to the hotel in 1971 and have not left. The annual event draws an international audience of millions, in addition to the ceremony itself, multiple viewing parties and afterparties, all staged at the Hilton. Other notable events include Richard Nixon’s so-called final press conference in 1962 following his loss to Pat Brown in the California gubernatorial election. The hotel hosted the one-time-only tribute to screen legend Cary Grant in 1988, which raised funds for Grace Kelley’s Princess Grace Foundation. In 2004, former First Lady Nancy Reagan made major news by speaking out against the Republican Party and publicly announcing her support for stem-cell research while being honored by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Also for the past thirty years, the Hilton has hosted the prestigious Oscars nominee luncheon. Share your condolences with Whitney’s family and friends on our Facebook page. Taylor Swift’s ‘Safe & Sound’ Came Together ‘Organically’

‘He created this ethereal sound without making it this big battle anthem,’ Swift says of ‘Hunger Games’ soundtrack producer T-Bone Burnett. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Taylor Swift Photo: MTV News On Monday night (February 13), Taylor Swift released a cold, moody video for her Civil Wars-assisted “Hunger Games” soundtrack tune “Safe & Sound.” During her exclusive chat with MTV News following the premiere, she revealed how the eerie song came together in just one day. “I wrote this song with the Civil Wars and [soundtrack producer] T-Bone Burnett, and we all happened to be in the same city on the same day, and I was working with T-Bone a lot on the soundtrack, just putting songs together,” she recalled to Sway during “MTV First: Taylor Swift.” When Burnett suggested the Civil Wars stop by, Swift was enthusiastic about the potential collaboration. “I had this title that I had been working with called ‘Safe & Sound,’ and I just knew that I wanted it to deal with the empathy, sort of the more sensitive side, the bittersweet side of this story,” she said about the sullen track. “Never imagining that this would ever be picked or a single, ’cause it’s a lullaby. This song was such an amazing experience, because it’s like it just happened.” The experience was particularly thrilling for Swift since she’s a big fan of the Grammy-winning Civil Wars. “I’ve been a Civil Wars fan for about a year, and I think they’re amazing, and I’ve always wanted to work with them. They have another song on the soundtrack [‘Kingdom Come’]. I have another song on the soundtrack [‘Eyes Wide Open’], and it just ended up so organically coming together, I can’t believe it, really.” By the time Swift heard the finished product, she couldn’t believe the beauty of Burnett’s sparse production. “We wrote this song and recorded it one day. When we got the track back, I was so surprised by the restraint,” she said. “He created this ethereal sound without making it this big battle anthem.” What did you think of Taylor’s “Safe & Sound” video?
