Did Adele Get a Nose Job?

Adele nose job rumors have been running rampant online. We don’t know if she’s gotten one or not, and Ashley Judd would be pissed that we’re even asking, but photos that suggest she may have had work done. The 23-year-old singer may be quite comfortable in her own skin, but she may have also changed one of her features. We’re not judging, just saying. Check out these Adele photos from 2012 and 2008 … It could be that the British fan favorite simply lost weight, which clearly is the case over the past 3-4 years, and her nose looks more slender as a result. Or not. Some surgeons say the tip is more defined, which indicates reshaping the lower cartilage of the nose by reducing its width and repositioning it. She’s made a name for herself on talent either way, and isn’t about to lose any fans regardless of whether she had work done. But it makes you wonder. What do you think of Adele’s new look? Do you think she got plastic surgery? Does Adele look better or worse? Does it even matter?

Ashley Judd Pays Tribute to Dan Wheldon Via Poem, Message

Through her marriage to IndyCar racer Dario Franchitti, Ashley Judd knew Dan Wheldon well. Therefore, a day after the 33-year old Indy 500 champion lost his life in a horrific on-track accident, the actress has memorialized the star via a Twitter message and poem. “As we continue to absorb Dan’s accident — we forget, remember, re-experience shock, denial, anger, pain — I’m reminded of a favorite poem,” Judd writes, including the verse in question: DEATH be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not so, For, those, whom thou think’st, thou dost overthrow, Due not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill me. From rest & sleepe, which but thy pictures be, Much pleasure then from thee, much more must flow, And soonest our best men with thee doe goe, Rest of their bones, and soules deliverie. One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally, And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die. J Donne. Our thoughts go out to Wheldon’s loved ones. [Photo: WENN.com]

On the Ice Director Andrew Okpeaha MacLean Examines Tradition vs. Hip-Hop Culture in Alaska

Writer-director Andrew Okpeaha MacLean makes his feature debut with the L.A. Film Fest entry On the Ice , a character tale about two Alaskan teenagers wrestling with guilt after the accidental murder of a friend. With its isolated setting, cast of non-actors, and rollercoaster ride of a Sundance premiere, the indie drama isn’t the easiest sell for mainstream America, but it’s a film that deserves to find an audience — a window into a generation of Alaskan teens balancing native culture with hip-hop, at a unique crossroads between community traditions and the volatile influence of urban culture.

Watch the New Trailer for Flypaper: Heist’s Anatomy

Sundance entry Flypaper combines a bunch of people and things we like: Patrick Dempsey, bank heists, the writers of The Hangover , Jeffrey Tambor, one-liners, Rob Huebel, Ashley Judd, a director of The Lion King , and ‘splosions. Seems like a cohesive, yet unexpected marriage of talents. In the trailer from the film — which premieres on demand July 15 before hitting theaters Aug. 19 — we watch a robbery unfold and an unexpected camaraderie arise. I’m already calling Dempsey’s character McStealy.

Much has already been written elsewhere about Ashley Judd’s recent comments in her new book where she says that hip-hop culture is rape culture.  While we don’t deny that hip-hop has (more than) its share of misogyny, it’s not limited to hip-hop music. Judd, an actress who appeared in films like Kiss The Girls and Double Jeopardy , needs to look no further than her own Hollywood culture for a much longer-running  display of violence and misogynistic attitudes towards women. We stumbled across this supercut of scenes from movies featuring men slapping women dating back to 1931′s The Public Enemy . Keep an eye out for President Ronald Reagan in one of his pre-Commander-In-Chief roles laying the smackdown. Way to Teach Ashley Judd a Lesson! Now, How Are We Better For It?

It is painful to watch thousands of black women commit suicide everyday. I’m not talking about the quick, shoot yourself, or take some pills kind of suicide; I mean the slow, agonizing death that comes with allowing ourselves to be degraded, objectified, used and abused, then fighting so hard against our own best interest for the sake of members of our own race that mean us no good. I’m speaking in this case about the majority of hip hop (c)rap music that poisons us with every line that says some black girl is a whore, b*tch, trick, sperm receptacle or nappy head. Our souls are stomped upon with every lyric that says dark girls are ugly, light-skin is superior, and thugs are the best that we can get because we’re worthless pieces of trash. And this isn’t said by white people. It’s coming from black men–our supposed brothers in the struggle, and justified by the music media machine, the NAACP and worst of all, we black women support it every day, every minute, and every weekend when we drop it like it’s hot to Lil Wayne, et al. And if ANYONE DARE speak up against it–especially a white chick like Ashley Judd–that person gets pimp-slapped into apologizing for telling the damn truth. In just two lines of her book, All That Is Bitter & Sweet, she says “As far as I’m concerned, most rap and hip-hop music — with its rape culture and insanely abusive lyrics and depictions of girls and women as ‘ho’s’ — is the contemporary soundtrack of misogyny.” Exactly what part of that statement is NOT true? What part of rap/rape culture actually makes black women feel worth a dang? Continued at MadameNoire.com
