Cop Fired For Running Over Man According to Raw Story A Florida cop was fired on Friday amid an investigation into the death of 38-year-old Marlon Brown, who police say was run over by a squad car last month as he fled an officer. Dashboard video taken from DeLand, Fla. Officer J.P. Harris’s car shows him pursuing Brown and running him down, according to Deland Police Chief Bill Ridgway. Ridgway spoke to reporters over the weekend, saying he felt compelled to take immediate action after watching the dashcam footage. “This is a regrettable and tragic situation for everyone involved,” he said. “This decision was made in the best interests of the community, the city, and the department. It should be noted that the traffic accident involving Marlon Brown’s death is still under active investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Due to that ongoing investigation I am unable to comment further.” Brown was killed on May 8 amid a pursuit that began when Harris tried to pull him over for not wearing a seat belt. Police later said that Brown was driving with a suspended license. He did not have any contraband in his vehicle. “I can’t sleep and can’t eat and I have this vision in my head,” Laheia Olvera, who was in the car with Brown that day, told The Daytona Beach News-Journal. “From his neck to his waist, he was completely smashed. His head was swelled up.” Brown’s ex-wife Krystal explained to Jacksonville’s News 4 that she’s not satisfied with Harris being terminated. “We actually want charges,” she said. “Just a termination is not good enough, but it’s a start.” Damn, his head was all smashed up. Thank you Courtney.” Bynes was arrested in New York City on May 23 for drug possession, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence — all of which she vehemently denies. Shortly after her arrest, an NYPD rep told Us Weekly, “Officers and building personnel went up to her apartment and she invited them in. There was a smell of drugs and a bong in the apartment, at which point Bynes picked up and threw out the window.” Bynes, however, argued in court that the alleged bong was “just a vase.” On Tuesday, TMZ posted a photo of the broken object in question, suggesting it looks like a bong. The former Nickelodeon star responded to the article on Twitter: “TMZ is being sued as we speak. That’s fake! They and NYPD is trying to frame me for a crime I didn’t commit. There was no drug paraphernalia in or around my apartment on the day I was arrested . . . I’m drug free and love talking about it!” It’s not a good look when Courtney Love is your adviser. Man Hacks 40 Email Accounts To Spy On Ex-Girlfriend According to Raw Story An NYPD detective was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly spying on more than 40 email accounts, including 21 of his fellow officers. NBC 4 New York reported that Edwin Vargas, 42, was questioned last month for stalking his ex-girlfriend online. Vargas suspected his ex-girlfriend had been cheating on him. According to a FBI press release, Vargas allegedly paid an e-mail hacking service more than $4,000 to obtain the log-in credentials of at least 43 personal email accounts and one cellular phone belonging to at least 30 different individuals. Of those 30 individuals, 19 were current NYPD officers, one was a retired NYPD officer, and one was on the NYPD’s administrative staff. Vargas was also accused of accessing a federal crime database to obtain information about two NYPD officers without authorization. “When law enforcement officers break the laws they are sworn to uphold, they do a disservice to their fellow officers, to the department, and to the public they serve, and it will not be tolerated,” Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said. Vargas has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit computer hacking and one count of computer hacking. Each count carries a maximum one-year sentence. Lindsay Lohan Sued According to TMZ Lindsay Lohan has just been sued for $5 million she doesn’t have … all because of her highly-publicized drug problems, TMZ has learned. D.N.A.M. Apparel Industries — a clothing manufacturer — just filed the countersuit against Lindsay in response to Lindsay’s lawsuit against the company. In her lawsuit, Lindsay says she struck a business deal with D.N.A.M. in 2009 allowing them to manufacture clothes for her “6126″ clothing line — but D.N.A.M. stiffed her on a massive licensing fee. Lindsay wants $1.1 million in damages. But D.N.A.M. is now coming back at Lindsay for nearly five times that amount, insisting SHE’S the reason their business deal fell apart. According to D.N.A.M., the company did its darndest to sell their 6126 clothes to high-end third party retailers — but by spring 2010, no one would touch the brand … because Lindsay was back in rehab … and her legal problems were playing out in the media “like a Greek tragedy.” D.N.A.M. claims Lindsay’s “drug-addled image” destroyed 6126′s reputation, and rendered the clothing line completely unsellable. D.N.A.M. says it invested millions in 6126 for nothing — and now it’s suing for breach of contract and fraud, demanding at least $5 million in damages. And the irony … Lindsay’s currently back in rehab yet again. Lindsay’s attorney, Perry C. Wander, tells TMZ … “The license agreement does not have a morals clause that allows the company to suspend payment for any behavior.
