However, everyone doesn’t agree with the ruling . Apparently defendant Theodore Wafer’s attorney found the ruling so unfair that she has taken a year-long sabbatical from legal practice over her guilt of not being able to get him acquitted. Via Detroit News : The last time the country, if not the world, was watching attorney Cheryl Carpenter, she broke down weeping in court. In late August, Carpenter was arguing for leniency in the sentencing of her client, Theodore Wafer. Wafer, 55, was found guilty in the shooting death of Renisha McBride, 19, after she pounded on his front door in the middle of the night. Through tears, Carpenter pleaded Wafer “shows more remorse than any client I have ever seen.” Now, almost a year to the day of the Nov. 2 murder that thrust Carpenter into the spotlight, she cringes at the memory. “I’ve never cried like that in a courtroom,” she said, sitting cross-legged on her couch in her Birmingham home. “I was horrified by it. Society does not accept tears or emotion very well. Especially from attorneys.” Still, the 44-year-old will attest: The very passion that caused her to lose her composure is the same force that draws her to the most hopeless of cases. “The ones who are the most powerless, the ones who are the most hated and the ones who are the most prejudged are the ones I want to help the most,” she said. “It feels like my calling. I want to fight for the biggest underdog.” Wait…so she thinks Wafer was the underdog here? O….k. But here’s what she had to say about the racial climate during the trial that she feels was unbeatable — despite what she saw as evidence to the contrary: Still, the Wafer-McBride case came on the heels of the Trayvon Martin case in Florida which was intensely scrutinized and covered by worldwide media. “The pressure was different than any other case I’d ever had,” she said. “We had the ghost of Trayvon Martin in the courtroom.” In one breath, she insisted, “This case was not racial. I can say, with 100-percent confidence, that Ted did not know who was on his front porch when he saw a figure coming at him.” In the next, she said: “It didn’t help that after (George) Zimmerman was acquitted, he acted like an assaultive creep and they thought, probably, we can’t led Ted go free and maybe murder another woman.” Last week, attorneys from the state appellate defender’s office filed an appeal of Wafer’s second-degree murder conviction. Hmmm…what do you think Bossip fam? Was Wafer not given the same benefit of the doubt he would have been afforded pre-Trayvon??

Dante Martin was convicted of manslaughter and three counts of college hazing causing injury or death, a representative for the 9th Circuit State’s Attorney’s Office in Orlando told the Los Angeles Times. A sentencing date has not been set, and no other information was immediately available, the representative said. More than 15 students were charged in Champion’s death. Champion, of Decatur, Ga., died of blunt-force trauma after fellow band members punched him and hit him with drumsticks in a ritual known as “crossing Bus C.” Seven students accepted plea deals that resulted in probation or community service, according to the Associated Press; one student, Jesse Baskin, was sentenced to a year in prison. This week on Manzo’d With Children Season 1 Episode 4 , Albie and Lauren had a falling out, with Caroline giving them 24 hours to make peace. Lauren and Albie have always been close, but they’re at odds here, with her saying he always plays the victim, calling him “dramatic” and “pathetic.” “I don’t think Brittany’s the right girl for him,” she says of his new girl, which sort of triggered this rift the previous week in the Garden State family. Albie told Lauren, apparently, that she’s a toxic person he doesn’t want her in his life anymore, and that he’s going to date whomever is right for him. His mom tells him to go apologize to Lauren, regardless. Lauren thinks no one sees her side and how this is affecting her, and that the family is always taking Albie’s side. Mom wants to throw them both out. If you watch Manzo’d With Children online and saw the Brittany situation unfold, you know she might not be the best fit with this close-knit group. Still, Albie feels trapped by others’ expectations, and it appears Manzo’d With Children Season 1 Episode 4 is the culmination of a lifetime of this. His family has been hard on Brittany, he says, by judging her solely on her appearance, though he admits having the same concerns about Brittany. Christopher, meanwhile, helps Caroline with her sauce as she muses about how he makes her happier and she just needs his presence to keep her sane. Later, Caroline talks to Al about the incident between Caroline and Albie, and Al is a little bit more sympathetic toward his son’s plight than she. “My point to you is this: it ends here,” Caroline says, while Al adds they did a great raising the kids, and that they have what it takes to rise above this. Finally, they make up, as Lauren says she’s just being honest and wants to be able to say whatever she wants to her family members with no consequences. He says he doesn’t want anyone controlling his life, and that he doesn’t really want Lauren out of the picture, but just wants to be able to live comfortably. See? Was that so hard?
