Rachel Maddow Edits ‘Factor’ Video to Make Bill O’Reilly Look Racist

Rachel Maddow on Friday highly-edited a video from the previous evening’s “O’Reilly Factor” in order to make the Fox News host look racist. For some background, Bill O’Reilly wrote a syndicated column Friday in which he chastized Maddow and David Letterman for “without a shred of evidence” claiming on CBS’s “Late Show” Tuesday that FNC intentionally runs stories about “scary black people” in order to frighten white folks into voting for conservatives. Maddow responded by calling this “bullpucky,” and presented video “evidence” from “Factor” programs to prove that this indeed is what Fox does. Unfortunately, in the most damning clip, Maddow’s minions conveniently edited out that O’Reilly was referring to a recent Gallup poll about how blacks and whites have differing views of President Obama. Ironically, this came moments after Maddow scolded O’Reilly for airing the edited version of former USDA official Shirley Sherrod on his July 19 program (videos follow with transcripts and commentary): RACHEL MADDOW, HOST: This time, the case against me is in his nationally syndicated column which I`m sure is read by millions and millions and millions and millions and millions of people. The headline is, quote, “Only far-left loons scared of Fox News.” Guess who the loon is? Yes. Talking about me on David Letterman`s show this week, Mr. O`Reilly says, quote, “Speaking with far-left MSNBC news commentator, Rachel Maddow on his program, Dave listened as she put forth the preposterous theory that wants to frighten white Americans by reporting negatively about black Americans.” “In the past, paranoid, dishonest rants like that would have been dismissed as fringe-speak. But not anymore. Without a shred of evidence, a guest on Letterman`s “Late Show,” which by the way, gets trounced in the ratings by Fox News Channel every night, defines an entire news organization as a racist enterprise and Letterman goes along.” Mr. O`Reilly`s repeated insistence that must be right because Fox has high ratings is a many-splendored thing particularly because this week – if you believe Mr. O`Reilly, this week means we`re all wrong and only sharksploitation(ph) is right. But there is something else going on here that isn`t just an ad populum fallacy about ratings or an ad hominem collateral swipe at the lovely creature that is the loon. It is something stupid, something stupid enough that it doesn`t even get dressed up in Latin phrasing. It`s him saying that there`s no evidence to back up my claim that Fox News consistently runs stories it says are news, but that nobody else really covers, stories that are ginned-up, exaggerated, caricatured, in some cases, just flat-out made-up scare stories designed to make white people feel afraid of black people, designed to make it seem like black people, or in some cases, immigrants are threatening white people and taking what is rightfully theirs. You may not like that diagnosis of what Fox has been up to, but to say there`s no evidence, not a shred of evidence, as he said, that`s bullpucky. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) O`REILLY: Speaking at an NAACP event in March, Department of Agriculture official Shirley Sherrod was caught on tape saying something very disturbing. Seems a white farmer in Georgia had requested government assistance from Ms. Sherrod. Wow. Well, that is simply unacceptable and Ms. Sherrod must resign immediately. (END VIDEO CLIP) MADDOW: Of course, the Shirley Sherrod story ended up being exposed as total bullpucky, manufactured by nifty video editing. Mr. O`Reilly had to apologize for that statement. But it`s not like the Shirley Sherrod story stands alone. Readers are encouraged to remember her comment “exposed as total bullpucky, manufactured by nifty video editing.” Also, if this was an example of Fox trying to scare white people, why did O’Reilly apologize the next day? Not every member of the news media that broadcast the original Sherrod video clip issued an on air apology like O’Reilly, but I digress: (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) O`REILLY: The collapse of ACORN – that is the subject of this evening`s “Talking Points Memo.” Here`s the latest scandal. You`re not going to believe it. Because federal authorities have not done much policing of ACORN, two private citizens, James O`Keefe and Hannah Giles, launch an undercover sting investigation themselves. The two pose as a prostitute and a pimp and asked a number of ACORN officials to help them get housing for a prostitution enterprise. The latest sting was in California, where an ACORN employee engaged the young woman posing as a prostitute. ACORN is a tax-exempt organization that should immediately lose that status. And Attorney General Holder should begin an intense investigation. (END VIDEO CLIP) MADDOW: Of course, the ACORN story ended up being exposed as total bullpucky, too, also manufactured by nifty video editing. Remember after the California attorney general looked into the full tapes and then arrested all those ACORN folks for those crimes that Bill O`Reilly showed them committing on tape? Yes, you don`t remember that? Me, neither, because it never happened. Bullpucky again. But still, very scary. Readers are encouraged to once again remember Maddow’s phrase here “total bullpucky, too, also manufactured by nifty video editing.” Secondly, that the far-left Jerry Brown chose not to prosecute ACORN employees by no means invalidates the corruption that was exposed at this organization or vindicates it. A Democrat-controlled Congress and a Democrat President have still not lifted the government ban on ACORN funding. Beyond this, the notion that O’Reilly reporting this matter was racially motivated is in itself racist. But Maddow and her ilk seem to miss this irony when they point such fingers at others: (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) O`REILLY: A guy like Van Jones who is a friend of the president, and he comes in and he`s a hardcore Marxist. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He`s not a hardcore Marxist. O`REILLY: He is. He admits it. All I keep hearing is from people like Eugene Robinson who traffics in racism every time you turn around. Once again, the idea that reporting on Van Jones was to scare white people is pathetic. Are all reports concerning black people involved in wrong-doing racist? As such, this was another tremendously weak point by Maddow in no way proving O’Reilly was trying to scare white people. But here’s the best part: O’REILLY: White Americans don`t like the huge expansion of the federal government. They also oppose the big spending increases that the president has imposed. It`s simple. White Americans fear government control. They don`t want the feds telling them what to do and they don`t want a bankrupt nation. For decades, African-Americans have supported a bigger federal government so it can impose social justice. The vast majority of blacks want money spent to level the playing field, to redistribute income from the white establishment to their precincts. (END VIDEO CLIP) MADDOW: Black people want white people`s money. They want to redistribute income from the white establishment to their precincts. But remember, Mr. O`Reilly says there is not a shred of evidence that Fox News hypes stories about scary black people taking white people`s stuff. I am not interested in playing cable news insult ping pong with Mr. O`Reilly. But as much as he keeps insisting that I`m no one worth arguing with, that I`m an uber-leftist – he called me that in his column, and a loon twice now. And a slightly larger percentage of one percent of the population watches his show than the proportion of one percent of the population that watches my show, for all he complains about how unimportant I am, my criticism scares white people on purpose to politically benefit conservatives, damn the consequences for the country, that criticism appears to have struck a nerve over at Fox. It appears to have gotten under Mr. O`Reilly`s skin. Good. Well, not so fast, Rach, for why didn’t you provide the full context of that last report by O’Reilly? Here is the unedited “Talking Points Memo” from Thursday. Notice just how much different this really is from the highly-edited version Maddow dishonestly showed her viewers: O’REILLY: Hi, I’m Bill O’Reilly. Thanks for watching us tonight. Black and white Americans differ over President Obama. That is the subject of this evening’s “Talking Points Memo”. A new Gallup poll says 88 percent of African-Americans continue to support President Obama, but just 38 percent of white Americans feel the president is doing a good job. That is a 50 point differential in the president’s job approval rating, which is stunning. So what is going on? Let’s take the white situation first. According to the polls, most white Americans don’t like the huge expansion of the federal government. They also oppose the big spending increases that the president has imposed. It’s simple. White Americans fear government control. They don’t want the Feds telling them what to do. And they don’t want a bankrupt nation. That attitude was on display in Missouri this week when 71 percent of the voters approved a state statute blocking the federal government from forcing them to buy health insurance. 71 percent said no to that. Since Obamacare is the centerpiece of the president’s domestic strategy so far, you can see he’s in some trouble. But black America has a totally different view. For decades, African- Americans have supported a bigger federal government, so it can impose social justice. A vast majority of blacks want money spent to level the playing field, to redistribute income from the white establishment to their precincts, and to provide better education and health care at government expense. So the African-American voter generally loves what President Obama is doing. As for Hispanic-Americans, 54 percent now support Mr. Obama but that is down nine points since April. The social justice component is there as well. There’s no question that there are now two Americas. The minority community continues to believe that society is not completely fair to them. And they want a huge government apparatus to change that. And while the white community may sympathize with the minority situation, they apparently believe that more harm than good is being done to the country with the cost of social justice programs. My own belief is that President Obama is well intentioned, but if the wild spending continues, this country will be gravely damaged. As far as social justice is concerned, strict oversight on fair rules, but not the imposition of expensive entitlements is the answer. The USA is the strongest country on earth because of self reliance and the industry of honest, hard working people, who don’t want to be told how to live. Independence and self-reliance is what has made this country great, powerful and generous. And that’s the Memo. As such, O’Reilly was commenting about a Gallup survey just released Tuesday with the title, “Blacks and Whites Continue to Differ Sharply on Obama.” By the end of his “Memo,” he was even crediting Obama with being “well intentioned.” Sound “scary” to you? As for Gallup, here’s what it reported: President Obama’s job approval rating averaged 88% among blacks and 38% among whites in July, a 50-percentage-point difference that has been consistent in recent months but is much larger than in the initial months of the Obama presidency. Obama’s job approval ratings among blacks, whites, and Hispanics in July are all at their lowest levels to date, although the overwhelming majority of blacks still approve. Maybe Maddow should call the Gallup folks racist, too. Regardless, Maddow and her minions completely removed this context from the video they edited thereby dramatically altering what O’Reilly said.  Isn’t that just as bad as what the anonymous person that sent the excerpted Sherrod video to Andrew Breitbart did? Maybe more importantly, isn’t this actually worse than what Fox and every other news outlet did with the Sherrod video, for none of them were involved in the editing. In Maddow’s case, her own staff edited out major portions of O’Reilly’s opening remarks on Thursday completely changing the meaning of his words. This MSNBC host should certainly not be pointing fingers at others for bullpucky manufactured by nifty video editing when she and her staff are doing the very same thing.  With this in mind, maybe Maddow on Monday should play the entire video for her audience and apologize to O’Reilly. Readers are advised to not hold their breath.

Officials Suspicious of Oksana Grigorieva Claims Against Mel Gibson; Lawyer to Be Questioned

In an effort to separate truth from fiction, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department has contacted Oksana Grigorieva’s former lawyer to see if she said inconsistent or incriminating things during her custody mediation with Mel Gibson. Attorney Eric George will be asked about both Oksana’s brutality claims against Mel as well as the actor’s allegation that his ex is trying to extort him. George is allowed to and will discuss what occurred during the mediation. Private conversations with Oksana are protected by attorney-client privilege. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that investigators are particularly interested in what Oksana is reportedly claiming now, but failed to claim in May: She never mentioned, nor produced that alleged black eye photo She never expressed concern that Mel was a threat to baby Lucia She never said Mel threatened to kill her, her son, Lucia, or himself Mel is a deeply disturbed human – but do Oksana’s allegations against him add up, or does she have an ulterior motive? That’s what police are trying to sort out . Investigators also want to get to the bottom of texts Oksana allegedly sent Mel a few months ago – saying she taped his phone calls because he was “not taking care of her.” She claimed last week she did so because she feared for her life. Mel’s camp claims it has hard proof Oksana left evidence showing she was holding the Mel Gibson tapes over his head – the texts may be the key. George was the attorney who negotiated a $15 million custody and confidentiality settlement package for Oksana, which she later disavowed. The situation is so bizarre, it’s no wonder officials are having trouble sorting it out. Gibson’s rants paint a disturbing image, yet the deluge of additional “evidence” she claims – the abuse pics, that Mel hit his two sons – is highly questionable. Whose side are you on?

Lindsay Lohan Goes To Jail ‘Accepting Responsibility,’ Lawyer Says

Sheriff’s spokesperson said actress was very ‘cooperative’ as she entered detention facility. By Gil Kaufman Lindsay Lohan with her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley on Wednesday Photo: Mark Ralston/ Getty Images Lindsay Lohan was stoic as she prepared to get handcuffed and taken off to Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California, on Tuesday (July 20) morning. But behind that brave face was a 24-year-old who was frightened of what the next 90 days in jail would be like. “She’s scared as anyone would be,” Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, said after Lohan was escorted away, according to People.com . “But she’s resolute and she’s doing it. … She asks for your prayers and support.” Holley represented Lohan after resigning as her attorney earlier this month and being briefly replaced by by O.J. Simpson attorney Robert Shapiro, who stepped down from the case on Monday. She added that Lohan “is accepting responsibility and [has] stepped up to the plate and is doing what has been asked of her.” Lohan will likely only serve 23 days of her 90-day term due to jail overcrowding, but it will not be easy time, as she will spend nearly 23 hours a day in a 12-by-8-foot cell by herself. In a press conference following Lohan’s transfer, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Steve Whitmore said that the actress was “extremely cooperative” during her booking into jail to serve the sentence for violating the probation on a pair of DUI cases from 2007. Whitmore said the expected length of Lohan’s incarceration would be announced later in the day. “The crowd out here is a little unusual,” Whitmore said after Lohan was delivered to the Lynwood jail. “But inside, it’s business as usual.” According to the Los Angeles Times, after her booking, Lohan entered the jail’s triage, where she was slated to get the standard medical and psychological evaluation. Whitmore said all the usual state guidelines for prisoners would apply to Lohan, though he stressed that “people with notoriety are kept away” from the general jail population for security purposes. An employee at the detention center said the building went into lockdown when Lohan arrived around 10:11 a.m. PT. During that time, employees in the jail’s work-release program were asked to leave early, and inmates were held in their cells without restroom privileges or recreation time. Lindsay Lohan Lawyer Robert Shapiro Quit On Eve Of Jail Sentence

Actress may have been considering last-minute appeal before reporting to jail on Tuesday. By Gil Kaufman Lindsay Lohan Photo: David McNew/ Getty Images Once again, Lindsay Lohan is without a lawyer. On Monday, just one day before Lohan was scheduled to report for a 90-day jail sentence , former O.J. Simpson attorney Robert Shapiro stepped down from representing the troubled actress, four days after agreeing to take the case. According to KTLA , Shapiro and Lohan, 24, had an emergency meeting with Judge Marsha Revel late Monday afternoon in which Shapiro announced his resignation. The prosecutor in the case was not present for the meeting, and Shapiro did not say why he was quitting. Before stepping down, Shapiro had publicly stated that he would only represent Lohan if she agreed to go to jail instead of trying to appeal her sentence — and if she followed his instructions. Prior to Shapiro taking the case, Chicago attorney Stuart V. Goldberg met with Lohan and her family to discuss representing the “Mean Girls” star but declined, saying the actress was a “fragile, lost child” who didn’t seem aware of the gravity of her situation. Lohan’s original attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley , resigned her position shortly after the former child star’s sentencing. But KTLA reported on Monday that court records indicate that while Shapiro has been representing Lohan for the past few days, Holley never officially signed the substitution of attorney form, which means she is still the attorney of record for Lohan. Holley could not be reached for comment at press time, but KTLA reported that the attorney resigned after she learned that Lohan was “shopping” for a different lawyer. RadarOnline , citing unnamed sources close to the star, said that Holley will indeed be beside Lohan on Tuesday morning (July 20) when she submits to begin serving her sentence. Lohan has been staying at the Pickford Lofts sober-living facility for the past five days and reportedly checked out on Monday. The Lofts were founded by Shapiro after his son, Brent, died of a drug overdose. Radar speculated that Shapiro’s abrupt resignation, which coincided with Lohan checking out of the Lofts, might have signaled that the actress was going to try a last-ditch appeal to her jail term. Radar also reported that the district attorney in the case issued a stern warning to Lohan’s legal team about a possible appeal. Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers reportedly told the site that she would object to any move to send Lohan to rehab instead of jail. “I have two things to say about that, first, she had done an in-patient rehab program before — and it didn’t work,” Meyers said. “Secondly, Judge Revel has already sentenced her. She needs to do the time. Jail is the only thing that is going to get her attention.” Though sentenced to 90 days, Lohan is likely to only serve around 25 percent of her time, or 23 days, due to overcrowding. Following jail, she has been ordered to spend 90 days in in-patient rehab. Related Photos Lindsay Lohan Goes To Court The Highs And Lows Of Lindsay Lohan Related Artists Lindsay Lohan

Teresa Giudice Laughs Off Danielle Staub Lawsuit

Following his client’s confrontation with Teresa Giudice and other Real Housewives of New Jersey on this week’s explosive episode , the attorney for Danielle Staub says he plans on filing a lawsuit. Along with assault and battery charges , the lawyer says he’ll seek damages for “defamation of character.” To this assertion, Giudice has the following response: HAHA! “Don’t make me laugh. I think she’s defamed her own reputation all by herself,” Giudice told Popeater yesterday, clearly referring to Staub’s history of drug use, prostitution, sex tape production and overall lunacy. Unlike Staub, Giudice is aware that filing a restraining order against a reality TV co-star is more ridiculous than any defense of Mel Gibson. These women are paid to interact with one another in front of the camera. They don’t just choose to do so – they profit from the confrontations! “Believe me, if we could get a restraining order against a cast member, Danielle would have had four against her already,” Teresa said . “I never threatened her. She, however, has been on camera threatening me, stalking me and even practicing doing me harm.” Meanwhile, while viewers may claim to be be disgusted by these women, the ratings say otherwise: Tuesday’s episode set a record for Bravo, becoming the highest-rated non-finale of the series. A total of 3.29 million fans tuned in.

Fox News Anchor in Screaming Fit

|main|dl9|link4|http2F%2F www.bvblackspin.com 2F072Fmegyn-kelly-and-kirsten-powers-joust-over-new-black-panther-civi%2F Fox News reporter Megyn Kelly (pictured) and New York Post columnist Kirsten Powers went at it recently, regarding charges from a former Justice Department lawyer that civil rights cases where whites are the victims are ignored. The case involves allegations against two New Black Panther Party members who were accused of intimidating white voters near the entrance to the polling place of a largely black neighborhood. The men allegedly called white voters “white devil” and said that once Obama was elected, they would be “ruled by the black man, cracker.” The Bush Administration, who many observers agree had a terrible civil rights record, brought suit against the men. The new administration, including Attorney General Eric Holder, dropped the charges because they did not feel there was much of a case. “To some, the civil rights laws are not meant to protect all Americans, they are meant to protect certain Americans,” said former Justice lawyer J. Christian Adams, a conservative who helped prosecute the New Black Panther Party case. The case has taken on a life of its own in conservative circles and on Fox News, where Kelly and Powers went at it. The two women tried to talk over one another for most of the “interview,” while Kelly accused Powers of not being informed about the case: “You don't seem to know what you're talking about,” Kelly said. “Where was this outrage when the Bush Administration … was dismissing cases where black people were discriminated against?” Powers asked. “The minute I challenge you, you say I don't know what I'm talking about.” “Because you don't,” Kelly responded. At one point, Kelly threatened Powers, saying, “Don't make me cut your mic.” Although Kelly was louder, Powers held her own, saying the case was really about “the scary black man thing.” She also called Adams a “conservative activist posing as a whistleblower” and said this one case should not “provoke hysteria” as it has because action was taken in the form of an injunction. The Bush Administration, meanwhile, stocked the civil rights division with conservatives while failing to prosecute many civil rights cases involving blacks. “It's ridiculous to accuse the Obama Administration of not doing anything when they have,” said Powers. “Two wrongs make a right,” Kelly kept repeating. Mediaite columnist Colby Hall said the interview displayed “remarkably uncomfortable levels not normally seen on any cable news program.” added by: TimALoftis

Federal Indictments announced against officers in New Orleans bridge deaths

(CNN) — Federal officials announced indictments Tuesday against four police officers and two supervisors in the investigation surrounding the post-Katrina deaths of civilians on New Orleans' Danziger Bridge. At least three New Orleans police officers were in FBI custody Tuesday afternoon, an attorney for one of them confirmed. Kenneth Bowen, Anthony Villavaso and Robert Gisevius surrendered to authorities. Announcement of the charges stemming from a federal civil rights investigation was made by Attorney General Eric Holder in New Orleans. “Put simply, we will not tolerate wrongdoing by those who have sworn to protect the public,” Holder told reporters. Holder promised the Justice Department will help restore the troubled New Orleans police department. “Today marks an important step forward in administering justice, in healing community wounds, in improving public safety and in restoring public trust in this city's police department,” Holder said. He was joined by the Justice Department's civil rights chief, Thomas E. Perez, and U.S. Attorney Jim Letten, the top federal prosecutor in New Orleans. The shootings occurred at the bridge on September 4, 2005, six days after Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast. added by: TimALoftis

Mel Gibson Berates His Ex, Uses Racial Slur On Another Leaked Tape

Friend tells People magazine that troubled actor has been in therapy. By Gil Kaufman Mel Gibson Photo: Toby Canham/ Getty Images Yet another snippet of tape has emerged in which Mel Gibson is heard berating his ex-girlfriend with a breathless string of expletives and racist and sexist taunts. So far, the Academy Award-winning actor/director’s spokesperson has offered a terse “no comment” on the rants — though he has not denied that it’s his client’s voice on the tapes — and Gibson has made no statements. Speaking to People magazine, an unidentified friend of Gibson’s said the relationship with ex Oksana Grigorieva, mother of the couple’s 8-month old daughter, got so bad earlier this year that the “Lethal Weapon” star sought professional help. “He realized how unhealthy the relationship was and recognized that they were in a bad place and he was getting his buttons pushed,” the friend told the magazine about Gibson’s reported efforts to seek therapy. Gibson, who has openly struggled with alcoholism during his career, “wanted to figure out how to extricate himself from this unhealthy relationship peacefully and calmly. Which is what he did.” It’s unclear if the move came before or after the recordings were made, but in the excerpts released so far, Gibson is heard viciously excoriating Grigorieva, showering her with a string of foul and violent language, including apparent threats on her life and a seeming admission that he physically attacked her. Police in Los Angeles have opened a domestic-violence investigation into an alleged incident in January, in which Gibson is reported to have struck Grigorieva, knocking out several teeth. TMZ reported Tuesday (July 13) that the star witness in a possible domestic-violence trial could be Grigorieva’s dentist, Dr. Ross Shelden. Unnamed sources familiar with Grigorieva’s treatment claim Shelden took photos of her mouth the day after the couple’s alleged January fight and that the images have been turned over to her attorney, though he did not report the incident to police at the time because Grigorieva asked him to keep it confidential. Though Gibson’s side has allegedly claimed that Grigorieva simply lost her veneers, her camp says Shelden’s conclusion was that she lost one tooth and had another one chipped. A source told People magazine that the phone arguments were recorded in February, not long after the alleged January incident. The couple reportedly split around March, and People reported that a custody settlement, which Gibson’s lawyer described as “very generous” with an eventual 50/50 custody split, was signed in May. But Grigorieva, 40, has alleged that the payments have stopped coming recently. After a tape emerged Monday in which Gibson appears to threaten Grigorieva’s life — leaked just days after he was dropped by his longtime talent agency — the new six-minute recording Radar Online posted Tuesday finds the couple fighting over a Latina housekeeper, whom Gibson, 54, refers to with the racist epithet “wetback.” The latest ethnic slur comes on the back of earlier recordings in which Gibson used the word “n—er.” The couple appear to be sparring over a housekeeper who works at both their homes, with Grigorieva claiming she needs extra help because of the baby. Gibson refuses, saying, “I will fire [name omitted] if she’s at your house. I will make it known and fire her. I’ll report her to the f—ing people that take f—ing money from the wetbacks, OK?” While Grigorieva repeatedly denies Gibson’s claims that she’s a gold digger, at one point the divorced actor — who is reported to have made tens of millions or more from his self-financed film “The Passion of the Christ” — screams, “I’m paying my tax money instead of the credit card [bill]. Don’t you get it?” The aspiring Russian singer, whose career was reportedly fueled in part by Gibson’s money, also complains of financial problems, telling her ex, “You made me moneyless. … I used to have $100,000 a year when you met me. You took me, you possessed me, everything I am. You own me, with my liver and my kidneys and my thoughts and my soul. Everything! My career, whatever it is. Pathetic career. Whatever it is, it’s yours. You control me like marionette. I don’t belong to myself, only to you. I can’t do anything, and I walk on eggshells always with you!” He responds, “That’s because you’re a f—ing using whore! Now, I own you.” The staunchly Catholic actor later accuses Grigorieva of cheating on him during their three-year relationship; Gibson’s wife of nearly 30 years filed for divorce from him last year. Grigorieva tells him he’s mentally ill and that she knows she has no claim to his fortune. “I’m not the whore and I’m not the bitch and I’m not the cu– and I’m not the user and I’m not the thief and all those words,” she says. “And I’m not a liar. All this, all this lies. All this lies. I’m not a whore or cu– or thief or prostitute or anything that you call me. I’m not a user. I’m not a gold digger. I don’t have any money and no property assigned to me. That’s a gold digger for you? Are you insane? Yes, you are, of course. We can hear that, because you’re screaming.”

Lindsay Lohan’s Lawyer Quits

Actress was sentenced to 90 days in jail two days ago. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lindsay Lohan Photo: Dave McNew/ Getty Images Lindsay Lohan’s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley has resigned in the midst of the starlet’s ongoing legal drama. TMZ reports that when the website contacted Holley for comment Thursday (July 8), she told the site that she was no longer representing Lohan. Lohan’s New York lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, verified the attorney’s exit. “I can confirm [Holley] is not representing Lindsay at this point,” Ovadia told the New York Daily News, adding, “Lindsay is in the process of hiring new counsel.” Holley has reportedly been replaced by lawyer Tiffany Feder-Cohen. Holley did not respond to MTV News’ requests for comment at press time, and Feder-Cohen’s office would not confirm nor deny that the lawyer is now representing Lohan. Holley’s departure is an abrupt move as the attorney was still representing Lohan Thursday morning and even released a statement to MTV News defending the troubled star. “Ms. Lohan and I are extremely disappointed in the sentence handed down by Judge Revel,” Holley said in a statement on July 8, just two days after her client was sentenced to 90 days in jail followed by 90 days in rehab . Holley also blasted the punishment handed down by Revel, insisting it is too severe. “We believe that the penalty is far harsher than what others would have received under similar circumstances.” Holley said Lohan’s ability to adhere to the terms of her probation was affected by the demands of her professional obligations. “The reality is that Ms. Lohan, like most defendants, had to balance work commitments with court requirements,” Holley continued in the statement. “To be punished so severely for doing so, particularly in light of the fact that she substantially complied with each of her probationary conditions, is harsh and unfair.” Others in the legal community have echoed Holley’s sentiments that the sentence is severe. “I think it was really harsh, especially in light of the fact that she was basically compliant as of yesterday’s court date to be done by [July] 15th,” attorney Scott Leemon told MTV News on Wednesday. “This judge just wanted to prove a point that no one messes with her in her court. I’ve had clients mess up on probation, but even when the prosecution asked for only 30 days, she gave her 90 plus 90 of inpatient? Without a doubt, this decision was made by the judge [after] she felt disrespected by Lindsay, who didn’t seem like she got the point,” said Leeman, who has represented stars such as 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes. “The fact that the court gave her three times what the people had asked for [prosecutors requested a 30-day sentence] is surprising, and in some cases you read that as a ‘celebrity tax,’ ” said Stacey Richman, who has represented Lil Wayne. However, Richman added that Judge Revel has also been generous to the star. “If she’s flaunted her probation not once, but three or four times, the judge has been very kind in giving her so many opportunities to stay with the program.” Related Photos Lindsay Lohan Goes To Court

Oksana Grigorieva: Mel Gibson is a Deadbeat Dad!

Mel Gibson’s estranged ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva is lashing out at the actor and his lawyer for claiming Mel has been generous in supporting their baby. Oksana’s lawyer, Marci Levine, says to the contrary, “The statement released to TMZ on behalf of Mel Gibson is based upon complete distortions of the truth.” Regarding Mr. Gibson’s financial contributions toward the parties’ child, Levine says he “conveniently ignores obligations to the child under California law.” He’s accused of closing his fist and punching her in the face , but Mel’s lawyer, Stephen Kolodny says Mel has opened up his wallet for Oksana Grigorieva. Gibson put her up in a multi-million dollar house, bought her a car, provided health insurance and gave her “tens of thousands of dollars,” says his attorney. WAR OF WORDS : Mel and Oksana are in a heated one . Levine would not specifically say how Mel has fallen short, but Oksana sources are claiming the actor has not paid child support since they split this spring. She says, “Mr. Gibson persists in attempting to ‘litigate’ this matter in the media, and continues to launch false accusations against the mother of his child.” “Unlike Mr. Gibson, Ms. Grigorieva has not, and will not engage in undignified banter in the press,” Levine adds, echoing similar accusations from Mel’s side. Mel’s violent behavior has also been a topic of debate between the warring parties, with Oksana claiming he knocked her teeth out and Mel denying that.
