The girls have been in Los Angeles this week doing interviews and promoting raising money to fight cancer. We love this photo they tweeted out in front of their father’s mural: What a beautiful shot. The ladies have been tweeting out information about how to donate to the Jimmy V Foundation which is accepting donations to benefit the Stuart Scott Memorial Cancer fund. We lost a real one with Stuart Scott. So glad we have Taelor and Sydni to carry on his legacy.
This…is…crazy… Jonathan Sanders Murder Before a Mississippi cop strangled unarmed Jonathan Sanders for 20 minutes until he died, he allegedly yelled “I’m gonna get that n****r.” SMFH…. The Huffington Post reports: When Jonathan Sanders, an unarmed black man, died last week in Mississippi while in police custody, it was a racially motivated killing, attorneys representing the victim’s family claimed Tuesday. Sanders, 39, a resident of Stonewall, Mississippi, died last Wednesday after allegedly being placed in a chokehold by Officer Kevin Herrington, attorneys C.J. Lawrence and Chokwe Lumumba told The Huffington Post on Tuesday. Sanders, who trained horses and was often seen riding around in a horse-drawn buggy, was at a gas station with one of his animals at about 10 p.m. Wednesday when he saw an altercation between Herrington and another white man, whom Sanders knew. According to Lawrence, Sanders approached them and asked Herrington to leave the other man alone. A witness told the attorneys that after Sanders left, Herrington allegedly said, “I’m gonna get that n****r.” Lawrence said multiple eyewitnesses have told the attorneys that Herrington then got in his car with an unidentified civilian female and drove after Sanders, who was on his buggy. Three eyewitnesses who are related to Sanders by marriage, and who say they saw the altercation from their home, said the officer turned on his police lights when he was just behind Sanders. The lights startled the horse, which took off at a sprint, throwing Sanders off his buggy. “Jonathan immediately began to run after his horse, unaware of what was going on behind him,” Lawrence said. “Herrington proceeded to chase Jonathan.” Herrington allegedly grabbed a headlight tied around Sanders’ head, pulling it down to his neck and yanking him to the ground. Sanders’ body was slumped down in a “praying position” as Herrington allegedly wrapped his arms around the man’s neck, placing him a chokehold, Lawrence said. The three witnesses in the home told the attorneys the officer would not release his grip. At the time, the witnesses said, they were not aware that the man in the officer’s grip was Sanders, their relative. One of the witnesses, who works as a correctional officer in Stonewall, came out to confront Herrington, allegedly asking the officer to let Sanders go. Herrington told the correctional officer that Sanders had reached for his gun, according to the attorneys. The correctional officer repeatedly asked Herrington to let Sanders go so that the correctional officer could perform CPR on him, but Herrington allegedly declined, according to testimony. Lawrence and Lumumba said that although it only took three minutes for Staten Island man Eric Garner to die in a chokehold in a widely publicized case last summer, Sanders was allegedly placed in a chokehold for more than 20 minutes before EMTs arrived. Former Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford has lost her legal battle with ex-husband Daniel Giersch, with whom she has been battling over their two kids. The stakes were high. Helena and Hermes live abroad with their German-born father per a judge’s order, and despite Kelly’s efforts, it will stay that way. Although they have joint custody, Daniel has been denied the ability re-enter the U.S., and the court has ordered the children to live with him abroad. The rationale was that Kelly was able to freely travel, so she could go visit them. The actress has contested this but her legal challenge was denied. Not even dating Matthew Settle in real life can soften that blow. She said recently: “My children, not only were they taken away, but they were sent to a foreign country. I don’t know how you even explain to someone what it feels like.” “I could sit here and tell you how often a cry. I can tell you how it feels to leave my kids in a foreign country. ‘I told my son…’You know, mommy is still fighting for you.'” “To go see them after not seeing them for weeks on end … not being able to take them to school, pick them up from school, dress them, smell them, hug them.” It’s confusing, but Giersch was ordered to apply for another visa, but hasn’t done so. Kelly tried to go to federal court, but they said that since the children hadn’t been deported, they couldn’t intervene. Giersch’s attorney said in a statement: “Daniel Giersch continues to protect the children from any negativity and therefore will continue to not engage in any of these unfortunate and false media fabrications.” Fabrications, he says, “which only served one person, but clearly not the children.” This legal fight has been so long and costly that Kelly Rutherford is bankrupt or close to it as a result of the attorneys’ fees and time spent not working. Darren Wilson Resigns From Ferguson Police Department After Not Being Charged For Killing Mike Brown Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, who fired at least 12 shots at unarmed teenager Mike Brown that resulted in his death during a confrontation in August, has officially resigned from his job. via NBC News The white police officer who killed Michael Brown has resigned from the Ferguson Police Department, nearly four months after the confrontation that fueled protests in the St. Louis suburb and across the nation. Darren Wilson has been on administrative leave since the Aug. 9 shooting. His resignation was announced Saturday by one of his attorneys, Neil Bruntrager. Bruntrager says the resignation is effective immediately. A grand jury spent more than three months reviewing evidence in the case before declining in November to issue any charges against the 28-year-old Wilson. He told jurors that he feared for his life when Brown hit him and grabbed for his gun. The U.S. Justice Department is still conducting a civil rights investigation into the shooting and a separate probe of police department practices. Joyce Giraud and Carlton Gebbia are on the chopping block because they don’t bring the drama. Faye Resnick would not have that problem. Apollo Nida is nearing plea deal with the government just two months after his arrest for identity theft, bank fraud, and conspiracy charges, reports indicate. Will that be enough to keep The Real Housewives of Atlanta star out of jail? As is the case with fellow Bravo star Teresa Giudice, all of this remains unclear. Nida, Phaedra Parks’ husband and the guy Kenya Moore wants to bone ( watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta online for more on that), was arrested in January. On February 14, the court set a pre-trial date of March 25. Since that time, his attorneys “and counsel for the government have been engaged in discussions,” newly filed court documents obtained by Radar reveal. “They are still in the process of investigating additional facts and negotiating a resolution,” and “have made substantial progress toward a resolution.” Does that mean he’ll cop a plea and avoid the slammer? It’s not yet known, but the court agreed to yet another extension, up until April 25, in the hopes that Apollo Nida will be able to come to a deal with the government. The new extension ensures he will have “sufficient time to consult with his counsel, investigate all material, and continue said discussions with the government.” Think he’ll skate? Should he? Lady Gaga has been on the receiving end of multiple lawsuits, but this time, she is taking it to a clothing designer who has been making “Gagajeans.” Designer Philip Scott‘s “sexitized easy access jeans” feature a horizontal zipper across the crotch area … totally not trying to utilize Gaga’s name. “When you see someone real fine-looking wearing them,” he promises on his website, “your mind can only go one place and that is to the zipper.” Scott recently filed a trademark request to market the pants as “Gagajeans,” but was quickly slammed by a letter from the Lady’s attorneys on October 1. Attorneys for the singer, who released her ARTPOP album cover Monday, wrote: “It has come to our client’s attention that you have filed an application to register the mark GAGAJEANS and are using the GAGAJEANS mark in connection with the jeans.” “In particular, you have misappropriated the dominant feature of our client’s mark, GAGA, and merely added the generic term ‘jeans.’ “Your use and registration of the GAGAJEANS mark is likely to cause confusion, mistake, and deception of consumers that Lady Gaga is affiliated with [the product].” According to Gaga’s attorneys, Smith also commented on Lady Gaga videos attempting to direct fans to his website, gagajeans.co (which has since been taken down). As such, they demand that Scott abandon his trademark request, deactivate his website, cease and desist making the jeans, destroy any prototypes and more. “If we do not hear from you by October 10,” the attorneys write, “we will assume that you have no desire to resolve this amicably and we will proceed accordingly without any further notice to you.” But Smith insists he did nothing wrong: “Gaga is a word that has many meanings … But none of those meanings are of a rich female singer who uses her wealth and power and position to harass, bully and slander in order to get her way.” “Actually, I guess that could be the meaning of ‘Lady Gaga!’” Well played there. He goes on: “All I know is that I applied for the trademark Gagajeans and when they did the trademark search it showed that no one was using it and that I could apply for it.” “I have never in any comments or actions tried to fool anyone into believing Lady Gaga is in any way connected to or associated with Gagajeans.” “Lady Gaga just wants to trademark the name ‘Gaga’ and has not or cannot,” he claims. “This is not my fault. If she had trademarked the name ‘Gaga,’ then I would not have applied for the name Gagajeans for my trademark.” “I will not cancel my application for the Gagajeans trademark.
