WikiLeaks next target – the banks

Just a day after their big scoop WikiLeaks announced plans to release tens of thousands of internal documents from a major US bank. The revelations will be made public early next year, according to Forbes Magazine.WikiLeaks' founder Julian Assange declined to identify the bank, but he said that he expected that the disclosures, which follow his group's release of U.S. military and diplomatic documents, would lead to investigations, Reuters reports. Bank revelation will be a “megaleak” Talking to Forbes, Assange said: “We have one related to a bank coming up, that's a megaleak. It's not as big a scale as the Iraq material, but it's either tens or hundreds of thousands of documents depending on how you define it.”He declined to identify the bank, describing it only as a major U.S. bank that is still in existence.Asked what he wanted to be the result of the disclosure, he replied: “I'm not sure. It will give a true and representative insight into how banks behave at the executive level in a way that will stimulate investigations and reforms, I presume.”He compared this release to emails that were unveiled as a result of the collapse of disgraced energy company Enron Corp.”This will be like that. Yes, there will be some flagrant violations, unethical practices that will be revealed, but it will also be all the supporting decision-making structures and the internal executive ethos … and that's tremendously valuable,” Assange said.”You could call it the ecosystem of corruption. But it's also all the regular decision making that turns a blind eye to and supports unethical practices: the oversight that's not done, the priorities of executives, how they think they're fulfilling their own self-interest,” he said.Assange also told Forbes that WikiLeaks has material on many businesses and governments, including Russia, and that it has some documents on pharmaceutical companies, which he did not identify. added by: sbacker

BBC News – Ecuador offers Wikileaks founder Assange residency

Deputy Foreign Minister Kintto Lucas said his country's government wanted to invite Mr Assange to Ecuador to give him the opportunity to speak publicly. He said Ecuador was concerned about some of the alleged American activities revealed by Wikileaks. Earlier this year Sweden refused an application from Mr Assange, who is Australian, for residency there. “We are open to giving him residency in Ecuador, without any problem and without any conditions,” Mr Lucas said. “We are going to try and invite him to Ecuador to freely present, not only via the internet, but also through different public forums, the information and documentation that he has,” he said. Mr Lucas added: “We think it would be important not only to converse with him but also to listen to him.” added by: mik661

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange seeking asylum in Switzerland over fears for his safety

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is considering applying for asylum in Switzerland because he fears for his safety. The controversial intelligence hacker said he was still looking into the process, the Associated Press reports. “The Swiss have a history of fierce independence,” he told reporters. Assange applied for residency in Sweden in October, but his application was rejected as Swedish authorities look into allegations he sexually assaulted two Swedish women. The 39-year-old Australian denied those charges. Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/2010/11/06/2010-11-06_wikileaks_founder_ju… added by: mik661

Danielle Cormack Tits from Rake of the Day

You may be wondering why I am posting a sex scene from some Australian TV show I have never seen and the answer is because I like to support and encourage nudity on television. It’s the only way the shit will ever compete with the internet and I’m hoping it makes the world less uptight about tits and pussy. You see we live in a world where advertisers prefer being next to images of dudes being murdered to titties being played with. I am also posting it because I am convinced the only people who come to the site are fucking weird. You know the whole virgin, loser, videogame social awkwardness needed to care about celebrities, scifi, fantasy and role playing games…so you probably already know who this is and may have already died and gone to heaven because of her role on Xena Warrior Princess….the worst thing to hit TV that weirdos fell in love with…at attended fan clubs for…. She was also in a movie called “Topless Women Talk About Their Lives”… But you don’t care. She’ll always be your Xena girlfriend…you still have all her action figures, posters, and other memorabilia, if anything you think this Danielle Cormack chick is your Xena girlfriend’s alter ego, cuz you can’t differentiate reality and fake….and who really cares. Watch her sex scene.

Autistic kid gets Penis Tattoo By Australian "Artist" Leads To Charges

I don't know why the Huffington post has him as an artist, when he doesn't have a license to tattoo people. The jerk smiled and has admitted to doing it because he was upset at the kid. ******************************************************************************************** A 25-year-old Australian found himself the victim of the worst kind of prank — one conducted by a tattoo artist with a particularly raunchy sense of humor. Despite having requested some fairly harmless ink — a yin-yang symbol and some dragons — the man returned home to discover a 16-inch penis and an obscene, albeit misspelled, slogan “implying that he was gay” inscribed on his back, the Ipswich Queensland Times reports. “When he got home he showed it to the person he lives with and she said: 'I don't think it's the tattoo you were after,'” Queensland detective Paul Malcolm told the Times. And as if being permanently marked with a giant phallus on his back wasn't enough, the victim was also allegedly punched and thrown out of the studio by the 21-year-old amateur artist after the tattoo was completed, according to the AFP. Upon discovering the prank, the victim immediately contacted the police. The former friend who allegedly etched the tattoo is due in court Nov. 15, and has been charged with two counts of assault. He potentially faces additional public safety charges as he was not a licensed tattoo artist. On top of the inevitable ridicule, the victim reportedly faces a bill of between $600 to $2,000 to have the tattoo removed. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/27/australian-artist-charged_n_774608.html added by: KSirys

8 Milestones in the Evolution of Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe tries his best at counterprogramming this weekend with his new prison break thriller, The Next Three Days . But how did Crowe get to the point of bankable action star after his debut on an Australian television series? You can always trace a direct line through a handful of roles (not necessarily his best roles, mind you) to illustrate what led to an actor’s current success, and with Crowe, that line twists through soap operas, cop dramas, thrillers, and, of course, one fateful Oscar night. Let’s look at eight performances — including one of his earliest — that trace the evolution of Russell Ira Crowe.

30 Seconds To Mars Call Kanye West Collabo An ‘Unexpected Surprise’

‘It’s one of the strongest things that he’s done,’ Jared Leto tells MTV News of ‘Hurricane.’ By James Montgomery 30 Seconds to Mars’ Jared Leto Photo: Sohyung Kang/ MTV News Last year, when 30 Seconds to Mars were still laboring on This Is War, more than a few eyebrows were raised when Kanye West posted a photo on his blog of him, Jared Leto and the Killers’ Brandon Flowers in the studio, where the trio had apparently just finished recording a “dope-ass song.” Later, Leto explained to MTV News that the “dope-ass song” was called “Hurricane,” and it featured West singing, minus the Auto-Tune he’d been dabbling with at the time (there was no mention of Flowers’ involvement). It sounded like a promising collaboration, but, sadly, fans never actually got to hear it: When This Is War hit stores, “Hurricane” was on there, but West’s work wasn’t. Leto explained that the band had to remove Kanye from the track at the last minute, due to some rather restrictive deadlines and a lot of back-and-forth between record labels, but he and his 30STM mates were so impressed with West’s contributions that they pledged that someday, somehow, the song would see the light of day. And, as it turns out, they kept their promise. On November 2, 30STM will release a deluxe edition of This Is War, featuring a DVD, a pair of live tracks recorded for the BBC (including a version of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance”) and, at long last, the full, Kanye West-ified version of “Hurricane.” It’s been a long time in the making, but, as Leto told MTV News on Friday (September 24), the song is worth the wait. “Let’s put it this way: It’s a collision of two worlds, and I think it’s a completely unexpected surprise. He’s not only on the track, but he’s phenomenal on the track. … It’s one of the strongest things that he’s done, in my opinion,” he said. “His singing is incredible on it, and he’s done a lot of really wonderful work, and I think this only adds to his work as a whole. … Working with him was an incredible experience.” Leto said the new/old version of “Hurricane” (he prefers to call it “an alternative experience”) doesn’t stray all that far from the version that ended up on This Is War — they’re both decidedly bleak ruminations on death and lust and sacrifice — but it does feature West getting darker than he’s ever gotten before. “It was an interesting time. … I remember, he started here at the house, where we made the record, and then we finished in Hawaii,” Leto said. “It is a song that’s on the darker side of things. It’s the flipside of ‘Kings and Queens’ — which has a through line of optimism and hope, and a really strong spirit to it — this song explores a different territory, and his lyrics do the same.” Leto added that, if it were up to him and West, the song would’ve ended up on the original version of This Is War, but now that 30STM are gearing up to shoot a video for the track , it does present a rather interesting opportunity — perhaps a cameo by Kanye? “I think that would be an interesting element to add for sure,” Leto laughed. “We’ll just have to see.” Are you happy the Kanye/30STM collabo is finally seeing the light of day? ‘Glee’ Tackles Britney Spears’ Snake-Charming VMA Set

Heather Morris rocks a boa and bikini similar to Spears’ 2001 Video Music Awards performance. By Mawuse Ziegbe Heather Morris on “Glee” Photo: Adam Rose/ Fox Hold tight, Gleeks! The all-Britney Spears episode of “Glee” is just days away, and details about the pop star’s tribute are trickling in. We already know the McKinley high-schoolers are going to revamp Brit’s debut smash ” … Baby One More Time” and her Madonna match-up “Me Against the Music.” The song-and-dance crew has also reached beyond Spears’ trendsetting clips to one of her iconic stage performances: the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards rendition of “I’m a Slave 4 U.” A picture surfaced Friday (September 24) of the megastar’s “Glee” namesake Brittany (played by Heather Morris) rocking a bejeweled green-and-blue two-piece similar to Spears’ skimpy VMA ensemble, with a yellow boa draped over her shoulders. Morris recently opened up about the arc of Tuesday’s episode, dishing that the glee clubbers rebel against Schuester’s ban on retooling Spears’ hits. “Through a special substance, I go under and have a couple of dream sequences — not only myself, but with Santana [Naya Rivera],” Morris told Australian magazine TV Week. “A lot of it has to do with Will [Matthew Morrison] not allowing us to perform Britney Spears songs, because he doesn’t agree with what kind of entertainer she is, so it’s our fight to do Britney. But it’s not just us doing Britney in show choir; there are other sequences — it’s our homage to her.” Tuesday’s show is shaping up to be a busy one for Morris, who is also vamping it up opposite Spears herself in their reworking of “Music.” However, the actress insisted her previous encounters with Spears helped her stay cool around the pop icon. “It wasn’t really nerve-racking, because I’ve met her before and I wasn’t really overwhelmed by who she is,” she said. “But the idea of what she has given us for the show and, for me, getting to dance with her and play with her on set, I was just staring at her at one point and thinking, ‘This is just so frickin’ awesome.’ ” Are you excited for the Britney takeover on “Glee” next week? Michael Ware, Former CNN War Correspondent, Speaks Out On Alleged War Crime CNN Refused To Air

War correspondent Michael Ware worked for CNN from 2006 until April of this year, during which time he became known for covering the hellscape of our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan with brutal honesty and an keen analytical sense that often cut against the standard talking points. He's since been struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder and today the Brisbane Times is reporting on an event that might have contributed to that — an alleged 2007 war crime that CNN refused to air. Kate Dennehy, who reports that Ware is “set to reveal” the details, describes the incident: Mr Ware tells of the alleged incident he says he witnessed and filmed in 2007 when working for US news giant CNN, but claims the network decided the footage was too graphic to go to air. He alleges that a teenager in a remote Iraqi village run by the militant Islamist group, al-Qaeda was carrying a weapon to protect himself. “(The boy) approached the house we were in and the (US) soldiers who were watching our backs, one of them put a bullet right in the back of his head. Unfortunately it didn't kill him,” he tells Australian Story. “We all spent the next 20 minutes listening to his tortured breath as he died.” Ware goes on to describe his mental state during that time, in which he realized that he was “more concerned with the composition” of his photo than he was with intervening in some way. “I indeed had been indifferent as the soldiers around me whose indifference I was attempting to capture,” Ware says. In 2008, Ware gave an interview with Men's Journal's Greg Veis, that hinted at his mental anguish. “I am not the same fucking person,” he tells me. “I am not the same person. I don't know how to come home.” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/21/michael-ware-former-cnn-w_n_733030.html added by: CaptSutter
