Usually, when we report on Tori Spelling it’s because the struggling actress has found herself in a new heap of financial trouble. But believe it or not, Tori’s life has been on a bit of an upswing in recent months. The Beverly Hills 90210 reboot she’s starring in has fared surprisingly well, which means that for the first time in a very long time, Tori Spelling is a working actress appearing in a project that people actually watch. Tori is still broke, of course, because no six episode run of a semi-satirical reboot is sufficient to put a dent in her massive debt, but the show’s surprise rating success could mean a second season, which would likely lead to a raise, and a light at the end of the tunnel for Spelling and her family. In the meantime, Tori is doing everything she can to take advantage of her winning streak. When her money problems were at their most dire, Spelling made a major real estate downgrade, selling her mansion in swank Calabasas in favor of a rental home in working-class Encino . Now, she’s apparently climbing the ladder again, as Radar Online reports that Tori and husband Dean McDermott have rented a house in Hidden Hills, just ten minutes outside of Calabasas. Unfortunately, it seems Tori’s efforts to befriend her well-heeled neighbors have thus far come up short. The most famous residents of Calabasas are, of course, the Kardashians. And it appears that Tori has been focused like a laser on the task of befriending Kim. “Tori really admires Kim and everything she’s accomplished,” says the insider. “She’s putting the word out to neighbors and mutual friends that she’d love to be in Kim’s moms’ club and get together for BBQs and playdates on the weekends with the other Kardashian sisters and their kids.” It makes sense that Tori would be so gung-ho about becoming besties with Kim. After all, even with BH90210 gig, Tori is more social media figure than actress, and a friendship with Kim would likely boost her profile. Unfortunately, for Spelling, the insider says she “can’t even get a return call” from Mrs. Kardashian-West. “Truth is, Kim just thinks Tori is the world’s biggest loser and incredibly tacky with her mountain of debts and she’s annoyed that she’s brought her baggage to her exclusive Hidden Hills enclave,” the source adds. Now, if only Tori could get her to say that to her face and capture the whole thing on camera. That scene alone would be enough to land the Spellings a new reality show.
