Tell ‘Em Why You Mad: Miss Jilly From Philly Cries About The Grammys With A Little Twitter Pitty Party

See that kids? Even Jill Scott , living voluptuous goddess and embodiment of light that she is, can have a less than gracious moment. Last night, immediately following the 2012 Grammy Awards Nomination announcement, Jill Scott voiced her (very worthy) disappointment to almost 170,000 of her closest fans. But she wasn’t just upset for herself… So that was the end of it right? Not quite…

Oscar Index: So an Artist and a Horse Walk into a Bar…

Good news and bad news this week from Movieline’s Institute For the Advanced Study of Kudos Forensics — the good news being that a handful of critics organizations and awards bodies have helped to draw the year’s noteworthiest (i.e. Oscar-baitiest) titles and talent of the season into their sharpest relief yet. The bad news: Sharp relief remains a total mess, with the fields in most major categories wide open heading into December. Which is the way we like it, right? Right? Ugh. To the Index…

Nicolas Cage’s ‘Superman’ Comic Sells for $2.1 Million

Actor’s pristine copy of ‘Superman’ debut sets record for comic book sale. By Gil Kaufman Nicolas Cage at the “Kick-Ass” premiere Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images It’s a good thing Nicolas Cage was able to get his rare copy of “Action Comics” No. 1 back in April after it was stolen from his house in 2000. Because in an online auction on Wednesday, the most sought-after comic in history sold for a record $2.1 million , after 50 people bid in an online auction on the June 1938 book in which Superman makes his debut. Cage’s copy (though the identity of the owner has not been disclosed, many believe it still belongs to the actor), one of only 100 believed to remain in existence, was graded at 9.0 before the auction, making it the best condition of an Action #1 that has ever been graded by the leading comic book grading company, Certified Guaranty Company. Shattering the previous $1.5 million record for a less-well preserved copy of “Action Comics” No.1 sold last March, Cage’s comic became the most expensive to ever sell at auction
, when it went for $2,161,000. And it almost didn’t happen. Cage’s comic was stolen from his house in 2000 and then recovered by Los Angeles police when an unidentified man bought the contents of an abandoned storage locker in the San Fernando Valley. Cage reported it stolen on January 21, 2000, after noticing that it, along with two other rare comics, had been stolen from security frames mounted on the wall of his Los Angeles home. According to The Hollywood Reporter , experts believe that only five other No. 1’s with quality near Cage’s exist and all are in private hands. Cage bought his copy at auction in 1997 for around $150,000.

Bruno Mars Calls Grammy-Nominated ‘Grenade’ His ‘Trophy Song’

Mars and the Smeezingtons also recognized for Doo-Wops & Hooligans at Wednesday’s Grammy Nominations Concert. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Bruno Mars backstage at the Grammy Nominations Concert Photo: MTV News Bruno Mars is up for six Grammy Awards, including such marquee noms as Album of the Year for Doo-Wops & Hooligans as well as Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for his ballad “Grenade.” Shortly after the singer learned he and his team, the Smeezingtons, were recognized for their breakthrough album and track, Mars chatted with MTV News backstage after the Grammy Nominations Concert in Los Angeles, and he seemed pretty overwhelmed by all of it. “Incredible. We worked really hard,” he said. “We worked hard in the studio right down the street, actually. And it’s a little tiny shack, but for the two years we were in there, we just locked ourselves in that room and came up with Doo-Wops & Hooligans .” All the hard work on the album, which also features hits “The Lazy Song” and “Just the Way You Are,” seems to have paid off with recognition not only for the release, but also for its crowning jewel of a track. “Worked extremely hard on ‘Grenade.’ That was the hardest song on the whole album to finish because we knew we had something, and to get all that emotion out,” he said. “I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we’re really happy that that song is being recognized because that’s like our trophy song.” While Mars seemed pretty poised backstage, he admitted it was a little hard for him to keep his cool while they were announcing the nominees during the telecast, which included two performances by Lady Gaga . “They kept cutting the camera to me every time. I wanted to jump up and punch [Smeezingtons partner Philip Lawrence] in the face and knee him, noogies, but I’m trying to be cool ’cause I know mom’s watching,” Mars joked. The 54th annual Grammy Awards will air February 12 on CBS. Will Bruno Mars win a Grammy? Share your thoughts below! Watch the Trailer for Camp Hell, the Horror Pic Jesse Eisenberg Wishes He Could Take Back

To be fair, nothing in Jesse Eisenberg ‘s recently filed lawsuit claims that he wishes he could take back his five-minute cameo in the low budget horror pic Camp Hell , about evil unleashing a bloodbath at a Christian youth retreat. (That’s just a guess.) The actor is simply a stickler for truth in advertising and wants his fans to know he’s “not the star of and does not appear in a prominent role in Camp Hell .” As for co-stars Bruce Davison, Dana Delaney, and Andrew McCarthy… well, you’re kinda stuck. Watch the unintentional horrors unfold in the trailer after the jump!

Don’t Get Daniel Craig Started on the Kardashians

“I think there’s a lot to be said for keeping your own counsel,” the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo lead opined in a recent interview when the subject of attention-craved stars came up. “You can’t buy your privacy back. Ooh, I want to be alone. F– you. We’ve been in your living room. We were at your birth. It is a career; I’m not being cynical. And why wouldn’t you? Look at the Kardashians, they’re worth millions… I don’t think they were that badly off to begin with, but now look at them. You see that and you think, ‘What, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f–ing idiot on television and then you’ll pay me millions?’ I’m not judging it. Well, I am, obviously.” [ EW ]
