Stewart bids a topless farewell to her days as Bella Swan in the celebrity-studded clip. By Kevin P. Sullivan Kristen Stewart in the “On the Road” trailer Photo: MK2 Productions The trailer for “On the Road,” an adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s seminal beat generation novel, finally hit the Web and brought the cool of 1960s America with it. We saw Kristen Stewart shake it and roll one up. Garrett Hedlund talks about the dumb stuff that he does and can’t explain, and Sam Riley sounds disturbingly like Heath Ledger’s Joker. Here are our five key scenes from the “One the Road” trailer. KStew Rolls Deep This is not the Bella Swan you know. This is Marylou, the 16-year-old, reefer-smoking chick that Dean Moriarty (Hedlund) just married. We’re not sure if there could have been a more striking image to let us know that Kristen Stewart has left Forks, Washington, far behind her. A Breezy Drive Let’s take that last part back for one second. If we needed a clearer image that Stewart is removing the mantle of Bella Swan for her future career, we have what looks like a shot of the actress removing something else in the front seat with Garrett Hedlund and Sam Riley: her top. We’ve seen Stewart with an edge in several of her other films, but for “On the Road,” she seems to be bidding “Twilight” adieu in style. The Freakout As a key work of the beat generation, what would a film adaptation of “On the Road” be without a good old-fashioned drug freak-out dance? Here we see Hedlund tripping out and getting his freak on. It’s rare that we see such a loose Hedlund, and the scene gives a good idea of the kind of shenanigans Dean will be up to.
Might be time to get that passport ladies… For most people, good-looking men don’t normally qualify as a tourist attraction. But that could all change thanks to Traveler’s Digest and their newly-published list of where the world’s hottest men call home. While the magazine doesn’t give much detail about their choices, they do assure readers that the selection process was based entirely on a woman’s perspective. We’re not sure which woman, but we hope she didn’t bring home any permanent souvenirs. So pack your bags, lady travelers, and declare your independence from the tired, wack man crop in your neck of the woods. After all, mingling with the natives technically counts as a cultural experience worthy of more than just a notch on the bedpost.
‘He just messed up and left it in his bag,’ Travis Porter’s Ali tells MTV News of the gun found in Strap’s bag at the airport. By Rob Markman Travis Porter’s Ali and Quez Photo: MTV News On Wednesday, Travis Porter member Strap was arrested when police at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport found a firearm in one of his bags at a security checkpoint. But according to the trio’s other members, Ali and Quez, things aren’t as sinister as they may seem. “The situation was, like, an honest mistake,” Quez told MTV News on Thursday (February 16) in New York. “He just messed up and left it in his bag,” Ali reiterated. According to the group, the gun was registered to Strap, whose real name is Harold Duncan. When traveling to the airport for a promo trip to New York, the rapper simply forgot to remove the pistol from his luggage. At the time of the interview, Quez confirmed that the wheels were already in motion to get Strap out of jail. “He ain’t in there for life. We know he gonna get out,” he said. “They’re going to pay his bond right now.” Quez was actually with Strap when he was arrested and described the entire ordeal to MTV News. “It was crazy, because he was looking so confused,” the rapper said when detailing the search and subsequent arrest. “He didn’t know what was going on, and they told him, ‘You got some business in your bag, bro.’ ” The trio have been a staple on the Atlanta rap scene for a number of years. They first gained notoriety after appearing on Roscoe Dash’s 2008 hit “All the Way Turnt Up,” and in 2010, the guys broke through off the strength of their strip-club anthem “Make It Rain.” The song peaked at #9 on the Billboard rap charts and piqued interest for the group’s oft-delayed debut album, No Sleep to Atlanta, on RCA Records. ‘I had to go home to recharge; Pauly is just not enough,’ Staten Islander tells MTV News of taking a break from the boardwalk. By Christina Garibaldi, with reporting by Matt Elias Vinny contemplates leaving on “Jersey Shore” Photo: MTV After spending season four of “Jersey Shore” in Italy, the Seaside gang headed right back to Jersey, as fans saw after last week’s season-five premiere . But while they wasted no time getting into their old routine of hitting the gym, tanning and fist-pumping the night away, one castmember wasn’t really up for GTL. “I had to go home to recharge; Pauly is just not enough,” Vinny told MTV News , about his departure on Thursday night’s (January 11) episode. And although Ronnie assured us that fans of the hit MTV show would see a much “lighter side” of the crew this year, it seems Vinny had a hard time adjusting to life back in Seaside Heights. With little personal time between the Florence and New Jersey seasons, Vinny decided to pack his bags and head home to Staten Island for a breather. “We just came from Italy, and you know we all hit a wall at some point,” Vinny explained. “We all kind of reached our breaking point in some way because it was so hard, the schedule, you will see my personal problems happen in the first couple of episodes. I’m just the type of person, when I’m feeling like that, I need certain things.” “Jersey Shore” fans know that Pauly D and Vinny share a special bond, so how did his bro handle the Staten Islander’s exit? “We almost had a blowup when he left,” Pauly revealed. “You just expect him to be there; you don’t realize what you got till it’s gone, I’ll tell you that.” Mike “The Situation” added, “I know [Pauly] was genuinely upset. We were all upset, but Pauly took it to heart, I know that for a fact.” It wasn’t just Pauly, though. All of the housemates were affected by Vinny’s departure. “It hit home for a lot of us because we all had to kind of face our emotions, because Vinny’s the person that’s always our voice of reasoning and [now he] is saying, ‘I can’t take it anymore,’ ” JWoww explained. “This is a family, when you have … a brother or sister leave, it’s heartbreaking, it’s sad. You really do feel like something is missing in the house.” For continuing “Jersey Shore” coverage, be sure to check in with MTV’s Remote Control blog.
