Eva Green and Naomi Watts to make the Dark Knight Rise

The Internet is abuzz with rumors that two extremely skin-friendly babes have been cast in the sequel that may be called The Dark Knight Rises —juggalicious Eva Green as villainess Talia al Ghul and booberiffic blond Naomi Watts as reporter Vicki Vale. Now that rumored title seems doubly appropriate. But there’s also word on the streets that those roles might be played by equally eye-popping talent like Keira Knightley , Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel . Or even Charlotte Riley , Kate Mara or Gemma Arterton . So far, the rebooted Batman franchise hs included Mr. Skin favorites Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyllenhaal , both in the role of Rachel Dawes. And based on the contenders for this movie, they’re not trying to mess too much from the magic formula. So don’t be surprised to hear a little ping from the armor codpiece under Batman’s utility piece when the Dark Knight really rises.

Val Kilmer Passed on ‘Hardcore Pornography’ of Blue Velvet

Another fun Movieline Vault discovery : While discussing Batman Forever in 1995, Val Kilmer confessed he missed the boat on David Lynch’s Blue Velvet . ” ‘I was given [a copy of that script] because [at one point] I was involved with Dune ,’ he recalls. ‘It would have been my first job for damn near a year. So, Dave gave me the script and it was straight-out, hardcore pornography before page 30. I never finished it. I said, “Good luck, but I can’t do this.” It isn’t what he ended up making,’ he says, pointedly. ‘That movie, I would have done.'” Of course. [ The Vault ]

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Possibly Inching Ever-Closer to Playing The Riddler in Batman 3

Normally when a Batman casting rumor pops up, it can be discounted almost immediately. As in: No, Cher will most certainly not be playing Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s sequel to The Dark Knight . (Though Mary Louise-Parker would be great — just sayin’.) But this latest seems suspiciously real, if only because it’s not really saying anything.

Christopher Nolan Finds Meaning In ‘Superman’ Adaptation

‘Whether you’re doing a ‘Batman’ or ‘Superman’ film, it’s all about story first,’ ‘Inception’ director says. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Christopher Nolan Photo: MTV News Of the many accomplishments that director Christopher Nolan achieved with “Batman Begins” in 2005, one of the greatest involved his ability to craft a compelling comic book adaptation while maintaining a surprising level of realism. Nolan’s down-to-earth, non-superhero approach to the Batman mythos owed much thanks to the character’s lack of superpowers — but when he puts his stamp on Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment’s forthcoming “Superman” reboot, he’ll likely have to try a different approach with the invulnerable Man of Steel. As the producer of the upcoming “Superman” film, Nolan is already hard at work on the story alongside his “Dark Knight” collaborators Jonah Nolan and David S. Goyer, but the project remains so early in development that casting hasn’t even been considered yet. “I haven’t even thought about it, to be honest,” Nolan told MTV News during a recent press junket for “Inception,” his forthcoming thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio. “All of these things, whether you’re doing a ‘Batman’ or ‘Superman’ film, it’s all about story first. It’s all about figuring out exactly the tone and the meaning of the story and how you’re going to approach it. Casting comes later. All of those considerations come later.” Even if casting isn’t an immediate concern, Nolan already has plenty of history to look toward as he and his collaborators find the story for “Superman.” For Nolan himself, the filmmaker considers director Richard Donner’s first adaptation in 1978 as something to aspire to. “I was hugely struck by the Donner films in the ’70s when I was a kid,” he said. “In 1978, I saw [“Superman”] and it had such epic scope to it. It took on this incredible, iconic figure and gave that iconic figure an appropriate framing. It made quite an impression on me. It’s definitely one of my childhood touchstones of what epic cinema can be.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Inception.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . Idris Elba as James Bond, and 5 Other Roles That Could Benefit From Color-Blind Casting

The recent superhero boom has been a godsend for every young white guy in Hollywood, but what about the non-white actors who can’t even get an audition for the title roles in Thor or Captain America ? The buzz surrounding Donald Glover’s attempt to try out for Spider-Man is indicative of a wider problem: big action tentpoles are what traditionally launched black movie stars like Will Smith, but when those tentpoles are replaced by comic book adaptations, there are far fewer starring roles out there for anyone who isn’t a handsome white guy in his twenties. Can Hollywood think bigger? We’ve taken 6 iconic roles (both superhero and action hero) that have traditionally cast from a pool of white actors, and expanded that pool quite a bit. Here are our suggestions for casting directors who want to think outside the box:

Dark Knight Sequel Gets Release Date

A very excited Warner Bros. announced today that the long-awaited follow-up to The Dark Knight finally has a release date: July 20, 2012. The film doesn’t yet have a title, a cast, a plot, a director (though Christopher Nolan is widely assumed to be helming), or a format announcement (3D? IMAX ? Both?) but what would be the fun in divulging those? British tabloids need something to guess about . [ Box Office Mojo ]

Late Night Highlights: A Batman Showdown with Adam West and KFC’s Double Down with Stephen Colbert

The late night commentary on Conan’s big move to TBS has been disappointing, mostly because there has not been much of it. David Letterman is dark this week. Jimmy Fallon and Craig Ferguson are silent on the matter. And Jay Leno is so crestfallen by the news that his bandleader Kevin Eubanks is leaving , that he can only spend his monologue energy on jokes about cats parallel parking cars . Don’t worry though — George Lopez is excited enough for everyone. Click through for his latest batch of LOCO -themed material and the other highlights you missed last night while updating your bandleader resume .
