When The-Dream dropped by Tim Westwood‘s BBC radio show earlier today, we don’t think the R&B singer-songwriter expected that Rihanna’s “Umbrella” would become a topic of conversation. The host put the 1977 artist in the hot seat regarding his earnings on the 2007 track, and Terius reluctantly revealed that he made a pretty penny by … More » Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Idolator Discovery Date : 03/01/2012 16:31 Number of articles : 2

‘I hope we can do it justice,’ Welch says of her version of Drake’s song, taped at BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. By James Montgomery Florence Welch Photo: Gareth Cattermole/ Getty Images Perhaps it was inevitable, given the mutual admiration Drake and Florence Welch share, but last week, while the majority of you were overcoming turkey comas, Flo (and the Machine) appeared on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, where they turned in a stunning cover of Drizzy’s “Take Care.” “It’s three of my absolute favorite artists,” Welch said while introducing the track, referencing the fact that the song features vocals by not only Drake and Rihanna, but samples of Jamie XX’s remix of Gil Scott-Heron’s “I’ll Take Care of You.” “I hope we can do it justice.” And they did. Backed by a stirring string section, Florence and the Machine’s version of the song isn’t as dark and knotty as Drake’s original; instead, it’s ethereal and downright doleful, starting slow and sleepy but building to a towering crescendo, with Welch lamenting that she’s “loved and lost” while drums pound, keyboards pulse and the strings trill. It’s the kind of aching cover that leaves you wishing the two could actually collaborate on record, something that, in recent months, seemed a definite possibility. In the lead-up to the release of both Florence and the Machine’s Ceremonials and Drake’s Take Care, speculation swirled that the artists might make appearances on each other’s albums — especially since Welch had previously joined Drake onstage in London to sing vocals on “Fireworks.” But, as Welch told MTV News last month , they’ve yet to actually record anything together, thanks in no small part to their busy schedules. Then again, the door isn’t completely closed on a collaboration just yet. “We haven’t actually done any recording together,” Welch said. “Whenever I see Drake, we always just end up kind of hanging out, which is equally fun. … I think we’re both big fans of each other’s work. If we would have the time, it is something I would definitely like to do, but we’re both really busy.” Would you like to see a legit collabo between Florence and Drake? Let us know in the comments! Rihanna, 23, was dancing in a red handkerchief bikini when Alan Graham, 61, noticed her and drove over in his tractor to put a stop to things. An Irish farmer who had given Rihanna permission to use his grain field to film her new music video shut down the production on Monday and chastised the pop singer for her “inappropriate” wardrobe. “I have an ethos and I felt it was inappropriate,” Graham told the BBC. “I requested them to stop and they did.” Graham said he granted permission for Rihan
Iron & Wine, Christina Perri, Theophilus London join Bruno Mars on ‘Part 1′ album due November 8. By James Montgomery Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit Entertainment We already knew about Bruno Mars’ involvement in the upcoming “Breaking Dawn” soundtrack . But now — officially — we know who will be joining him. Theophilus London, the Joy Formidable, Iron & Wine, Christina Perri and the Noisettes are just some of the acts confirmed for the “Dawn” soundtrack, which hits stores on November 8 (10 days before “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” bows in theaters). The full track list was unveiled Monday (September 26) afternoon on the official “Twilight” Twitter account, confirming speculations that sprung up over the weekend, when a listing of artists and songs began making the rounds on various fansites . Work by “Twilight”-series composer Carter Burwell and actress Mia Maestro (she plays Carmen of the Denali Cover in the “Breaking Dawn” films) also shows up on the soundtrack, as do songs by Angus and Julia Young, the Features, the Belle Brigade and Cider Sky. All in all, there are 15 tracks on the album, and all — aside from a “Wedding Version” of Iron & Wine’s “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” (as any good Twilighter will tell you, the original version of the song appeared on the first “Twilight” soundtrack) and an updated take on Noisettes’ “Sister Rosetta” — are new. The “Breaking Dawn” soundtrack follows in the footsteps of the ultra-successful 2008 “Twilight” ‘track (which featured new songs from Paramore and Perry Farrell), ’09’s “New Moon” (which boasted a new track by Death Cab for Cutie and contributions from Thom Yorke and Lykke Li) and last year’s “Eclipse,” which packed in tunes from Muse, Florence and the Machine, Beck and Vampire Weekend. If we’ve learned anything over the years, it’s that Britney Spears occasionally loves wearing huge, diamond jewelery on her left ring finger. But that doesn’t mean she’s engaged people! Geez! The singer fueled the semi-annual Jason Trawick engagement rumors Friday when she stepped out in London with a HUGE ROCK! Peep it: Spears flaunts a giant ring and gets the rumor mill buzzing at BBC Radio 1. Look at that BLING! Although the two denied reports that Jason Trawick was planning to propose to the pop queen (again), you have to wonder if he will. It’s been a long, serious relationship at this stage, and if anyone’s familiar with her very complicated past and present life situation, it’s her former agent. Not yet, though. Upon closer inspection, while the ring is clearly mammoth and no doubt expensive as heck, it’s not an engagement ring. We don’t think. Look: Britney Spears wouldn’t rock a yellow engagement ring, right? [Photos: Fame Pictures]

What in every level of hell??? Authorities have arrested an 80-year-old man accused of imprisoning his two mentally challenged daughters and sexually abusing them for 41 years. The shocking arrest was made in the village of St. Peteram Hart in Austria after the daughters escaped after one allegedly knocked over her father when he tried to rape her. The women are described as having “mental deficiencies,” and the man denies abusing the women, now 53 and 45, beginning allegedly when they were 12 and 4. He is accused of beating and raping his daughters since 1970 and allowing them only minimal contact with the outside world – he even ordered them not to speak about their ordeal. Police said he threatened to kill the women with a pitchfork and a stick, according to the BBC and forced them to stay in the kitchen of the home they shared and made them sleep on a bench. The unnamed man is currently in prison on the charges and the women are in counseling. His wife and the mother of the children died three years ago and it is alleged that she too was abused by the suspect. Wow. The pictures you see here are of the house where all of this allegedly happened. Source
