Swedish House Mafia Tease Batch Of New Singles

Steve Angello tells MTV News that the famed Swedish trio just want to take a creative approach to dropping new material. By Akshay Bhansali Steve Angello Photo: Getty Images After impressive remixes of Swedish House Mafia ‘s last single, “Save the World,” by dance music acts like AN21 and Max Vangeli, Alesso, and Zedd, whose fiery mix MTV News premiered exclusively last month, the house music production trio of Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell and Steve Angello have so far teased only two new originals this summer. And really, only one of these new gems has been well-documented, starting with Axwell spinning the dark track at Club Papaya in Croatia in July. Sure, the in-demand collective has been busy touring, but save for Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso debuting their new single “Calling” on Friday (August 12) on the BBC’s “Essential Mix” with Pete Tong, it would seem the three Swedes have devoted their summer to performing rather than hitting the studio. When MTV News caught up with Steve Angello recently, though, he told us nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, Angello revealed, SHM have more than 15 songs ready to go, but the group is toying with how to release their new material. “This is the thing … we have a lot of records,” Angello confessed. “We have singles; we have all the material to make an album. But it’s like, do we want to stick with the traditional album ways or do we want to do something different? And I think, as Swedish House Mafia works, I think we do something different.” As for the aforementioned “dark” single Axwell played earlier at a live show, Angello couldn’t confirm whether it would be the trio’s next release. “It’s one of them. … It’s another record,” Angello said. “It’s pretty f—ed up, but it’s good energy!” In addition to working on their own material, fans of the three Swedes will be tickled to hear that they’ve also been producing records for two major pop stars. But, of course, they aren’t ready to reveal just who yet. “A lot of people came through this year,” Angello said. “After the success of, ‘One,’ and ‘Miami 2 Ibiza,’ we got hundreds of requests to work with people. We chose very few to work with. We’ve done some work with a very, very big artist. We’re producing [some of] another artist’s album. It’s been an amazing trip for us. I can’t tell anybody’s name yet.” While we couldn’t get names, MTV News did get another major piece of SHM scoop: Angello is also well into work on a solo album being put out through Interscope via his Size Records label. “I do have an album,” Angello revealed. “The last bit is the hard part because you have to decide what you want to do and choose what direction you want to take. I’ve finished 70 percent. I got a couple singles. I just haven’t picked ‘the one.’ ” Related Artists Swedish House Mafia Steve Angello

Amy Winehouse Autopsy Inconclusive

Further tests needed to determine cause of singer’s death on Saturday. By Gil Kaufman Amy Winehouse Photo: Rob Loud/ C3 Presents/ Front Row Center It could be several more weeks before we find out what caused singer Amy Winehouse ‘s death on Saturday at the age of 27. Police announced on Monday (July 25) that initial autopsy results were inconclusive and that additional toxicology tests were needed. According to The Associated Press, those toxicology screens could take two to four weeks to complete. Winehouse was found dead in bed at her Camden, England, apartment on Saturday afternoon, and initial reports indicate that no drugs were found in the flat. In 2008, Winehouse’s father, Mitch, revealed that years of smoking and drug-taking had resulted in his daughter suffering from the early stages of the incurable pulmonary ailment emphysema, which had scarred her lungs. Since rising to fame in 2006, Winehouse had struggled with a number of health issues and been hospitalized on a number of occasions for various ailments. Click for photos of Amy Winehouse’s life and career. She also struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, which resulted in Winehouse’s notoriously spotty live performance record , cemented in June by the cancellation of a planned European comeback tour after a disastrous gig in Belgrade . (Read one MTV News staffer’s account of an early Winehouse show in the Newsroom .) The coroner has adjourned the inquest into the singer’s death, which will allow Winehouse’s family to plan her funeral, which could take place as early as Tuesday. The coroner previously said that police have found no suspicious circumstances surrounding the Back to Black crooner’s death. Winehouse’s father, a cab driver-turned-lounge-singer, flew back to England on Sunday in the wake of his daughter’s death and visited her Camden apartment on Monday morning. According to BBC News , he thanked her fans — who have gathered in a vigil outside the building — for their support. “I can’t tell you what this means to us. It really is making this a lot easier for us,” he told the gathered mourners. “Amy was about one thing and that was love. Her whole life was devoted to her family and her friends and to you guys as well.” The singer’s mother, Janis, and brother, Alex, also visited the site to see the collection of flowers, cards and photos that Winehouse’s admirers have left. On Sunday, the family released a statement in which they said, “Our family has been left bereft by the loss of Amy, a wonderful daughter, sister, niece. She leaves a gaping hole in our lives. We are coming together to remember her and we would appreciate some privacy and space at this terrible time.” Will You Remember Winehouse More For Her Music Or Troubles? Tell Us on Facebook. J.K. Rowling Writing ‘A Lot’ Since Finishing ‘Harry Potter’

At ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2’ premiere, author says, ‘This feels like a new beginning to me.’ By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Danielle Genet J. K. Rowling Photo: MTV News After more than a decade onscreen, the “Harry Potter” franchise will end July 15. The cast and crew had a big, sob-inducing farewell Wednesday at the London premiere of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” Amidst the sad goodbyes and constant cheering of fans, MTV UK caught up with “Potter” scribe J.K. Rowling to ask about her experiences turning her novels into films. “Hundreds of people have been involved,” Rowling said. “There’s not one of them I don’t think was indispensible and phenomenal. The most talented groups of people you could’ve found, and I just love them. The idea I won’t be able to go down to Leavesden and visit anymore is just sad.” Though Rowling joked several times throughout the night that she would return to “Potter” — “You know what? Maybe I’ll just write another one,” she teased — she also said she has some other projects on the horizon. She was most likely referring to the same one she talked about in February, telling BBC News she was “writing hard.” “I’m writing, and I’ve done quite a lot since finishing ‘Harry,’ ” she said. “I also felt I wanted the last film out of the way before I made any moves on the publishing front. ‘Harry’ is so huge and I suppose my involvement with the world has still been quite intense. This feels like a new beginning to me.” Since being released, the books have sold more than 450 million copies, and the films have grossed about $6.37 billion. Rowling told MTV UK she didn’t start out writing expecting this sort of success, and that’s not the way she measures the success of her books: She measures it by the way it has affected her readers. “Nothing makes me prouder ever than to meet a child or the parent of a child who says he/she never read before ‘Harry Potter,’ ” Rowling said. “Nothing makes me prouder than that.” We’re streaming live from the red carpet at the New York premiere of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” on Monday, July 11, at 4:30 p.m. ET. Idris Elba: “Piers Morgan? Who’s That?” [AUDIO]

Read more here:

Who says the British don’t share a wicked sense of humor?  This past Tuesday, CNN journalist Piers Morgan and  Thor star Idris Elba were guests on  BBC Radio 5′s ‘The Daily Bacon’ hosted by Richard Bacon.  Seems Morgan  had a bone to pick with Elba concerning his wife, fellow journalist Celia Walden. In a previous interview Idris confessed that he thought Morgan’s wife was attractive, not knowing that she was dating him. No worries though–Morgan was just having fun.  It was all love afterwards as Elba and Morgan went on to chat about American television, and Elba’s upcoming second season of LUTHER (premiering on BBC One Tuesday, June 14th).  Sounds like the start of a beautiful new bromance.
