Megan Fox Donates ‘Love The Way You Lie’ Fee To Women’s Shelter

After appearing in Eminem and Rihanna video, the actress turned over cameo fee to Sojourn House. By James Dinh Megan Fox Photo: Michael Buckner/Getty Images Megan Fox’s role in Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie” video, featuring Rihanna, seems to have been more than just a cameo for the actress, who has donated her appearance fee to the Sojourn House, a shelter for abused women. According to Yahoo! Finance , Fox gave her undisclosed fee to Sojourn, which “provides battered women and their children a safe space to regroup, rebuild, and reestablish their self-esteem and lives.” The song is centered on the subject of domestic abuse. The Hollywood star filmed scenes with “Lost” actor Dominic Monaghan for the rapper’s “Love the Way You Lie” video premiering Thursday (August 5) on MTV at 9 p.m. ET/PT. While the concept of the video is still unknown, the on-camera couple reportedly got steamy during filming. The duo were snapped locking lips on a rooftop. “Joseph and I worked pretty closely together to make sure we got this right,” Eminem explained in a press release. Trying to make this tough subject work visually is a challenge. It was great to have Rihanna, Megan and Dominic onboard for this. They really brought it and made this video super-powerful.” The weighty subject matter was also a topic Rihanna felt needed to be addressed . “It was believable for us to do a record like that, but it was also something that needed to be done and the way he did it was so clever,” the singer said. “He pretty much just broke down the cycle of domestic violence and it’s something that a lot people don’t have a lot of insight on, so this song is a really, really powerful song and it touches a lot of people.” What do you think of Megan’s gesture? Tell us in the comments. Don’t forget to tune in to MTV on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET/PT for the premiere of Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie” video and check MTVNews.com for full coverage of the clip. Beach Boys’ Label Threatens Suit Over Katy Perry’s ‘California Gurls’

Threat comes after both writers of the original ‘California Girls’ praised Perry’s song. By Gil Kaufman Katy Perry Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ WireImage Katy Perry is having an epic summer thanks to her smash hit “California Gurls,” which has sold more than 3 million copies already and topped the singles charts for weeks. But the soon-to-be-wed pop star and Rolling Stone cover girl may end up sharing some of the proceeds from that track with the pop icons who first sang the praises of West Coast beauties. According to the New York Post , representatives for the Beach Boys are threatening to sue Perry for including the classic line “I wish they all could be California girls” in her tune. The line is lifted from the Boys’ 1965 rock classic “California Girls,” and the paper reported that publishing reps at the Boys’ Rondor Music have sent a letter to Perry’s label demanding that the original song’s writers, Mike Love and Brian Wilson, be given a writing credit on “Gurls” as well as a share of royalties. Spokespeople for Perry and the Beach Boys could not be reached for comment by MTV News at press time. An unnamed recording industry source reportedly told the paper: “Rondor Music has sent a letter to Capitol on behalf of Mike Love and Brian Wilson, saying Katy has cribbed one of the most famous lyrics in history, so Love and Wilson should be entitled to a writing credit and a portion of the royalties.” The iconic line is rapped by Snoop Dogg near the end of Perry’s song (“California girls, man/ I wish they all could be California Girls”), which, ironically, was recently praised by Love. “The subject matter is still in vogue — just ask Katy Perry. I think the part she did is pretty cool. There are a lot of writers on it, and I think it’s probably a stroke of genius to have the king of canine cool, Mr. [Snoop] Dogg, do his thing. But I think her creative part, her musical part, is pretty hooky. I think it brings the Beach Boys’ 1965 classic to mind, that’s for sure,” Love told Billboard. Wilson has called the song “infectious.” Sources reportedly told the Post that Wilson and Love asked Rondor to send the letter, but spokespeople for the musicians said it was Rondor’s decision. “Rondor owns the track and called Brian and Mike, saying they were going to complain. Brian likes Katy’s record and doesn’t know where the situation stands,” according to Wilson’s rep, while Love’s rep added, “Mike and Brian wrote the song … but any legal action is up to Rondor.” Related Photos Concept Art For Katy Perry’s ‘California Gurls’ Related Artists Katy Perry The Beach Boys

Have a Seat on Britain’s Longest Bench

Images from AJ This may be the world’s longest bench….and even if it isn’t, it sure looks like fun. Located along the beach in West Sussex, it is 324 metres (350 yards) long and could seat 300 people. Created out of thousands of slats made of reclaimed tropical hardwood, the bench dips down and around and onto the beach at different points. The multi-coloured bench ends at the East Beach Cafe , a jewel of an eco restaurant in Littlehampton which was designed by … Read the full story on TreeHugger

Jon Gosselin Supposedly Loses Weight!

Ripped, he’s not. But Jon Gosselin is slightly less fat! Allegedly. According to In Touch , when he hit beach in Ocean City, N.J., on July 8, “he looked like a new man.” If that’s true, how fat and out of shape was he beforehand? The dad of eight looked “toned, tanned and healthier than ever” (guess it’s all relative) while strolling the beach with his boring, bikini-clad girlfriend, Ellen Ross . “Jon’s made time for himself,” says a friend, which he apparently has. “Jon is doing whatever he can to ensure he’ll be around for his kids as long as possible.” All kidding aside, kudos to Jon Gosselin if that’s true. His days of heavy drinking, smoking and parading around with mediocre girls made for good gossip, but not a healthy lifestyle. Our one question for you, though … Jon Gosselin: Would you hit it?

Vienna Girardi Does Vegas, Promotes Team Vienna

What happened to that stuff about moving home to Florida? Looks like Vienna Girardi isn’t missing Jake Pavelka very much, nor does she have any intention of laying low or letting her 15 minutes of fame expire. Last weekend, The Bachelor star headed to the Sin City with her friends to celebrate her single status after her sham engagement to Jake unraveled. Vienna hosted a Single & Fabulous party Saturday at Tao Beach, where she even tossed out Team Vienna tank tops and offered shots to partygoers. Hopefully she kept the drunken crying to a minimum. SINGLE AND FABULOUS : Well, at least the first part . Interestingly, her crew that night included Jesse Csincsak, who Deanna Pappas picked a few seasons ago on The Bachelorette and broke up with soon after. “He was just giving her advice,” a source says. Dude certainly knows what she’s going through, although only one of them can be frequently seen in MySpace pics wearing next to nothing on Spring Break. Later that night, Vienna and her posse continued partying over at Lavo, where she kindly offered free shots to all of the bachelorettes in the house. No word if she has been in contact with Lee Smith , the ex-boyfriend who says he was putting it to her while she was still engaged to Jake Pavelka.

CBS Continues to Defend Obama Vacation Time With Bush Comparison

Following a report on Saturday’s CBS Evening News , in which White House correspondent Chip Reid defended President Obama’s Maine vacation with a comparison to President Bush’s vacation time, Monday’s Early Show took the same approach as correspondent Michelle Miller reported: But it’s not just where and when presidents travel, it’s how often. Ronald Reagan took 349 vacation days at his California ranch during his eight years in office. In his first year and a half as President, George W. Bush vacationed 96 days. Over that same time period, President Obama has taken 36 days. On Saturday, Reid had similarly noted: “Whatever criticism there may be of the President’s vacation choices, he’s spent 33 days on vacation in his first 18 months. His predecessor, Bush W. Bush, spent 96 in the same period.” When Obama vacationed on Martha’ Vineyard in August of 2009 , Reid highlighted how it helped the local economy: “One thing that’s going to give a huge boost to the economy is all the Obama paraphernalia…t-shirts, it’s baseball caps and magnets and coffee mugs and glasses. And restaurants are selling the ‘Baracko Taco.’ Bars are selling ‘Ale to the Chief.’ And all of it is selling like crazy.” In the Monday Early Show report, Miller cited liberal presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, who further defended Obama’s decision to vacation in Maine, rather along the tourist-starved Gulf coast: “Sure, people might wish that Obama had gone to the Gulf, but had he gone to the Gulf, now people would have said he was going there for politics.” Goodwin went on to declare: “I think presidential vacations are essential. It allows a President to relax, to replenish his energies, to think. Something they sometimes can’t do enough of in Washington.” At that point, Miller observed: “Despite any criticism, presidential vacations leave indelible images.” Goodwin chimed in: “JFK sailing is forever in our mind, that rugged JFK.” Miller concluded: “Only time will tell how President Obama’s hike in his dress shoes will compare with President Nixon’s similar walk on the beach.” Following Miller’s report, fill-in co-hosts Jeff Glor and Erica Hill shared their thoughts on the presidential vacation controversy. Glor sympathized: “I mean, the camera’s always on….I mean even when he’s there, they’re there following from spot to spot. So, you’re never really off that job.” Hill agreed: “No, no. And that kind of comes with the territory.” Glor then remarked on the First Family’s choice of getaways: “And not quite as hot there. Only high 80s, I think.” Hill added: “Oh, it’s so relaxing. Plus that nice breeze off of the Atlantic, it’s fine.”    Here is a full transcript of the Early Show’s July 19 report: 7:17AM TEASE ERICA HILL: Plus, why the first family is under fire for enjoying a little R&R. [FOOTAGE OF OBAMA EATING ICE CREAM] HILL: The ice cream gets you every time. 7:30AM TEASE HILL: Speaking of vacations, the first family spent a fun-filled weekend in Maine, a little mini vacation, but their time in the sun is stirring up plenty of controversy. So we’ll take a closer look at that as well. 7:46AM SEGMENT ERICA HILL: President Obama catching a little more flack from critics this morning. But not for his policies this time, it’s for taking a family vacation in Maine. CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller reports. MICHELLE MILLER: The First Family returned to the White House Sunday from a weekend vacation, a getaway that included hiking, boating, and eating ice cream in quaint Bar Harbor, Maine. [ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: First Family’s Maine Event; President’s Getaway Draws Criticism] UNDENTIFIED WOMAN [BAR HARBOR ICE CREAM SHOP]: I think everybody needs a weekend off to recharge and get some ice cream. MILLER: Given the ongoing crisis in the Gulf, the President’s weekend escape received a good share of criticism. DORIS KEARNS GOODWIN [PRESIDENTIAL HISTORIAN]: Sure, people might wish that Obama had gone to the Gulf, but had he gone to the Gulf, now people would have said, he was going there for politics. MILLER: Questioning presidential vacations is a time-honored tradition. The Clintons frequently sailed off of Martha’s Vineyard. But after polling the public, they switched to middle-America-friendly Wyoming. George Bush senior took heat for golfing in Kennebunkport, Maine as troops were deployed to the Persian Gulf for the Iraq war. But it’s not just where and when presidents travel, it’s how often. Ronald Reagan took 349 vacation days at his California ranch during his eight years in office. In his first year and a half as President, George W. Bush vacationed 96 days. Over that same time period, President Obama has taken 36 days. GOODWIN: I think presidential vacations are essential. It allows a President to relax, to replenish his energies, to think. Something they sometimes can’t do enough of in Washington. MILLER: Despite any criticism, presidential vacations leave indelible images. GOODWIN: JFK sailing is forever in our mind, that rugged JFK. MILLER: Only time will tell how President Obama’s hike in his dress shoes will compare with President Nixon’s similar walk on the beach. Michelle Miller, CBS News, New York. HILL: That may be the strangest thing, taking a hike in dress shoes. Out of all of this, all the criticism aside, it’s not very comfortable. You could slip very easily. JEFF GLOR: But there’s the thing, I mean, the camera’s always on. HILL: Always there. GLOR: I mean even when he’s there, they’re there following from spot to spot. So, you’re never really off that job. HILL: No, no. And that kind of comes with the territory, which- GLOR: Which he knew that. HILL: Which everybody – which everybody knows going in. GLOR: They all knew that. HILL: It’s true. GLOR: And not quite as hot there. Only high 80s, I think. HILL: Oh, it’s so relaxing. Plus that nice breeze off of the Atlantic, it’s fine. GLOR: Yes, with dress shoes.

Mel Gibson Tapes: Evidence of Tampering, Editing By Oksana Grigorieva?

His vile rants have forever altered people’s perception of him, but Mel Gibson’s lawyers claim the now-infamous tapes of his outbursts were tampered with. The actor’s legal team says it has hard evidence that the four tapes (and counting) Oksana Grigorieva secretly recorded were tampered with and edited. If true, it’s still Mel ranting like a sexist pig , making death threats and racial slurs, and demanding to be orally serviced before burning down her house. But it may make the tapes inadmissible in a court of law. The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department will have to authenticate the Mel Gibson tapes before handing over the domestic violence case to the D.A.’s Office. That could take some time. Gibson faces investigation by authorities for allegedly attacking Oksana Grigorieva – while she carried their daughter no less. Mel’s lawyers deny he physically attacked Oksana in any way, and will present evidence to the Sheriff’s Department that the tapes have been altered.

Teresa Giudice Laughs Off Danielle Staub Lawsuit

Following his client’s confrontation with Teresa Giudice and other Real Housewives of New Jersey on this week’s explosive episode , the attorney for Danielle Staub says he plans on filing a lawsuit. Along with assault and battery charges , the lawyer says he’ll seek damages for “defamation of character.” To this assertion, Giudice has the following response: HAHA! “Don’t make me laugh. I think she’s defamed her own reputation all by herself,” Giudice told Popeater yesterday, clearly referring to Staub’s history of drug use, prostitution, sex tape production and overall lunacy. Unlike Staub, Giudice is aware that filing a restraining order against a reality TV co-star is more ridiculous than any defense of Mel Gibson. These women are paid to interact with one another in front of the camera. They don’t just choose to do so – they profit from the confrontations! “Believe me, if we could get a restraining order against a cast member, Danielle would have had four against her already,” Teresa said . “I never threatened her. She, however, has been on camera threatening me, stalking me and even practicing doing me harm.” Meanwhile, while viewers may claim to be be disgusted by these women, the ratings say otherwise: Tuesday’s episode set a record for Bravo, becoming the highest-rated non-finale of the series. A total of 3.29 million fans tuned in.
