‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’: Vampires Wanted, By Kurt Loder

Third time’s not the charm. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in “Eclipse” Photo: Summit “Eclipse” might be as good as the “Twilight” films are going to get. The main actors have settled comfortably into their roles in this third installment of the franchise. Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed and Ashley Greene, the more interesting of the home-team vampires, have a welcome new prominence, and Robert Pattinson even has a scene in which he displays a twinge of character-development. The movie also has some actual action, as everyone must know by now — a big vampires-versus-vampires-versus-werewolves battle sequence at the end of the picture. However, having imposed something like narrative clarity on the story, new director David Slade is still stuck with the story — which, deriving as it does from the paceless goop of Stephenie Meyer’s books, and having been wrestled into a script by Melissa Rosenberg, is a threadbare quilt of pre-teen romantic clich

‘Eclipse’ Director David Slade Reveals Kristen Stewart’s Deleted Scenes

‘There’s a lovely scene between Angela and Bella where they’re just two girls getting along,’ filmmaker says of possible ‘Eclipse’ DVD bonuses. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz David Slade Photo: MTV News Last November, “New Moon” director Chris Weitz told us that the DVD release of the second film in the “Twilight” franchise would deliver 20 minutes of deleted footage for hungry fans. But when the disc dropped in March, no such scenes were included on virtually any available version . Weitz eventually copped to the mistake, but “Twilight” fans might remain wary about promises of deleted scenes for the DVD of “Eclipse.” So approach director David Slade’s statements with both the usual enthusiasm and abundant caution, because he’s promised MTV News that the DVD will definitely contain deleted scenes — and at least two will feature Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan. “There’s a lovely scene between Angela and Bella where they’re just two girls getting along and they’re just talking about girl stuff, about jealousy,” said Slade of the two high school friends. “Bella’s so completely and utterly wrapped up in all of this stuff — that Angela has no idea about — [and Bella] is blind to the basic human stuff in front of her. It’s a lovely scene, and I’m sure it will be on the DVD. It just stopped the film dead. The film had a pace and it just stopped dead.” Indeed, there is very little in “Eclipse” of Bella in her high school setting: one or two scenes in the cafeteria, a brief graduation scene, and not much else. Rather, the movie focuses on the Bella-Edward-Jacob love triangle and the growing threat Victoria and her army of newborn vampires pose to the community. With a film that runs just over two hours, a director is simply forced to make tough choices. “It was one of those things we ended up reluctantly removing, but it will be there for later, for prosperity,” Slade said of the scene. Aside from Bella and Angela’s conversation, Slade admitted that not much was left on the cutting-room floor. “There’s not much fat,” he said. But there is a touching scene between Bella and her father that fans can get excited to see. “We did this one scene of Charlie just telling Bella how proud he is of her, which was wonderful and really touching,” Slade said. “But again, it just kind of stopped you.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Robert Pattinson Says Bella And Jacob’s Relationship Is ‘Easier’

‘Edward’s got to remember, or learn, how to be a normal 17-year-old,’ ‘Eclipse’ star says of love triangle. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News If you pay attention to the tabloids, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are either about to get engaged, or one “Twilight” co-star has gone ahead and dumped the other. It’s all too silly to pay attention to, and it proves how complicated it is for RPattz and KStew to have a relationship of any kind while so fully in the public eye. And the relationship of their fictional alter egos, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan , isn’t any easier. He was transformed into a deadly vampire in 1918; she’s a normal, accident-prone high school girl growing up in the Pacific Northwest. You can see why Pattinson might think Jacob Black is in many ways a better fit for Bella than Edward is. No matter that Black is a shape-shifting werewolf. “Their relationship is so much easier, Bella and Jacob, because he’s just a normal kid,” Pattinson told MTV News. “Edward’s got to remember, or learn, how to be a normal 17-year-old, because he’s never bothered.” As Pattinson describes it, Edward spent the first two movies in the vampire franchise remaining largely aloof, even going so far as to leave Bella in “New Moon,” deciding that she’d be better off without him. All that changes in “Eclipse,” and Edward has to play some serious cultural catch-up. It’s anything but easy. “[T]he whole thing is him having to accept the consequences of [being with Bella], which means catching up to the same pace of every other 17-year-old in the contemporary world, emotionally and intellectually and everything, and realizing he’s quite a long way behind,” Pattinson said. Does RPattz have a point about Edward and Bella, or is he just being humble? Share your analyses in the comments. We’ll be

Chris Paul Recalls Having The ‘X-Factor’ On ‘When I Was 17′

New Orleans Hornets star and his high school friends called their crew the X-Factor and even had hoodies made. By MTV News staff Chris Paul Photo: MTV News Seven years before he made his third NBA All-Star team, five years before he played for the U.S. in the Olympics, and three years before he won the NBA’s Rookie of the Year Award, Chris Paul was just a 17-year-old high school kid who enjoyed hanging out with his friends as much as shooting hoops. OK, maybe not as much — Paul was named North Carolina’s Mr. Basketball during his senior year, after all. But as we learn in the upcoming episode of MTV’s “When I Was 17,” the New Orleans Hornets point guard has as many memories of chilling with his pals as he does about raining 3’s over their heads. And not all of those memories come off looking so cool years later. Case in point: the crew he and his friends created. “We had a little crew called the X-Factor,” Paul revealed. The group was comprised mostly of football players, with the 6-foot-tall Paul contributing his fast feet, if not bulk. “We felt like we needed something to set ourselves apart, so we had jackets made,” he said. “Then going down the sleeve it said ‘X-Factor.’ ” The sweatshirts were white with mint-green graphics. There were hand-drawn, comic book-style musclemen placed here and there, a photo silkscreened on the back and a quote from Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Paul and his boys thought they were pretty cool. Paul’s brother CJ was less than impressed. “I just remember Chris came home, had a hoodie that said ‘X-Factor’ on it,” CJ laughed. “I thought they were very lame.” But to this day, Paul remains proud of his crew and their gear. “There’s always going to be haters,” he said. “But I think they were more envious, because whatever they were a part of would never be bigger and better than the X-Factor.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Chris Paul, Pitbull and Vanessa Minnillo — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. First, we see Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) being pursued through the forest by Jasper. Shot 25 : The wolf pack is back and not looking too pleased. Shot 32 : Shirtless Jacob, longing Bella. Shot 33 : More battle, and a quick glimpse at the Volturi . Shot 34 : Edward and Bella embracing. Shot 35 : “I’ll protect you,” Edward tells Bella. “No matter what.” Shot 36 : The Victoria-in-a-tree sequence, with Edward knocking it over a ravine . Twilight’s Breaking Dawn Finally Found “THE MAN”

The hit movie Twilight has a new director.  Summit entertainment has finally found the best man for the project. Winner for the Best Director in Oscar for the Movie Dreamgirls, Bill Condon is buzzed to be the first choice to create Breaking Dawn to the big screen, according to Entertainment Weekly. Summit Entertainment is also intending to split up fourth instalment into two films in which the book is comprised with 756 pages.  With the first part focusing on Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) marriage and pregnancy, and part two following her transition from mortal to vampire. Considered the series’s most difficult novel to adapt because of its graphic birthing scenes, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg recently told Film.com she doesn’t foresee the final Twilight film being any less teen friendly. “You don’t sacrifice story by cutting language. Nor do you sacrifice story by showing less blood or gore,” she said. “There are some movies that wouldn’t play at PG-13, like The Hangover, but this is just not one of them for me…If you’re capturing character, emotion, and emotional journey, you’re OK.” Before Breaking Dawn hits the box office, The Twilight Saga’s third film, Eclipse, hits theaters June 30.
