Well, we knew the day would come when the next generation of Duggars would follow Jim Bob's lead and run for public office. We just didn't think the first one to throw his hat in the ring would be only a few months out of his teens. For a long time, it looked as though Josh Duggar would enter the political arena, but a handful of sex scandals derailed his career while he was still in the lobbyist stage. And so, Josh is in exile (read: selling used cars in rural Arkansas), and it's his brother Jedidiah who's taken up the mantel of public service. This week, 20-year-old Jed announced that he's running for a seat in the Arkansas House of Representatives. The election is still a year away, but thanks to Jed's status as a member of reality TV's most controversial family, his campaign is already gaining a lot of attention. Take a look: 1. Jed! Life? Jed’s In Favor of It To the surprise of absolutely no one, Jed is vehemently pro-life. He threw “100%” in there, so it’s safe to assume he opposes abortion even in cases of rape, incest, or medical issues that might threaten the mother’s life. Back in June, Joe Duggar and Kendra Caldwell announced that they were expecting baby #2 to be a girl . Well, the long wait is over! Kendra and Joe have welcomed their newborn into the world! Us Weekly reports that on Saturday, November 2, Kendra Caldwell gave birth to the newest Duggar grandchild. They ushered the sweet little girl into the world at 5:33 AM. The precious newborn is named Addison Renee. At birth, she weighed 7 pounds and 12.5 ounces and measured 20.5 inches in length. Joseph and Kendra released a joint statement to share the happy news. “Addison Renee has made us a family of four,” the couple gushed on Monday. “And,” they continued, “we are already so in love with her!” “She made a quick arrival in the early hours of the morning,” the couple noted, “and has already melted our hearts.” Joe and Kendra were sure to acknowledge that they weren’t the only ones welcoming the little girl to the family. “We know Garrett is going to be a great big brother,” the couple affirmed. In keeping with their brand, the couple expressed: “Children are each a special gift from God.” Their statement concluded: “And we are so happy our newest blessing is here.” Back in April, Joe and Kendra confirmed that they were expecting. “We are ready to double the fun at our house!” the couple shared excitedly. They expressed: “Being parents has already proven to be a greater joy than we had hoped or imagined.” “We love getting to parent together,” Joe and Kendra added. In the statement in April, Joe and Kendra continued: “And are loving every moment and milestone.” “We are very happy that our little family will welcome a new addition later this year,” they announced. “Children really are a blessing from God!” they proclaimed. Now they have two blessings in their household. So cute! Kendra gave birth to little Garrett just 17 months ago. In June of 2018, the couple put out a statement about how thrilled they were to become first-time parents. “No matter how many times we’ve experienced the joy of babies born in our families,” their statement began. The couple continued: “There’s nothing comparable to the joy in our hearts today!” “Children truly are a gift from God,” they said that time, too. “We are so thankful for his safe arrival and this new journey as parents.” Even as recently as October, Kendra and Joe predicted that adding a second baby would be easy . “We’re kind of already in that napping, changing diapers groove with Garrett still, so I think it will be just adding another [to that],” Kendra guessed. “We’ll both be busy, I guess,” Kendra acknowledged. “All hands will be tied up taking care of little ones, but there are always challenges.” “[Our son] can’t do much himself, so he’s going to need a lot of help,” she noted. “But we’re excited about this new chapter.” Fans are excited for the couple to discover that having two children is much harder than simply double the workload of one child. The Duggars in the midst of a mini-baby boom. Just last month, rebellious cousin Amy Duggar welcomed her first child . Back in June, Jessa Duggar welcomed her third . Currently, Josiah Duggar’s wife, Lauren Swanson is pregnant with her first child. B lack women are thriving in the realm of entrepreneurship despite the obstacles they face when it comes to securing capital for their business ventures. Research shows that although less than one percent of Black women entrepreneurs receive venture capital funding, they are the fastest-growing group of business owners in the country. Hair care entrepreneur Muhga Eltigani is one of the many female founders making power moves in business. According to Inc. , the NaturAll Club founder recently became one of about 50 Black women in the country to raise $1 million in funding. (@Inc) October 12, 2019 Eltigani founded NaturAll Club in 2015. The natural hair care subscription platform delivers fresh handmade hair products on a monthly basis. Some of the products include Fresh Avocado Deep Conditioner, Jamaican Black Castor Oil Growth Serum, and a handmade flaxseed gel. Last year Eltigani won $500,000 in a startup competition but decided to turn down the prize because it would have required her to move her Philadelphia-based company to Buffalo, New York. She wanted to wait for an opportunity that was in alignment with her brand. Her patience paid off and she received an investment from New Voices Fund CEO Richelieu Dennis . Dennis initially made a $1 million investment and after plans for Eltigani’s company grew, he decided to invest another $4 million. Dennis is dedicated to ensuring that women of color entrepreneurs have access to venture capital funding. “The facts about investments in women of color entrepreneurs, particularly black women, are astonishing,” Dennis told the news outlet. “Entrepreneurship among women of color has increased more than 320 percent, but less than 1 percent of those women receive access to the funding needed to sustain and grow their businesses. This is unacceptable.” Several individuals are stepping up to address the funding gap for Black women. Actress Keshia Knight Pulliam teamed up with entrepreneur Arian Simone to launch the Fearless Fund ; a $5 million venture capital fund to support startups created by women of color.
