In 2010, a team of pranksters led by Dutch performance artist Iepe B. T. Rubingh dumped 500 liters of paint on an intersection in Berlin, turning passing traffic into unwitting paintbrushes. The piece of guerilla street art was entitled “Painting Reality.” According to Rubingh, the paint was water-based and environmentally friendly. via Architizer & NPR Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Laughing Squid Discovery Date : 13/07/2011 21:24 Number of articles : 2

RZA Teases Unreleased ODB Material

‘When you got an estate, it’s so much paperwork and red tape and legal stuff you gotta deal with,’ Wu-Tang mastermind says of late friend’s music. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Adam Murphy RZA Photo: MTV News Wu-Tang Clan ain’t nothin’ ta eff wit, and neither are the RZA ‘s beats. While in Berlin promoting his new headphone line Chambers by Rza, the Wu producer told MTV News that he has given beats to a number of hip-hop artists, including Nas, Busta Rhymes and Ludacris, as well as his cousin and Wu-partner GZA for his Liquid Swords 2 album. “Me and GZA talked about doing Liquid Swords part 2, a sequel. We talked about it for a while,” RZA said about the follow-up to GZA’s 1996 album. “We actually started a little and then we pulled back based on scheduling, based on my movie.” RZA’s love affair with Hollywood is no secret. As an actor, Bobby Digital has appeared in “American Gangster” alongside Russell Crowe and has recently been cast in “G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes.” RZA has also been hard at work directing “The Man With the Iron Fists,” a movie set in feudal China which will star Russell Crowe, Pam Grier and Lucy Liu. “The movie has taken me out of the loop of music. But what I have been doing, I’ve been going to studios and inviting people to my studio. So I went to the studio with Luda and I emptied beats from my beat machine for him. Whether he use it or not is up to him, but I just been emptying out my beat machines,” RZA said before revealing more of his collaborative hopefuls. “I emptied out some beats on Busta, I emptied out some beats on Nas, emptied out some beats for [Ghostface Killah] and for Wu-Tang Clan — just sent them 20 beats a few weeks ago.” Though he is very passionate about making movies at the moment, RZA knows music is what got him where he is today. “I really want to put a lot of my energy into film, but I know that I got here because of music and I know people dig my music. And I’m like, ‘Why not put the music out there too?’ ” Judging from his activity, it is a safe bet that fans can hear a lot of new RZA music in the near future, but anyone expecting to hear collaborations between the producer and his cousin, the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard, shouldn’t get their hopes up. While the Abbot does confirm that he has plenty of unreleased Ol’ Dirty material, releasing those tunes are quite difficult. “That’s a very tricky situation, because ODB has passed and he has an estate,” he said. “When you got an estate, it’s so much paperwork and red tape and legal stuff you gotta deal with. I tried to put out a song last year called ‘Dirt’s the Boogie,’ and they threatened me with an injunction and I wrote the lyrics to the song. Made the beat, wrote the lyrics and Dirty just performed it.” Instead of holding onto the work, though, RZA is contemplating leaving the unheard recordings to Dirty’s son when the time is right. “I will tell the fans, I do have a few 2-inch reels of material nobody has but me. I don’t know what I’ll do with it,” he said. “Maybe in time I’ll just give it to his son, I don’t know.” Do you want to hear RZA’s ODB tapes? Let us know in the comments! Parental Notification Dominates Testimony At Hearing On Teen Health

More here:

Yesterday, the Legislature’s Program Review and Investigations Committee heard significant testimony on parental notification for minors seeking abortions at its public hearing on teen health. What You Need To Know About New FDA Sunscreen Rules The Family Institute of Connecticut played a key role in arranging this first-ever hearing on parental notification. Sen. Michael McLachlan (R-Danbury) testified about parental notification. He observed that Connecticut legislators want parental notification for teen tanning but not for teen abortions. “Connecticut is fifth in the nation for teen abortions. Connecticut’s teen abortion rate is fifty-five percent higher than the national average,” McLachlan stated. “Parental notification crosses the boundary between pro-life and pro-choice… parental notification is a reasonable expectation of this legislature,” he added. Legislators also heard heart-wrenching testimony from the directors of crisis pregnancy centers, who counsel teens considering abortion on a daily basis. 7 Top Tips To Alleviate Leg Cramps “Parental notification is a common-sense protection for Connecticut’s youth,” stated FIC Executive Director Peter Wolfgang. “Over thirty-six states, including Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania have laws requiring parental involvement in a minor’s decision to have an abortion. If a school nurse can’t administer aspirin to a minor without a parent’s consent, it’s just common sense that the parent should be involved in a child’s decision to undergo a surgical procedure like abortion,” stated Wolfgang. “Currently, Connecticut law deprives teens of the benefit of guardianship when faced with the decision whether to obtain an abortion. It is not a decision that teens should make alone,” he added. “The lack of a parental notification law creates a loophole that is exploited by human traffickers and statutory rapists,” stated Wolfgang. In 2008, a West Hartford man, Adam Gault, was arrested for abducting a 13-year old girl and holding her captive as his sex slave for over a year. In the course of her captivity, Gault impregnated the girl and had her brought to the Planned Parenthood in West Hartford for an abortion. “If Connecticut had a parental notification law, Adam Gault would have been apprehended much sooner,” commented Wolfgang. “Right now, human traffickers and statutory rapists can cover up their crimes by obtaining abortions for their victims. Knowingly or not, Planned Parenthood aids and abets criminals like Adam Gault in covering up their unspeakable offenses,” he added. “Raymond Bechard’s new book, The Berlin Turnpike: A True Story of Human Trafficking in America, has drawn significant attention to the human trafficking of minors in Connecticut. Passing a parental notification law is an important step towards combating this problem and increasing scrutiny on human traffickers,” elaborated Wolfgang. “We also offer a special thanks to Sen. John Kissel (R-Enfield). It was Sen. Kissel who first suggested the idea that led to yesterday’s hearing at FIC’s February 3rd legislative breakfast. It was his good advice that led to FIC’s biggest ever pro-active victory, a public hearing on parental notification,” concluded Wolfgang. Zoe Kravitz In ASOS: On Best Friend Jay-Z & Uncomfortable “It Girl” Title [PHOTOS]

Here is the original post:

Zoe Kravitz covers ASOS magazine’s July 2011 issue. Inside, she talks the “it girl” label that follows her everywhere, struggling to be best friends with Jay-Z, her parents’ style and discipline, and her latest films! She may be New York rock royalty, but the actress is flea market-loving geek at heart. On being labeled an “it-girl”: “All that ‘it-girl’ sh*t makes me kind of uncomfortable. I’m only at the beginning of my career, but I feel successful in that I haven’t sold out in any way, shape or form. I feel good about the choices I’ve made, and I don’t feel like I’ve let go of any of my values. Fame has become this obsession for people, which kind of creeps me out.” On Jay-Z: “I’d met Jay a few times, and then he asked me to be in his video for ‘I Know.’ After that we became really good friends and now he’s one of my favorite people. It sounds so weird when you say it because he’s f***ing Jay-Z! But what’s so weird is that he’s such a cool guy that sometimes I wish he wasn’t Jay-Z so we could hang out all day long and walk around and talk sh*t because I love him.” On being inspired by her mom, Lisa Bonet: “She walked away from being famous, because she didn’t really care about it. She is the most true artist I have met. She doesn’t change for anybody. I see her in front of people, in interviews, at home alone at five in the morning making collages, or in her garden, and I admire her so much. And that fact that she’s my mom is just so cool!” On her parent’s style: “I used to be a little embarrassed by how she and my dad would dress, but now I steal their clothes all the time. My dad had totally taken my Cat Stevens t-shirt, but it’s OK, I have his Black Flag one and that’s amazing. And my mom…There’s a little vintage store where she lives…She [donated] a bunch of [her] stuff while I was away and I went there when I got back and bought five of her things. Out of everything in the store, I’d bought my mother’s things.” On her parents’ discipline: “My dad was brought up very old school, very strict – ‘Yes, ma’am, yes sir.’ So he’s wearing leather pants and a boa, but he would be like, ‘Did you do your chores today?’ Or, ‘That dress is too short!’ [Or,] ‘Yes, there’s a party going on with Mick Jagger and some models, but it’s your bedtime.’” READ MORE BELOW THE GALLERY! On her breakthrough role in the Berlin Film Festival favorite “Yelling to The Sky”: “That was a really crazy, amazing experience. It was my first leading role, so it was a real challenge for me as an actor. It was very low budget, we shot it in 18 days, and it was not luxurious, but it was art. The heart and soul that went into making that film was wonderful and I’m proud to be a part of it.” On filming “X-Men: First Class”: “I feel like sometimes if you do a film with ‘movie stars’ there’s all this drama and superiority, but X-Men was not like that at all. We were living in London for four months and it was like X-Men summer camp, so we all hung out at each other’s houses after filming, went out to pubs… lived in Notting Hill, right by Portobello. I had about a month off when I first arrived in London, and I was like, “Can you send me to work please, because I’m spending all my money flea-market shopping!” On her band Elevator Fight : “Having a band is great, because with acting there are long periods of time out when you’re not doing anything, and I don’t like just sitting around, I go crazy. We found this house in the suburbs of Pennsylvania and did [the album] in eight days. Drank a lot of whisky and ate a lot of pizza and stayed up ’til 7am every day. We smelt so bad by the end, but I’m very happy with it. I don’t know what’s going to happen next, we don’t have a record deal, but we’re playing it by ear.” Zoe Kravitz Smokes A Cig, Shows Off Abs For Wonderland Mag [PHOTOS] Zoe Kravitz Debuts Two-Tone Hair At Tribeca Film Festival [PHOTOS]
