Phil Robertson Suspension From Duck Dynasty: Right or Wrong?

Phil Robertson has been suspended indefinitely from A&E’s Duck Dynasty amid the intense backlash over his recent anti-gay comments in GQ. The family patriarch is famously outspoken and never affair to ruffle feathers (excuse the pun), but these remarks were particularly eyebrow-raising. Many were offended, but others are attacking A&E, saying Phil Robertson’s anti-gay comments are merely statements of his religious and personal beliefs. Phil Robertson Suspension, Anti-Gay Backlash Sarah Palin was one of many fans to take to social media in response, charging that the Duck Dynasty star’s suspension is an attack on freedom of speech: “Free speech is an endangered species. The ‘intolerants’ hatin’ and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us.” Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal also voiced support for his embattled constituent: “Phil Robertson and his family are great citizens of the State of Louisiana.” “The politically correct crowd is tolerant of all viewpoints, except those they disagree with. I don’t agree with quite a bit of stuff I read in magazine interviews or see on TV.” “In fact, come to think of it, I find a good bit of it offensive. But I also acknowledge that this is a free country and everyone is entitled to express their views.” “In fact, I remember when TV networks believed in the First Amendment. It is a messed up situation when Miley Cyrus gets a laugh, and Phil Robertson gets suspended.” Duck Dynasty: Phil Robertson Under Attack Over Anti-Gay Comments Many fans of the series took to Twitter to voice similar thoughts, but juts as social media users expressed relief that A&E took action against the star. GLAAD praised A&E’s decision to suspend Robertson indefinitely (though he may still appear in already recorded Duck Dynasty Season 5 episodes). “What’s clear is that such hateful anti-gay comments are unacceptable to fans, viewers, and networks alike,” said GLAAD spokesperson Wilson Cruz. “By taking quick action and removing Robertson from future filming, A&E has sent a strong message that discrimination is neither a Christian nor an American value.” The slew of Twitter reactions made Phil Robertson a trending topic on Wednesday, as major uproar ensued following the release of his GQ interview: At the same time, the pro-Phil hashtag #IStandWithPhil gained popularity. Among other things, Robertson called homosexuality illogical and cited Bible scripture to compare homosexuality to bestiality, adultery and prostitution. “It seems like, to me, a vagina – as a man – would be more desirable than a man’s anus, that’s just me,” he said. “I’m just thinking: There’s more there!” “She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.” Phil Robertson Slams Gay People Robertson, asked what kinds of behavior he considers sinful, added: “Start with homosexual behavior and morph out from there … bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.” Before the suspension, Phil issued a statement in which he said: “I myself am a product of the ’60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior.” “My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together.” “However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity.” “We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.” VOTE: Should Phil Robertson be suspended for his comments?   Yes, obviously. He was way over the line. Maybe. I can see why A&E decided to. No way. He’s just stating his opinions, people! View Poll »

Carrie Underwood to Mean People: Find Jesus!

The Sound of Music on NBC is over. But the sounds of critics across the online universe continue to grow louder. Following a live stage performance of this iconic musical Thursday night, Carrie Underwood took Twitter on Friday and responded to those who have lashed out over her portrayal of Maria. “Plain and simple: Mean people need Jesus,” the former American Idol champ wrote. “They will be in my prayers tonight…1 Peter 2:1-25.” This Bible scripture states to “rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.” Kym Karath, who played Greti von Trapp in the 1965 film, was one of many who slammed the show, Tweeting during its airing: “Mystified & disappointed so far by SOM special. So far only happy with Stephen Moyer. Must admit some scenes are actually painful to watch…. “Love Carrie Underwood but this role is just not right for her. She is lovely her voice is beautiful but acting is wrong.” Many agreed. No one can question Underwood’s voice, but she isn’t a seasoned actress and it showed at times. Did you tune in for the Sound of Musical special? What did you think?   Loved it!! Liked it enough. Not a huge fan … Hated it! That sucked! View Poll »

The Masturbating Walmart Dude of the Day

This guy is the best. What better way to ring in the Holidays than to take your morning jerk off to Wal Mart’s women’s bathroom, because masturbating at home is just dated and repetitive and your lonely life needs more excitement and weirdness… I’m a fan of this kind of insane behavior, or maybe I’m a fan of the offended women who likes her masturbation to not exist, the bible doesn’t like masturbation…. I hope he starts a trend. It’ll make Walmart less about depressing obese women buying toilet paper and more creepy perverts getting down… Good times.

Clapback: Fans Go In On Jada Pinkett Smith For Anti-Christian Statement On Facebook

Jada, you know you don’t play with God like that! Fans Slam Jada Pinkett Smith For Anti-Christian Statement This is the same lady who defended Jaden saying kids needed to drop out of school. Doesn’t Jada know people will cut you down to the white meat over their God? According to Rolling Out: Jada Pinkett Smith recently caused a stir on Facebook after she posted an “inspirational” status update that to some seemed to be anti-Christianity. “We are born with our souls, but it is through our experiences in life that we are given the opportunity to discover the paths needed to develop the self,” wrote Smith. “In order to do this we must not belong to the obedient…we must belong to our truth.” And while over 42,000 people liked the comment, several fans spoke out against her words and ordered her to reconnect with God and study the bible. “This is not the truth, so many lost souls. We must be obedient to God and follow his will for our lives!” wrote one fan. “We are to be obedient to God,” added another. Jada and her family have long been rumored to be a part of the Church of Scientology. In 2008, the Smiths funded a school that taught children under the principles of “Study Technology,” a concept created by the Church of Scientology’s founder Ron L. Hubbard. Both Willow and Jaden Smith attended the academy before it closed its door amid controversy in June. Hit the flip to see the fans come for Jada.

Flo Rida Jesus Bling: A Fashion Do or Don’t?

Flo Rida took to the stage this morning as part of the Today Toyota Summer Concert Series, rocking out to a compilation of “Wild Ones,” “Can’t Believe it,” “Whistle,” and “I Cry.” But many in the crowd and on the Internet took more note of what the rapper rocked around his neck than the words that came out of his mouth: One seriously HUGE Jesus Christ necklace. “It’s the sign of success,” said Flo Rida. “I put God first in everything I do.” But would Jesus want the artist spending so much money on a piece of jewlery over other causes to which the cash could go? Is that what the bible teaches? So critics ask, at least. Join the debate now: What do you think of Flo Rida’s Jesus bling?   It’s inappropriate! It sends a good message View Poll »
