Biggie’s Mom Has Lil’ Kim Removed From Monica Single

Read more:

Newlywed R&B star Monica has found herself in the middle of a family feud. The ATL  singer recently collaborated with Rick Ross, Missy Elliott and Lil’ Kim for the single, “Anything.” The song samples David Porter’s “I’m Afraid the Masquerade Is Over” used for the Notorious B.I.G’s classic “Who Shot Ya?” and the Queen Bee cribs a few lines from the Biggie hit in her verse. (Listen below) According to Monica’s twitter account Biggie’s mother Voletta Wallace has stopped the single from being released because Lil’ Kim appears on the song. As custodian of Biggie’s estate, Ms. Wallace approves any samples of her late son’s music. “I am just finding out what has happened to my single and myself & Missy are beyond hurt that @LilKim was removed. She’s our friend, a legend,” Monica wrote. “Lil Kim will get the respect she deserves at all cost. The clearance was revoked and I’m fighting to get it reinstated by the Biggie Estate.” Ms. Wallace and Lil’ Kim have been engaged in a very public feud over the past few years, most recently over Kim’s portrayal in the biopic Notorious . Based on Monica’s tweets, the song would not be cleared unless Lil’ Kim’s vocals were removed. Despite her displeasure, Monica maintained her respect for Ms. Wallace and did not take sides, insisting that she “respects all parties involved” and hopes to have the song reinstated with Lil’ Kim featured. Lil’ Kim has taken the high road thus far simply writing, “I want ya’ll to know that Missy Elliot and Monica Brown have been going hard a s mothaf*cka for this situation. I love them so much! We are planning something even BIGGER for you guys.” WARNING: EXPLICIT CONTENT What do you think? Should Biggie’s mom let this one go or do you think she did the right thing blocking the record? Who Made The Best Remixes?

See the article here:

Once upon a time in “music business land,” the remix was heavily sought after and appreciated. Producers would put their all into creating a the spin to a song that will create a new sound. The way things go now… just add a wack rapper on a track and you have a remix. That wasn’t the case back when Diddy was Puffy, or Timbaland didn’t have muscles, and JD had braids. There are plenty of producers we could have picked to go against each other, but these are three elite executives that have shown consistency over a long period of time. We chose three of the producers best remixes and pinned them up against each other. P.Diddy “Take That” Diddy said he “invented the remix” but he probably invented it just as much as Trey Songz “Invented Sex.” You can’t deny that he has contributed some of the greatest remixes in music history though. P.Diddy didn’t create the beats for these songs but he hand a handful to do with remixing them. Let’s listen to some… One More Chance Remix Honey Remix- Mariah Carey ft Puff Daddy & The Family Flava In Your Ear-Craig Mack, Biggie, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes Diddy went in on “One More Chance,” the remix is 10x better than the original could ever be! Timbaland Timbaland was just honored by VH1 at the Hip Hop Honors: Dirty South for his outstanding work in music. Timbaland’s sound has been described as futuristic and refreshing. He uses beats and mixes that aren’t normally paired to give you a sound that isn’t normally heard. Let’s get into his remixes… Get Your Freak On Remix- Missy ft. Nelly Furtado Hot Like Fire Remix- Aaliyah ft Missy Elliot & Timbaland Bounce Remix From Step Up 2 Soundtrack “Bounce” has one of the craziest beats I have ever heard, this is getting hard… Jermaine Dupri Jermaine Dupri was also honored at Vh1′s Hip Hop Honors: Dirty South. He said he came up with the name So So Def during the 90′s when everything out was “Def” even Def Jam.  He put the So So in front of it because he said he was just so much “defer” than anyone out. Honestly speaking- his music is definitely hot! Last but not least here’s JD’s remixes… Let’s Get married Remix- Jagged Edge ft. Run DMC Sleeping In my Bed- So So Def Remix- Dru Hill ft Jermaine Dupri & Da Brat Welcome To Atlanta Remix- Jermaine Dupri ft. Ludacris, P.Diddy, Murphy Lee, Snoop Dogg I don’t know, that “Welcome To Atlanta Remix” is tough! The winner is… You Decide! FBI Files Reveal Biggie May Have Been Murked By A Tupac-Obsessed Shady Cop!!!

As Voletta Wallace (and most of the rest of us) suspected, a crooked cop may really have killed Biggie . Which might explain why the LAPD have had such a hard time solving the crime. The Freedom of Information Act has given the public access to the FBI file detailing the agency’s investigation of the 1997 fatal shooting of Christopher Wallace aka the Notorious B.I.G. and shady one-time officer David Mack is looking real suspect right now. Six months after Tupac’s murder in Las Vegas, on March 9th, Biggie and his crew were leaving a party at L.A.’s Peterson Automotive Museum in a three-car caravan when a black Chevy SS Impala pulled up to his window and fired several shots, killing the rapper almost instantly. According to the FBI investigation, the ammunition used was the extremely rare metal-piercing Gecko 9mm bullets, which are manufactured in Germany and only available in the U.S. through two distributors. Here’s where the shady police tie comes in. A corrupt LAPD officer named David Mack was arrested for masterminding a Bank of America heist of over $700,000 six months after Biggie’s death. When police raided his home they found Gecko ammunition and a shrine to Tupac. A black Chevy SS Impala was parked next to his house. Mack also had ties to Suge Knight and Death Row Records. If you’ve watched any of those Biggie documentaries you’ve probably heard some of this before — especially since Biggie’s family filed a wrongful death suit against Mack in 2007 — but the information about the ammo and the car only seems to confirm what most already suspected. David Mack is currently behind bars serving a 14-year sentence for the Bank of America robbery, and claims he is innocent of the Wallace murder. Do you believe him? Source

REWIND: Carlos Broady, “I Definitely Hear Biggie In Lil Wayne”

Excerpt from:

A few years ago I was asked to write a cover story in The Source magazine for the 10th Anniversary of Biggie’s passing. Being a jaded hip-hop production fiend I didn’t want to take the usual angle with the story, so I spoke with several producers and the DJ who discovered him, MR. Cee to get a unique take on the influence of the Notorious B.I.G on today’s hip-hop artists and fans. One producer in particular, Carlos “Six July” Broady , worked with both Biggie and one of his clones , Gorilla Black. It made for some interesting convo: Easy Mo Bee: “Flavor In Your Ear,” “The What” “Warning” “Party & Bullshit” As an MC, lyricist and as a writer, the thing that stood out about him was tone of voice, cadence or what we call flow. As tone of voice goes, a lot of people don’t know, anybody that entered the music life of Biggie…by the second album he had matured vocally into a really secure MC. He was so sure of himself that you heard it in his voice. In the beginning, “Party and Bullshit,” ” Gimme Da loot,” there was that loud, hard screaming voice. You can tell from the vocals that Fifty took were from that period. We heard the voice calm down a little on “Warning” but I really noticed it on “Big Poppa.” I was like yo, is this new Biggie? … DJ Mr. Cee: The importance of who he is and still being the greatest rapper of all time is still evident, but I think the one thing we need to start being concerned with is continuing to educate the younger generation on who the Notorious BIG is. As the years pass by there is a younger generation that is going to start not knowing who the Notorious B.I.G is. And it may sound funny that I’m saying this, but I DJ in these clubs all the time and it’s getting to the point where I can play “One More Chance” for an 18 year old audience and they almost don’t know the record… DJ Premier, “Kick In The Door,” “Unbelievable” “Ten Crack Commandments” Well, me personally, I don’t’ think he’s an influence at all on these new MCs cuz the skill level has gone way down. Biggie never said any dumb rhymes. His worst rhyme is better than anything to come out now. I don’t hear artists pushing the envelope. Other than Royce and maybe The Game, he had the most consistent album of 2006… Carlos Broady “My Downfall” “Niggas Bleed” “What’s Beef” “Somebody Got to Die” I think Biggie’s influence has survived because if you look at the style that Big had, the creativity…what I liked about Biggie is that he’d rap over any type of beat. When I hear cats like TI and hear them flip their lyrics, I can kind of hear it. I hear it in Lil Wayne as well. I’m from the south, so to see hip-hop doing what its doing makes me glad. We’ve been doing this for a long time and now we can do the things we want to do mainstream. I can definitely hear Big in Lil Wayne , the flyness. That’s just me… Get the complete memories at Nodfactor.com

Diddy Regrets Not Sending Notorious B.I.G. To London The Day He Died

Bad Boy mogul says letting Biggie stay in L.A. is ‘the only regret that does haunt me.’ By Mawuse Ziegbe Notorious B.I.G. and Diddy in 1995 Photo: Evan Agostini/ Getty Images As one of the most money-earning, game-changing, party-starting moguls in entertainment, Diddy has had a lot to celebrate throughout his career. However, the star has also spent a lot of his storied career lamenting the loss of his slain friend and Bad Boy artist, Notorious B.I.G. Diddy recently revealed that one his biggest regrets is not insisting that the late star handle some business overseas; a move that could have saved Biggie’s life. “Probably the only regret that does haunt me was the night that Biggie got killed. … He was supposed to go to London for a promo tour, and he had talked me into letting him stay in L.A.,” the entertainer revealed in a press conference video posted online by US Rap News . “That’s, like, a regret that I have, just not forcing him to get on the plane.” Diddy expressed similar regrets about the day Biggie died in a video blog released last year before the release of the biopic “Notorious.” Biggie was murdered on March 9, 1997, in Los Angeles after attending an after-party for The Soul Train Awards. The case remains unsolved. The situation is eerily similar to the challenge faced by the protagonist in Diddy’s latest movie, Get Him to the Greek. The flick revolves around an ambitious record label rep (played by Jonah Hill) tasked with delivering a rowdy rock star (portrayed by Russell Brand) from London to Los Angeles for a comeback concert. Brand’s character spends most of the movie trying to finagle his way out of his professional commitments. Diddy plays an over-amped music exec whose insane demands and bizarre behavior make things even more difficult for Hill’s character. Diddy-Dirty Money held a press conference in Paris to promote the group’s upcoming album Last Train to Paris. The project includes the steely single “Angels,” which features a verse from B.I.G. Biggie Would Have Spent 38th Birthday ‘With The Family,’ Lil’ Cease Says

Junior M.A.F.I.A. member recalls some of B.I.G.’s past birthdays. By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Rahman Dukes and Sway Calloway Notorious B.I.G. Photo: Getty Images The Big man with the even bigger heart. Friday (May 21) would have been Notorious B.I.G.’s 38th birthday. Lil’ Cease sat back and thought about fond memories of his late friend, especially birthday memories. There was a time when Cease lost a birthday present that Faith Evans had bought her husband. “I lost a ring she bought Big,” Cease said with a big grin. “It was about $15,000.” Cease would sometimes wear Biggie’s jewelry onstage while they were performing. During a section in the show where they performed “Gimme the Loot,” Cease would throw wads of cash into the crowd. During one show in Texas, Cease was wearing Big’s gift and threw the ring in the crowd along with the money. The youngest member of the Junior M.A.F.I.A. didn’t realize until they were backstage after the show. “He’s like, ‘A’ight, where that ring at, playboy?’ ” Cease thought back. “I’m looking on my finger, in my pockets. … He was like, ‘That ring is gone.’ ” Cease said Big wasn’t angry, he just told him he had to deal with Faith. Cease also laughed when he looked at a picture of Biggie blowing out birthday candles with Puff Daddy at a party, circa 1995. “That’s Puff Daddy. I can’t remember his name, but the guy in the middle, that’s Stevie J’s brother,” the Brooklyn native said, looking at the photo that was shot by Ronnie Wright. “We was in the park during a Total video shoot. We was just sitting there, 3 o’clock in the afternoon, drinking Cristal on the grass in Long Island, having fun. Fly. That was just the start of the day.” Laughter ensued when Cease thought about when Biggie turned 21. “At that time, we was still getting on with the record deal. It wasn’t that much of a celebration. Just more some family and friends sitting around having a good time. Real basic stuff. A little party. Riding around listening to music. We knew what was about to happen. Puff was working with him. Diddy threw a nice gathering for us. It was just the basics. Big had that Land Cruiser. We would drive around, get that smoke for the first part of the day. Then we was in the lab, in Daddy’s House [Diddy’s studio]. Daddy’s House had just got up and running.” When asked how Big would be celebrating today, Cease said more of the same. “Today, he’d probably just be with the family,” Cease said. “We had our experience on the road: performing, doing shows, big parties. He definitely would have had a big party. A celebrity affair. But he also would have done something private with the M.A.F.I.A., close friends, wife. He kept it together with everybody he dealt with, and I’m sure they would have all came out and shown their love for Big and kept everything else under the carpet, whatever it was. Big had that type of heart, that everyone would wanna come out and show their love and spend that day with him.” How do you think Biggie would have celebrated his 38th birthday? Let us know in the comments.
