Here are Rick Ross and Wale celebrating their careers’ new lives on the cover of Billboard Magazine. The screw faces and funny smiles don’t particularly do much for us, but we know some of you ladies are into this type of thing. So we had to ask: which one would you hit??
Becoming one of the biggest names in rap/hip-hop/pop, Nicki Minaj is having one heck of a year. With this new honor from Billboard, it’s going to get even bigger. She is slated to receive the honor of Rising Star of 2011 at Billboard’s “Women in Music” event on December 2 in New York City. She will no doubt look ridiculous. Minaj said she was “deeply honored to be recognized by Billboard ” and that she and her fans”mighty long way” but are not close to where “God will take us.” A classic moment in a year full of them for Nicki Minaj . With her talent and style, the rapper/singer has emerged as one of music’s most popular entertainers since releasing her debut album Pink Friday late last year. Her hits include “Super Bass” and “Moment 4 Life,” and she’s collaborated with many other big names. She’ll have one of her biggest fans on hand next Friday: Taylor Swift will be honored as Woman of the Year. Anyone surprised?
Coldplay marked Mylo Xyloto’s recent #1 debut on the Billboard chart with a visit to the Saturday Night Live stage, which was splashed with trippy neon graffiti akin to their album cover for the occasion. (The witty Chris Martin, ever pleased to show off his comedy chops, appeared in a Weekend Update sketch as well). … More » Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Idolator Discovery Date : 13/11/2011 07:20 Number of articles : 2

Attention, Beliebers: Justin Bieber, and free speech advocates everywhere, need your help. The 17-year old star is at the center of a campaign – aptly titled Free Justin Bieber – initiated by Fight for the Future, a fair-use advocacy group that’s urging citizens to vote against congressional law S.978. What the heck is congressional law S.978? It’s a rule that would make it illegal for individuals to stream/use copyrighted music in an online video. And where does Bieber come into this debate? He was discovered by Usher via a homemade YouTube video of himself covering a handful of R&B hits. If this law is passed, such an act might result in a prison stint. Instead of a record deal. “Tell Congress to get a clue and stop trying to jail people for singing,” the organization says in a statement, asking folks to sign its online petition. “Congress has no business making ordinary Internet users criminals for expressing themselves online.” Seriously. Under this law, five-year old Sophia Grace Brownlee would be a criminal.
We hate to say it, but the facts speak for themselves: the solo career of Joe Jonas is off to an abysmal start. In its first week of sales, Joe’s first-ever solo album, “Fastlife,” sold just 18,000 copies, landing him in 15th place on the Billboard 200. By comparison, the last CD Jonas compiled with his brothers, “A Little Bit Longer,” moved 525,000 copies in the same time period. Ouch. Joe Jonas Covers Chris Brown Nick Jonas , meanwhile, also jumped into a solo career last year (with his band, The Administration, that is) and sold 82,000 copies of “Who I Am.” Double ouch. “Transforming a charmed teenhood career into a viable adult one is possibly one of the entertainment industry’s most difficult feats,” wrote Julianne Escobedo Shepherd in Billboard last week. “For every Justin Timberlake, there are 10 former boy-band members whose post-group disinterest led them to hang up their hats.” Can Joe rebound from this rough opening week? Or will we next see him on stage with his siblings? Stay tuned, THGers. Stay tuned.
Having successfully shot down the most ridiculous rumor of the year , Beyonce can return her focus to her impending state of motherhood. That’s the main topic for the singer in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar , as she opens up to the magazine about why she waited until now to start a family: “It was important to me that I gave myself time to focus on becoming the woman I want to be, building my empire, my relationship, and my self-worth, before I became a mother. Now God has blessed us with the ultimate.” Beyonce says patience was also a virtue in her relationship with Jay Z, about whom she has nothing but many great things to say: “We have been together since I was 20 years old. We took our time and developed an unbreakable friendship before we got married. I admire his ability to inspire others. “To me, Jay represents the American dream. Jay’s music has helped define our generation. All that he has overcome and worked to achieve gives millions hope that they can become whatever they want to be. I respect him so much; he is a great man and a great artist.” Finally, Beyonce talked about the level she’s reached in both her personal life and her professional life: “I am finally at the stage in my life where I am not so concerned with other people’s opinions about my life decisions. It is so liberating to really know what I want, what truly makes me happy, what I will not tolerate. I have learned that it is no one else’s job to take care of me but me.” For more from the star, pick up this issue of Harper’s Bazaar.
Hindsight being 20-20, Oscar winner Hilary Swank says she probably should have negged an invite top the birthday party for the President of Chechnya last week. You know, with the dude being accused of torturing and killing people and stuff. Swank, Jean Claude Van Damme and others attended a concert in Chechnya for president Ramzan Kadyrov on October 5, to the dismay of human rights groups. Hilary Swank Greets President of Chechnya “I deeply regret attending this event. If I had a full understanding of what this event was apparently intended to be, I would never have gone,” said Swank. The actress says at the time she accepted the invitation to the concert, she had no idea the event was intended to honor Ramzan Kadyrov personally. Swank gave a speech at the event, however, and even wished him a happy birthday. Asked how she knows that, she replied, “I read … I do my research.” Kadyrov has been accused of torturing and murdering his political rivals, though Kadyrov claims that’s all lies, made up by opponents to make him look bad. Mission accomplished in that case.
