Scotty McCreery has set a difficult bar for Lauren Alaina to reach. The American Idol sold almost 200,000 of his debut album last week, earning the top spot in the Billboard 200 list. Now, it’s Alaina’s turn to see if she can come near that total, as the runner-up has released “Wildflower,” a CD she promoted with an appearance on Good Morning America Tuesday. Hollywood starlets with iPhones and Blackberrys, you may breathe a sigh of relief. After more than a year of investigating, and just a few weeks after Scarlett Johansson nude photos were leaked and became the latest celebrity scandal tied to a major hacking ring, federal officials have finally made an arrest in the case. That’s right, Operation Hackerazzi (the FBI’s name for it) got its man. You can kiss those Scarlett Johansson nude pics goodbye! Hooray/darn! The FBI has not released any information aside from the fact that an arrest was made . More details are expected to be released at a press conference in L.A. shortly. The investigation into the phone-hacking ring plaguing hot young Hollywood began in 2010, as suspicions first surfaced that starlets’ phones were compromised. Naturally, those phones included personal and inevitably X-rated photos, texts and emails … resulting in a whole lot of scandals and criminal charges for some perv. Vanessa Hudgens was also a frequent victim of the scandal, as was Mila Kunis . Christina Aguilera, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Jessica Alba, Selena Gomez, Ali Larter, Busy Philipps, Emma Caulfield and Addison Timlin were among others tied to the case. Scotty McCreery is growing accustomed to finishing in first place. The talented young country crooner did so on American Idol in May, of course, and now he’s done so again on the Billboard Top 200. McCreery’s debut album, “Clear as Day,” sold 197,000 copies in its first week out, according to Nielsen SoundScan, placing it atop that chart. Scotty McCreery – I Love You This Big “My head is just spinning,” Scotty says. “It started out kind of low: They said 100,000 maybe. Then every day I saw the numbers climbing. It’s wild: It wasn’t a year ago that I was a normal cat, and now I’m number one on Billboard. It’s insane, it really is.” McCreery is the first Idol champion to hit number-one with his initial release since Ruben Studdard in 2003. Lauren Alaina , meanwhile, released her first effort this week and will try to match Scotty’s total.
Roger Williams, a virtuoso pianist who topped the Billboard pop chart in the 1950s and played for nine U.S. presidents during a long career, passed away Saturday. He was 87. The electrifying stage performer and an adept improviser died at home in Los Angeles of complications from pancreatic cancer, according to reports. Williams’ 1955 hit “Autumn Leaves” is the only piano instrumental to reach No. 1 on the Billboard pop charts and remains the best-selling piano record of all time. Nicknamed the “pianist to the presidents,” Williams played for every commander in chief from Harry Truman to George W. Bush. He was a close friend to several. Williams was close friends with Jimmy Carter, with whom he shared a birthday. When the two men turned 80, Mr. Williams played at the Jimmy Carter Library. As a teenager, Williams had already scored his own 15-minute radio show on KRNT, broadcast live from a Des Moines, Iowa (his hometown), department store. Later he hosted a program on WHO, where he met a young sports announcer named Ronald “Dutch” Reagan. The two became friends – for over six decades. Williams moved to New York to study jazz at the Juilliard School of Music. He is credited with at least 22 hit singles from 37 commercially successful albums. He is not to be confused for the 17th Century English theologian for whom a Rhode Island university is named, or for JWoww’s huge boyfriend Roger Williams .
It looks like Game’s wacky antics have paid off! The West Coast rapper has a lot to be smiling about after his fourth studio album R.E.D debuted number one on the Billboard 200 charts. According to Nielsen Soundscan, R.E.D sold 98,000 copies in it’s first week making it his fourth album to debut at number one.
