Source: Lars Niki / Getty Mount Vernon Mayor Says He Was Racially Profiled By Bank Employees The Mayor of Mount Vernon, New York , Richard Thomas, blasted Chase bank employees this week for allegedly racially profiling him at a branch in White Plains. Mayor Thomas held a press conference on Monday, April 29, to denounce the actions of JP Morgan Chase workers for calling the police on him a week earlier. According to Thomas, he was at the bank along with his chief of staff and a Mount Vernon Police detective as Thomas sought access to Mount Vernon’s online banking records. “The response by the White Plains Police Department was resolved amicably after one of the responding officers recognized the Mount Vernon Police detective,” press advisor Lou Migliore stated, according to Westchester News 12. “Mayor Thomas believes that race played a role in the Chase employees calling the police. The two staffers who accompanied Mayor Thomas are Black and Hispanic.” The mayor continued to fume during a press conference Monday afternoon and called the bank’s actions unacceptable. “As a mayor and as a young, well-educated black man living during this turbulent time in society where police are being called on black people for going about everyday life, this is unacceptable,” Thomas wrote in a letter to Chase CEO Jamie Dimon. “We’ve seen this happen to two black men at a Starbucks in Philadelphia. We’ve also seen this happen to Oregon Rep. Janelle Bynum while she was campaigning. Now it happened to me.” Thomas also said that he filed a formal complaint with Chase over the incident. “We’ve seen a situation happen where the police are called on people of color, particularly Black people, for no apparent reason,” he continued during the press conference. “And one person said he has a gun, and it was kind of like, ‘What? What?’ Because when we came we announced who we were. We made it clear that the mayor travels with security for security purposes.” A representative from JP Morgan Chase responded to the criticsm and denied that Thomas was racially profiled. The bank countered by saying one of the employees saw a plainclothes detective with a firearm on him but did not know he was a police officer. “Our staff acted appropriately,” responded bank spokesperson Joseph Evangelisti. Thomas denies any claims that he and his staff caused a disturbance and that his detective never brandished his gun.

The movie takes place in rural Louisiana and it tells the story of a deeply religious mother who struggles to reconcile her convictions of faith with the love she has for her troubled son. In an interview with Shadow And Act , Youmans — a New Orleans native — said, “I feel fortunate to be in Tribeca. It’s crazy, thinking about that, I’m living it. I’m happy that Burning Cane is going to be seen.” He continued: “I’m happy that it resonated with people, and that it’s from my voice. I didn’t have to compromise anything. I’d say that’s the most validating aspect of it. This is a film that I wanted to make. People who believed in me were willing to work well below industry rates to help me do it, and my creative voice, my creative instincts were good enough.” Filmmaker extraordinaire, Ava DuVernay , congratulated Youmans in a tweet, writing, “The brother is just 19 years old. He wrote, directed, shot and edited his film while in high school. And he just won big at Tribeca. Can’t wait to see BURNING CANE.” The brother is just 19 years old. It appears that he only had but so much fortitude on deck to wiggle and squirm out of the direct questions asked of him in regards to the Mueller investigation and Donald Trump. Source: Win McNamee / Getty The running scared Attorney General was publicly mocked today on the same floor he was publicly skewered on yesterday by Tennessee state Rep. Steve Cohen who brought in a big bucket of KFC to mock “chicken” Bill Barr… This is what America has become thanks to Donald Trump and his endless roster of obsequious a$$ kissers.
Source: Hill Street Studios / Getty Student Banned From Prom Over Racist Sign Promposals have become the most anticipated part of prom season, aside from the outfits — but some people just take things too far. An Ohio student has been banned from attending prom after his school district claimed his promposal sign used racist language. The sign read, “If I Was Black, I’d Be Picking Cotton. But I’m White, So I’m Picking You For Prom.” Janice Wyckoff, the superintendent at Clear Fork Valley Local Schools, told reporters: “To be frank with you I thought, ‘Oh my goodness; this is awful. Kids need to understand, when you’re celebrating things it doesn’t give you a pass on using inappropriate racial slurs. I don’t believe that this is any group think on the part of the student body. This is one person making a bad decision that’s going to reflect on everybody. This is actually a terrible day in the Clear Fork Valley.” The student has not been identified, and Wyckoff doesn’t know if the student is a junior or senior. She added that the student is remorseful, has deleted the social media post and learned the power of his words. Mmmhmm.
