Florida Man Impersonated Cop But Pulls Over Police Officer A Florida man is charged with falsely impersonating an officer and unlawfully using police insignia after he allegedly tried to pull over a pair of detectives. Via NBC 2 reports: John Arthur Benedict, 69, was arrested on Saturday. He had been driving a white, Ford Crown Victoria with strobe lights, a spot light and “police interceptor” markings that were “consistent with an official unmarked law enforcement patrol vehicle,” according to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office incident report. The report says that the undercover detectives – one of which who was off-duty – were in an unmarked Lee County Sheriff’s Office SUV on Palm Beach Boulevard in Fort Myers when they saw a Crown Victoria behind them. They thought it was law enforcement, according to the report, which says the Crown Victoria followed them closely and then activated lights. “[The detective] who was driving pulled into the right hand lane to stop for the law enforcement officer,” the report notes. But as the detective pulled over he noticed the vehicle was actually not law enforcement and it continued to drive east into a supermarket parking lot. The detective followed the vehicle into the parking lot and made contact with Benedict – asking him if he was law enforcement, according to the redacted report that doesn’t show exactly how Benedict may have responded to them. We spoke briefly on Monday with Benedict by phone. He said he has never done this before and described the incident as a “senior moment.” The detectives detained Benedict until other law enforcement arrived. Benedict told authorities that he bought the “police interceptor” logo and installed it because he thought the vehicle was police edition, according to the report. His son and ex-wife arrived on the scene and authorities say they were told by the ex-wife that Benedict had been arrested in another state before for impersonating an officer, according to the arrest report. Arizona Cop Runs Suspect Over With Squad Car Looks like some cops are skipping the whole middle-man of actually having a confrontation with their suspects and attempting to kill them before even bothering to exit their vehicles. Police in Arizona released dash-cam footage from multiple angles showing the moment one officer decided to run-over an armed hispanic suspect with his squad car — later praised by the Chief of Police for potentially saving the suspect’s life with his actions. Um…okay. Via CBSnews : Police in Arizona released video from a dashboard camera showing how a police officer used his cruiser to put an end to a crime spree in February, CBS affiliate KOLD-TV in Tucson reported. In the video, recorded Feb. 19, an apparent gunshot is heard as suspect Mario Valencia is seen walking down a street in Marana, a town northwest of Tucson. Then, in a decision that Marana police Chief Terry Rozema says probably saved Valencia’s life, Officer Michael Rapiejko drives his cruiser onto the sidewalk and rams Valencia. According to Marana police, Valencia was fleeing from a Walmart where he had allegedly stolen a rifle. He had already been intercepted by police near a post office, where he pointed the rifle at his head multiple times and threatened suicide before firing the gun in another direction and fleeing. Police do not know if he was shooting at officers, and no one was hit by the bullet. The pursuit came to an end outside a self storage facility nearby, where Rapiejko hit the suspect with his cruiser. “This was a dangerous felon who’d been on a crime spree throughout the morning,” Marana Police Sgt. Chris Warren told KOLD-TV in February. “He’d just stolen a weapon, loaded it, was not obeying commands from officers and was walking toward occupied businesses. It’s a busy time of morning, a lot of employees at work, a lot getting ready to come out for breaks, he’s walking toward those businesses. So we had to take immediate action and make sure he didn’t get inside those businesses.” At least this suspect was actually armed before the police made an attempt on his life. Teen Shot In Accident Retaliation Revealed As Toddler’s Brother Yesterday, we reported the Milwaukee man who was shot dead just moments after accidentally running over a 2-year-old boy who darted into the street, alongside a teenager who was on the scene. In an even more tragic turn of events, the young boy who was also shot at the scene by the unknown shooter, later dying during operation, was actually the toddler’s older brother — having run to the scene to check on the 2-year-old just moments after he was struck by the van. Via MailOnline : The 15-year-old Wisconsin boy who was gunned down along with the driver who accidentally ran over a 2-year-old with his van Sunday has now been identified as the dead toddler’s brother. Police say an unnamed gunman opened fire in Milwaukee Sunday after 40-year-old Archie Brown Jr struck and killed little Damani Terry when the toddler darted out of a house into the street. A person armed with a gun rushed to the scene of the crash and shot dead Brown, along with Damani Terry’s big brother, 15-year-old Rasheed Chiles, who ran outside to check on the toddler. Brown, a father of four, was struck in the head by a bullet and died at the scene near a park on Milwaukee’s near northwest side. Chiles was hit in the shoulder and was taken to a hospital, where he died during surgery. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed in a statement late Monday that Damani and Rasheed were brothers. A police statement said Brown was distraught about hitting the child and stopped right away, according to witnesses. The statement didn’t explain how and why Chiles was shot, but police said he and the 2-year-old were attending a cookout together at the house near the accident. Mayor Tom Barrett called the shooting of Brown an ‘assassination’ during an emotional press conference. “Someone got angry,” Barrett said. “Someone took a gun and basically assassinated this gentleman.” So this family lost not one, but two children in this tragic accident followed by what seemed to be an act of revenge. Young Thug Changes Album Title Young Thug and Lil Wayne have been butting heads over the title to Thug’s new release on Cash Money, The Carter 6 , for obvious reasons. Even though Young Thug has already insisted that he means no offense by snatching his “idol’s” album title, it seems Wayne isn’t having it and has moved forward with not only threats , but legal action. Welp, Thug heard that message loud and clear and decided to back up off “The Carter.” So what title is he going with now? Hmmm…so it’s the BARTER 6 now?
