It looks like Darren Aronofsky couldn’t limit his swipes at Armond White to anonymous blog comments like the rest of us. While presenting Matthew Libatique with the Best Cinematography award at Monday night’s New York Film Critics’ Circle Awards ceremony, the Black Swan director unloaded on White, the NYFCC chair: “I thought I was giving Armond White the compassion award because if you don’t have something you should get it,” said Aronofsky . “Seriously, keep it up because you give all of us another reason not to read New York Press .” Try the veal!

From Classy to Trashy: Where Does the Black Swan Sex Scene Fall on the Girl-on-Girl Taste Index

During her press tour for Black Swan , Natalie Portman revealed that it wasn’t her intense performance — or Darren Aronofsky’s riveting spin on Swan Lake — that attracted both male and female audience members to the theater en masse ; it was the heavily-teased sex scene that she shared with co-star Mila Kunis. But how can the competitive ballerina-on-ballerina relationship (that has been described as Showgirls -esque by some critics) consummated in that scene still qualify Portman for the most respected of acting accolades? Movieline evaluates the artistic merit of the scene ahead (you’re welcome, Academy), and ranks it among the classiest and trashiest cinematic lesbian sex scenes.

Natalie Portman Loves Girl-on-Girl Action

“How do you get guys to a ballet movie? How do you get girls to a thriller? The answer is a lesbian scene. Everyone wants to see that.” – Natalie Portman The producers of Black Swan apparently agree with her. In Darren Aronofsky’s dark spin on the classic ballet Swan Lake, Natalie and Mila Kunis go at it. Portman also stars in No Strings Attached (as well as the upcoming Your Highness and The Other Woman ), but that alone should put Black Swan atop your list: “Everyone was so worried about who was going to want to see this movie,” Portman, who just got engaged to Benjamin Millepied , said in an interview. Natalie and Mila in a bed-rocking sex scene should help with that problem. The hot, surprising hook-up helped the film get more than just Oscar buzz.
