We’ve reported on the #JusticeForLucca movement since its inception back in April when a viral video of Broward County, Florida cops attacking the 15-year-old circulated the internet. Today, we get the news that we don’t often get when it comes to cops abusing their authority, criminal charges. According to ABCNews , the three officers involved in the brutality, Gregory LaCerra, 51, and Christopher Krickovich, 29, and 49-year-old Ralph Mackey were all charged. LaCerra and Krickovich were indicted for the physical assault as well as falsifying records in the cover-up. Mackey was charged separately with falsifying records and conspiracy. All three men have been suspended WITHOUT pay. Civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump is representing Lucca’s family and had this response to the happy news: “Wearing a badge is not a license to hurt children and then lie about it — with these charges, the world can now see clearly that is what happened,” the attorneys told WPLG in statement after the charges were announced. “The fact that the officers were charged with falsifying records and conspiracy to falsify records is rare, and it may represent a new trend in accountability for law enforcement officials.” Now let’s just see if the charges stick before we get too excited…

According to sources from The Sun , the iconic performer walked off the set of the new James Bond movie, Bond 25 , because she didn’t have enough lines. Jones already has Bond experience thanks to her role as the villain May Day in 1985’s A View To A Kill. The 70-year-old diva was expected to make an epic comeback in the new Bond 25 movie. However, sources say she was not satisfied with her role in the film. It’s a shame too, considering the crew spent loads of money making sure her stay was comfortable. According to sources, the production secured a luxury residence for Ms. Jones to stay in near Pinewood Studios in Buckingshamshire. “Of course, she comes with a reputation, so they organized premium accommodation and rolled out the red carpet on set to make her feel welcome,” one source said. “But it turns out Grace was expecting to play a bigger role in the movie and took her brief cameo as a slight. She was out of there quicker than it takes to rustle up a martini.” Damn. Grace’s cameo was first rumored back in April and it was expected to involve a scene with Daniel Craig . Ever since the movie started production, things have been pretty hectic. The original director of the movie, Danny Boyle , quit in August 2018 over the direction of the script. Then, earlier this month, outrage erupted on set after Boyle’s replacement, Cary Fukunaga , skipped filming to play on his Playstation, according to sources. This is a rumor he eventually denied , however. Despite all the chaos, Bond 35 is still scheduled to hit theaters on April 3 of next year.

I was tired of self inflicting pain on myself over the fact I do not have what society has deemed “good hair.” I shamed myself for forgiving him after he pummeled Rihanna’s face and questioned how a comment about hair would be the straw that broke the camel’s back. I forgave Chris in the past because of youthful ignorance. Because, back then, I couldn’t decipher the language of domestic abuse. Then I experienced it and understood that what occurred between Rihanna and Chris wasn’t a mutual fight, it was abuse. But with her forgiveness of the troubled singer, I too forgave him and started listening to his music again. Incident after incident, I forgave Chris Brown. After all, I’ve been a Chris Brown fan since the beginning *cue throwback photo of me and Chris at the Scream Tour after party* But a las, Chris Brown doesn’t disappoint (only if you count the fact that he consistently disappoints), and is at the center of controversy again with his admission, “Only wanna f**k the black b**ches with the nice hair.” But Chris Brown, in typical Chris Brown fashion, doesn’t see the problem…or he does and rather fuel flames by jumping on the defense and dare the women who are offended by his comments to post a photo of themselves, because he assumes we’re all ugly with skid row edges. “Weird ass angry people,” he wrote in response to a comment about his lyrics on Instagram. “Sincerely, from the bottom of my balls…I DON’T GIVE A F**K BOUT YALL NEGATIVE BOOTYFACE A** B*TCHES…IM START GIVING AWAY FREE LACE-FRONTS FOR ALL YOU WIERD (sic) FEMALES WIT THE SKID ROW EDGES AND LOW SELF ESTEEM. ASIDE FROM THAT…HOP OFF THESE NUTTS.” And if that wasn’t insulting enough, he took a step further for the visually impaired, “Half y’all look like BUDWEISER FROGS. SO PLEASE DON’T COME WIT DA BULLS**T. I WILL FIRE DAT A** UP AND ROAST THE HELL OUT OF YOU OVERLY SENSITIVE DUCKHEAD A** WIERDOS.” As I continue to grow as a woman and my understanding of beauty standards reaches profound depths, his latest stunt is shameful. Especially when much of his fan base is Black women without “good hair” who forgave him. This latest stunt exposes the Black men who use and abuse Black women to only abandon them in the long run. Brown has built his career on the backs of Black women’s support. From his mother to Rihanna to the little girl (me) who camped out to get her CD signed. We spent our hard earned dollars on his product to only be told we’re ugly Becke we don’t fit with his Fine China. The “good hair” conversation is old and tired like Chris Brown’s drug-fueled antics, but unfortunately, it’s a reality whether people like to acknowledge it or not. And most of the time, we rather not acknowledge it because for those who don’t fit into the category (myself included) it’s painful. And for that very reason, I decided I was going to cut off my emotions and tap out of the “good hair” convo to spare what sanity I had left after a week of social media buffoonery. Yet, here I am. But where there’s a “good hair” fire, there’s colorism smoke and a plethora of misguided “pick me” women and men who think 4c girls are just in our feelings or that Chris Brown or any other colorist’s comments don’t apply to them. To men, it’s just “preference.” I t is absolutely OK to be attracted to to different people for your specific reasons. However, when the basis of your preference is rooted in beauty standards defined by European features, you are no longer in the land of preference, but tap dancing on the plantation. The closer to White, the closer to right. And given Chris Brown’s dating history (Karrueche and Karrueche 2), he clearly has a type. And that type doesn’t include 4c or dark skin women . Outspoke Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star Tokyo Vanity exposed Brown on Instagram accusing the singer of discriminating against dark skin women. “When we was in the club in Miami and in the club in LA, b*tch in your section your rules was ‘No darkies.’ In response to Tokyo calling him out, he posted her bare face on Instastories, with the caption “Damn U fine Babygirl, let me take you to dinner.” When are these entertainers going to get it? And learn that alienating your core audience is career suicide. Brown was barely dancing in the good graces of women post-Rihanna now another assault on us because Black women are clearly dispensable. And if we continue to perpetuate these beauty standards created by our oppressors, we will not grow as a community to a place where colorism is just a conversation versus an overwhelming feeling of not being good enough for even our own people. Ditching the original plot that involved a board game, the reboot saw four teenagers transported into video game world swapping their real bodies with video game avatars played by Kevin Hart , Dwayne Johnson Karen Gillan, and Jack Black. So it’s no surprise a sequel was made, and finally, we get our first look at Jumanji: The Next Level which sees the original gang return but with a bit of twist. In the film’s first trailer, — despite putting a baseball bat to the video game console loaded with the Jumanji cartridge — at the end of the first film we see Spencer (Alex Wolff) misses his old buddies, fixes the smashed game system and returns to the world. When his friends show up, they learn Spencer is inside the malfunctioning game in, and it’s up to them to go save him. Once the heroes are inside they quickly learn something is wrong, Bethany is now missing, and Johnson and Hart’s avatars are now being controlled by two old men played by Danny DeVito and Danny Glover and the Fridge being transferred into Jack Black’s Professor Shelly Oberon. Right off the rip, it’s absolutely hilarious seeing Johnson and Hart do their own impersonations of DeVito and Glover. The action from the first film looks to be taken to another level as the gang alongside with the addition of the new characters search for Spencer and try to make it out the game alive. Also returning in Jumanji: The Next Level is Nick Jonas, Madison Iseman, and Morgan Turner, joining DeVito and Glover is Crazy Rich Asians star Awkwafina who will also be playing a new character in the film. The Jumanji franchise returns with Jumanji: The Next Level . The sequel to 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will have Kevin Hart, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Karen Gillan and Jack Black returning as their video game avatars while Ser’Darius Blain, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, and Madison Iseman return as their real-world counterparts. However, in this flick, Danny DeVito and Danny Glover join the cast as elderly relatives who get pulled into the Jumanji game as Johnson’s and Hart’s avatars. It’s sure to bring the action-comedy combo that made 2017’s Jumanji a $964 million worldwide box office hit. Check out the trailer for yourself above! On the TV side, Hulu plans to bring the international romance and comedy with their limited series Four Weddings and a Funeral. The show, which is a remake inspired by the 1994 movie of the same name will star Nathalie Emmanuel, Nikesh Patel, Rebecca Rittenhouse , and more. According to Shadow and Act , it’ll follow Maya, a young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign, as she receives a wedding invitation from her college schoolmate who now resides in London. She leaves her personal and professional life behind to travel to England and reconnect with old friends, however, she ends up in a personal crises. Relationships are formed then broken, political scandals cause a stir, love affairs are set aflame then complicated, and naturally, there are four weddings and a funeral.
