Campbell Karbon Kopies: All The Times The Kardashian-Jenners Kopied Naomi Campbell’s Looks

Continue reading here:

Source: Splash News / Splash News The topic of the Kardashian-Jenner krew and kultural appropriation is a tale as old time. But in a weird way, the privileged family still finds a way to do something that makes the appropriation conversation new and relevant again. Just last week, Khloe Kardashian got called out on social media for her struggly, vacation cornrows. SMH. View this post on Instagram Paradise Found A post shared by Khloé (@khloekardashian) on May 17, 2019 at 5:22am PDT   One commenter wrote: “Those braids aren’t you. You’re not black hun!!” Another said: “So none of her black friends gonna tell her this hair ain’t it?” As for Kim , the one who gets the most backlash for her ethnic-inspired looks (besides sister Kylie), she was caused a stir earlier this month for not-so-subtly copying many of supermodel Naomi Campbell’s 90’s looks. So much so that people thought that the fashion icon was feuding with the feeble family. But if there’s one thing we all know, it’s that you should never, under any circumstance, come for the the Queen of fashion and shade. Naomi may be an icon, but she knows just how to fight petty with even more petty. Each time Kim or Kylie rocked an outfit that was similar to one of her infamous, Ms. Campbell hopped on the ‘gram to prove that she in fact did it first. Back in the day, they probably would’ve gotten away with it, unscathed. But not with Black Twitter being the force that it is. After being called out on her ish, Kim K. (did what she does best) gave credit to Naomi for inspiring her recent looks by tagging the model in her photo. And we know a karbon kopy when we see one. In honor of Naomi’s 49th birthday, hit the flip to check out all the times the Kardashian-Jenner krew looked like a Campbell kopy kat.

5 Vitamins Black Women Should Take

Read this article:

Source: Tashi-Delek / Getty Just like one diet doesn’t fit all, one supplement regimen doesn’t either. Vitamins  should be based on lifestyle, age, gender, health goals, stress levels, sleep patterns, dietary restrictions, medical conditions and the medications you are taking to name a few. Personalized  vitamins reduce the risk of nutrient deficiencies while preventing a buildup of excess  vitamins  in your body. For instance, if you’re already getting plenty of calcium in your diet, it can be harmful to take calcium supplements long term. For all populations, nutrients and nutrient levels shift throughout life’s stages. For instance, if you’re in your childbearing years, it is important to get enough omega-3 fatty acids, specifically DHA, since it is a building block of the brain. In addition, folic acid (vitamin B9) is crucial to support healthy neural tube development in the growing fetus. Vitamin D deficiency is very common among people of color, primarily since pigmentation reduces vitamin D production in the skin. Vitamin D helps to protect against chronic conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers, all of which are more prevalent in the black population. Magnesium is an important mineral that African American women often don’t get enough of in a standard diet, where low magnesium levels are often associated with high blood pressure. Omega-3s, Blood Sugar Support (benfotiamine), CoQ10, and Garlic are some other nutritional supplements that can help support heart health, especially given that African Americans can experience an increased incidence of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Hair, Skin, & Nails is a must for black women who need to support hair growth and maintain moisture in the skin. In addition to creating a robust nutritional assessment to curate a customized pack of vitamins and nutrients for each person, Persona Nutrition also organizes the supplements by time of day to take personalization one-step further. There are nutrients that should be taken at various times of the day to help optimize health. For instance, you don’t want to take an energy-promoting nutrient right before bedtime. Our Persona vitamin packs are clearly marked by time of day to make daily nutrition truly personalized. Some vitamins #TeamBeautiful are currently taking: Probiotics- The Vitamin Shoppe- $29.99 Hair Growth- Shedavi- $25.00 Prenatal 1- One A Day- $26.99 Vitamin E- Grow Girl- $12.99 Vitamin A- Nature’s Bounty EvenBeauty- $13.03 RELATED STORIES: 7 Black Women Share What No One Told Them About Motherhood I Gave Stillbirth At 20 Weeks After Complaining For Weeks, Did I Receive Substandard Medical Care? 10 Healthy Meal Delivery Services To Try

Taryn Manning Bikini of the Day

Taryn Manning was hot when she played a street hooker in Hustle & Flow but I think she’s best known as the girl who licked her hand to lubricate her vagina in the Eminem 8 Mile sex scene you Eminem fans have jacked off to a few too many times…is out here in a bathing suit like she’s not in a 55+ retirement community, despite being 55. I had to cross reference my archives on Taryn Manning, because I remember there being some sort of internet Drama with Taryn Manning at some point in my internet blogging career, I just didn’t remember what that conflict was….as it turns out…we apparently had some back and forth on facebook before she blocked me….right when she booked Orange is the New Black…a show that I assume made her feel important, because like Game of Thrones it was one of those things people flocked to, watched, loved…I’m talking all people…because when something becomes mainstream…every fucking lemming gets into it… Then Taryn Manning lost her fucking mind, got arrested for threatening to kill her ex girlfriend, cuz she’s a dyke, and dykes are nuts and now she’s out in bathing suit…it may not be hot…but it’s not not hot…. A Lil Positivity: Oprah Surprises New Jersey High School With $500K Donation To “Lights On” Program

Source: Jeff Spicer/Future Image/WENN.com / WENN Oprah Gifts School In New Jersey With A Generous Donation Ellen DeGeneres has had Akbar Cook–the principal at West Side High School in Newark, New Jersey–on her show twice, giving him $50,000 each time for his “Lights On” program, which made national news for keeping kids off the street from 6 p.m. to midnight. But Ellen isn’t the only celebrity giving Akbar and his foundation a helping hand. Oprah Winfrey made a surprise visit to West Side High School on Friday, dropping in to say she is giving $500,000 to West Side’s summer initiative, which is also held during the school year on Friday nights. “I heard about West Side and all of the great things that are happening here,” Winfrey said to a packed gymnasium. “I thought, ‘what can I do?’” She continued, saying,  “I was moved by his story…Let me find this guy. Let me see what I can do to help further what he’s trying to do.” Winfrey–who came along with her longtime BFF and CBS co-anchor Gayle King, even had something extra for the kids. Everyone who was at the “Lights On” program would receive a $50 gift certificate to go shopping, as well. Students have said that their school is often maligned for having a reputation as a place where fights occur–but thank to Principal Cook and his staff, that narrative is changing. Senator Cory Booker has even tweeted about the principal, praising him during Black History Month as someone who should be admired. Oprah talked about the principal’s impact during her surprise appearance, praising his efforts and saying, “Everybody always talks about the grades. You can’t start to talk about the grades unless they feel safe, unless they feel seen, unless they feel respected, unless they feel valued.”

Cops Kill People: Arlington, Texas Cop Fired And Charged With Criminally Negligent Homicide Of Unarmed Black Man

Source: Robert Alexander / Getty Texas Cop Fired For Killing Unarmed Black Man While we’re glad that this cop is facing a real punishment for taking the life of a Black man, we can’t help be wish this was the rule and not the exception. According to NYPost , an Arlington, Texas police officer, Bau Tran, was fired and charged with the criminally negligent homicide of 24-year-old O’Shae Terry last September. Texas isn’t exactly a place where police are held to a standard of accountability when it comes to violence against people, but especially people of color. Tran shot Terry on Sept. 1 after another officer pulled the Forest Hill resident over on a registration violation. After talking for several minutes, body camera footage shows Tran grabbing the passenger-side window of the SUV Terry was driving as it begins to roll up. The officer stepped on to the vehicle’s running board as it started to move, pointed his gun into the SUV and fired multiple shots. Terry later died at a hospital. Tran was initially placed on restrictive duty, but then placed on leave after the grand jury indicted that a$$. Good riddance. Take some of your bacon-scented buddies with you.

Remy Ma & Safaree Sued For Breaching Chicago Performance Contracts

Source: Derrick Salters/WENN.com / WENN Remy Ma and Safaree were supposed to rock an April benefit concert but it appears the pair violated exclusivity terms of their contract and forced a cancellation of the event. The Love & Hip Hop: New York castmates were barred from performing within 60 miles of the Wintrust Arena in Chicago for a period of time but they nixed that part of the agreement. TMZ reports : The Circle Foundation — which mentors Chicago-area youths — is suing the rappers, saying they signed to perform at a fundraising concert back on April 21, 2018, at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. According to docs, obtained by TMZ, the Foundation was forced to cancel the show after the rappers breached their contracts. The Foundation claims their contracts specifically stated Remy and Safaree could NOT perform within 60 miles of the arena for 30 days before the event. It’s called a “performance exclusivity” clause, and it’s a common practice promoters use to make sure their concerts remain in hot demand. In the suit, the Foundation says the rappers agreed and signed the deal … with Remy getting a $35k deposit payment and Safaree getting $7,250. The problem, according to the docs, is Remy performed on April 8 at the Black Women’s Expo in Chicago — and Safaree played the Rockin’ Horse Saloon & Grill on April 14 in a Chicago suburb. The Circle Foundation is suing for the money it paid out plus damages. Remy Ma’s attorney has responded and promises to look into the matter. Reps for Safaree have yet to comment. — Photo: WENN

Chicago Gets Its First Black-Owned Urgent Care Facility

See the original post:

B lack doctors are making power moves in medicine. According to the Chicago Crusader , a group of African American medical professionals joined forces to open up Chicago’s only Black-owned urgent care facility. They just opened the first Black owned urgent care facility on the south side of Chicago. https://t.co/OnUEIvKAeb — #becauseofthemwecan (@Becauseofthem) May 9, 2019 The center—dubbed Premier Health Urgent Care—is the only one of its kind in the Hyde Park community. It was a collaborative effort between Reuben C. Rutland, MD , Airron Richardson, MD , Michael A. McGee, MD , and former NFL player Dr. Gregory Primus . Aware of the lack of access to adequate health services, they were determined to cultivate a space where individuals can receive proper care and support. The center goes beyond providing urgent care, it has mental health and wellness services as well. “We are happy to open an urgent care in Hyde Park because the community needs it. I see so many urban professionals who either delay or go without care because of time constraints. No one has 8 hours to wait in the emergency department for a minor illness or the flexibility to wait 3 weeks because their primary care doctor is booked solid. We are here to help fill that gap,” Dr. Rutland said in a statement. “We are not in competition with the doctors’ offices or the emergency department. We are a supplement to them both, to help relieve the stress on those two facilities.” The founders are also using the center as an avenue to combat violence in Chicago. They will give some of its profits to an organization called Project Outreach and Prevention which develops programming for at-risk youth in an effort to keep them off the streets and on the right track. There are several Black medical professionals launching urgent care centers designed to help individuals from underserved communities. In 2018, Dr. Tamara Moise and Wadson Fils opened the doors to Big Apple Urgent Care, Brooklyn’s first Black-owned urgent care center.
