In an an interview with NBC 10, Cosby’s press spokesman, Andrew Wyatt , revealed that the comedian said: “My political beliefs, my actions of trying to humanize all races, genders and religions landed me in this place surrounded by barb wire fencing, a room made of steel and iron.” Wyatt added: “When I visit him it’s nothing sad about it. He’s not sad, he’s not remorseful because he did nothing wrong.” Cosby claims he’s innocent and he was railroaded by a system that targets Black men. Black History Makers Today: Tori Franklin Has Her Sights Set On Making It To The Olympics

View original post here:

Source: Tori Franklin / Tori Franklin Senior year of college at Michigan State didn’t go as planned for Tori Franklin . Despite finding her footing as a track and field athlete, Franklin fell into a deep depression. after she suffered through a domestic violence incident with her ex-boyfriend. She failed her classes and it tremendously affected her competing skills. She finished her senior year without a sponsorship or financial support. But a move to Chicago would provide a breath of fresh air and new opportunities. Franklin found a couch and with the support of her family, landed a Nike sponsorship. “Through affirmation things just slowly got better,” Franklin revealed in a candid chat as she reflected on childhood times that were reminiscent of the incident she faced in college. “In my childhood that had happened a lot from people who clearly didn’t care about me. I felt like I had a good enough relationship with [my ex] that he would never do anything to violate me in that way.” The shock of the incident left Franklin crying for months. “I realized I couldn’t live my life that way.” Source: Tori Franklin / Tori Franklin Franklin’s athletic career began at a young age. “I’ve always been an active child,” she explained. “Jumping around on the jungle gym, I did karate to dance classes, basketball, track and field, cross country for a little bit.” In high school, she found out just how far sports could take her. “I was told that I could pursue this in college and it would pay for my education and I was like, I’ll stick with this.” But she didn’t realize her own star potential until her freshman year in college. “I was able to qualify for nationals. I didn’t even know what nationals meant.” Franklin joked. She might not have know what the competition was, but she placed third and “it just went up from there.” She set her eyes on making it to the Olympics. “That became my goal. I wrote Olympics 2016 on everything. Everything.” Source: Tori Franklin / Tori Franklin Franklin admits she gets her positive attitude from her dad and gets her determination from her mother. “Being able to push through things and just being strong willed, that really comes from my mother because she raised four of us. And my grandma, she helped my mother, so I was raised by strong black women and just make it every year was something that I knew that I had in me. It’s just in my blood.” Tori placed 86th in the world, after moving to Chicago but with sheer determination and consistency rose to the fourth rank. And she doesn’t plan on slowing down. Source: Tori Franklin / Tori Franklin “I’ve been saying to myself, this year is that I want to be the boss bitch.” As for the Olympics,  “My goal this year is to do everything a million percent harder and just do what it takes. I know I’m going to be on that team and this is me speaking it into existence. I’m going to be on that team. You’ll see me there.” Tori Franklin broke the U.S. record in the triple jump with her 14.84 m (48 ft  8 1 ⁄ 4  in) performance at the International Meeting Region de Guadeloupe on May 12, 2018. Floyd Mayweather Goes On Gucci Shopping Spree, Stunts On Boycott Efforts

Source: Judy Eddy/WENN.com / WENN Floyd Mayweather has never been one to strike a social justice stance, but few would have expected him to defy a growing notion that Gucci isn’t down with Black people . After the fashion brand’s blackface snafu, Money Mayweather gleefully stunted on the boycott by going on a Gucci shopping spree. TMZ Sports reports : The boxer — along with his entire TMT crew — rolled into Gucci in Bev Hills … and when we told him about all of the stars calling for a Gucci ban over a sweatshirt that resembled blackface, Floyd scoffed. “I’m not no follower, I do what the f*ck I wanna do,” Floyd told us. When we told Floyd that stars like T.I. and Spike Lee would be upset with him, Floyd laughed. “You said they’re gonna be upset with me? I love it, I love it, I love it. See, the thing is this, I live for myself. I do what I want to do.” Outside the store, Floyd and his crew showed off a BUNCH of bags filled with Gucci — dropping a fortune on clothing and accessories. “I’m not a follower,” Floyd added … “You know when everybody else they say, ‘Everybody gonna boycott?’ I say guess what, this boy gonna get on a yacht and live life.” Mayweather defiantly said that he doesn’t see a need to stop shopping at high-end retailers even if they’ve posted offensive material, doing so while evoking the “Black Lives Matter” slogan. Barbie Beatdown: Nicki Minaj And Barbz Blasted, Bruised And Battered BET For Belittling Her Because Bardi Brought Home A Grammy Bust

Source: Apple Music/Beats 1 Radio / Apple Music/Beats 1 Radio Nicki Minaj And Barbz Destroy BET BET really stepped in it this time. On Sunday night they sent out a tweet about Cardi B’s Grammy win and put a caption that Nicki was getting dragged by her lacefront . This caused a ton of backlash over the idea they were pitting women against one another. Nicki Minaj responded by pulling out of her performance in the BET Experience and dragging the hell out of the network. She also singled out the writer and put her picture on blast, which is a terrible thing to do. But, you know, that’s what Nicki Minaj does. BET’s social media team is really bad. The tweets be stale, the jokes be late and that Nicki Minaj tweet that went out is just classless. I’d expect that from a Black Twitter regular, not a media outlet. — JESUS CROYST! (@MrMarinKnows) February 11, 2019 Anyway, back to BET. The Barbz are waging war and it’s uglyyyyyyy. Take a look.

Hi Hater: Donald Glover Deemed “House Slave” By Rapper Jase Harley For Not Attending Grammys

Source: ANGELA WEISS / Getty Donald Glover Called “House Slave” By Jase Harley This Jase Harley guy is still beating the bitter drum of outrage after Childish Gambino took home FOUR Grammys including “Record Of The Year”. According to TMZ , Jase Harley says that Gambino is a “house slave” for not attending the Grammys to speak out on Black issues and more importantly, not going on stage to shout him out for “influencing” the hit song. Maybe Jase should figure out how to make a song that makes him a popular Grammy-winning artist and stop his b!tc#in’ and complaining…

Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty Jennifer Lopez knew she would probably catch a lot of backlash for her tribute to Moton at the 2019 Grammy Awards. What she probably didn’t expect were PLENTY of people who watched at home to be even more upset than you think. Lopez did a medley of Motown hits from the Marvelettes to the Jackson 5 and touching such classics as “Dancing in the Street,” “Do You Love Me,” and “The Best Things in Life Are Free”. N/A. #JLo #GRAMMYs pic.twitter.com/OrB8bPmx7P — Mike Adam (@MikeAdamOnAir) February 11, 2019 Even with Smokey Robinson by her side, it became evident that no matter what J. Lo did on the sage, as electric a performance as it may be, it’s not the type of stage befitting of Motown. First, let’s hear from J. Lo herself. “Any type of music can inspire any type of artist… You can't tell people what to love. You can't tell people what they can and can't do — what they should sing or not sing.” An emotional Jennifer Lopez responds to her critics backstage after her #GRAMMYs Motown tribute. pic.twitter.com/1dK3OEs9OH — Entertainment Tonight (@etnow) February 11, 2019 Even Smokey defended J. Lo saying, “Who’s stupid enough to protest Jennifer Lopez doing anything for Motown?” RELATED: Jennifer Lopez To Participate In Motown Tribute At GRAMMYs RELATED: 2019 Grammys: Watch H.E.R., Janelle Monáe, Chloe x Halle Perform [VIDEO] And now, let’s hear from everybody else who weighed in — and we could only grab the ones that were suitable to share! The irony of the very sexy J.Lo Motown revue is that Berry Gordy had the women of Motown tame their sexy so as to not fall into the Jezebel, highly sexed trope which White America places black women in! So they could have NEVER given a performance like that, ladies at all times! — bevysmith (@bevysmith) February 11, 2019 Diana Ross is somewhere in the building not singing right now while Jennifer Lopez is doing this — rob sheffield (@robsheff) February 11, 2019 I mean, there was NOT ONE single black woman singer in the Dolly Parton tribute and yet the label that was the HOME of black women singers GOT JENNIFER LOPEZ shaking her azz on TV in tribute. I can't. #GRAMMYs — Liz Dwyer (@losangelista) February 11, 2019 With all the great black talent out here that have been clearly inspired by Motown and adjacent, it's REALLY insulting to see Jennifer Lopez up here squawking great music with unnecessary choreography. — Peach Salinger Stan Account (@RPinHD) February 11, 2019 Jennifer Lopez is doing a Motown tribute during Black History Month.
