For The 80s Babies: The Original “GhostBusters” Will Be Back In Theaters Next Month!!!

Finally! Someone has figured out that we can introduce a new generation to 80s classics without the unnecessary remakes! Sony/Columbia has announced via the official Facebook fan page that the original 1984 Ghostbusters will be returning this theaters in October. “It’s time to get your cats and dogs together and prepare for mass hysteria: This October, for the first time in over 25 years, the original and unforgettable Ghostbusters makes its triumphant return to theaters!” There isn’t a full announcement available yet with info on the exact release date, theater information, or any other details, but considering the Facebook page has been hyping it up for a few weeks (with the tagline “MASS HYSTERIA!”), I think this is going to be a big re-release. Digital Spy is claiming that Ghostbusters will hit “cinemas worldwide this Halloween as an all-new digitally-restored release.” There’s also a new video on their Facebook that shows the original trailer with a tag at the end about the upcoming re-release, so it’s definitely happening this Halloween, potentially worldwide. Rumor has it this re-release is just to prep us for “Ghostbusters III.” Will you be checking this out? Source

Twitpic Of The Day: Ashanti, Ja Rule And Young Lloyd Take It Back To 2004

Whenever a major concert happens in New York City, there’s always some random (slightly unnecessary) on-stage reunion. Last night, at that Diddy Dirty Money “Coming Home” show at the Hammerstein Ballroom, that Reunion came courtesy of the house that Irv Gotti built. Ashanti tweeted this pic of herself with her “bra’s” Ja Rule and Young Lloyd following her and Ja’s surprise appearance. First, she and Lloyd performed his debut single “Southside,” then she and Ja Rule took it back to the height of his pre-50 career with “Always On Time.” Click here for more of Ashanti’s twitpics.

From Braids And Beads To Ballin’ At Wimbledon: The Evolution Of Serena Williams

The world was first introduced to Serena Williams when the pre-teen athlete burst onto the scene with her sister Venus donning matching hairstyles and a mouth full of braces. Proving to naysayers that Black girls could have a place in the world of competitive tennis, we’ve seen the younger Williams sister grow before our very eyes—ditching braids and beads and opting for high fashion and flowing weaves. Currently sidelined for a foot injury and previously withstanding surgery for a pulmonary embolism, we can’t wait to see this Williams sister back where she belongs—on the court this fall. Until then, take a look back at the evolution of Serena Williams at HipHopWired.com

Exclusive Details: Is This Why Kyle From Jagged Edge Made Himself Look Like An A** At Q Parker’s Birthday Party?? [Video]

On Tuesday night, Marsha Ambrosius hosted a party in Atlanta celebrating the awesome specimen of man meatiness that is Q Parker on his birthday. It was a very well attended event, with some of the biggest names in Atlanta’s entertainment community in attendance, as you can see in the photos on page 2. That was a great bonus for the audience members, since Q chose to share the spolight, inviting several guests on stage to serenade the crowd. With all of Jagged Edge was present, Q also extended the invitation to them – which would have been a good look, since they are promoting an album or mixtape or something at the moment. For whatever reason, they kept declining. Then someone decided to let Kyle’s drunk/high/super lit a** go be the group’s spokesperson… SMDH. Someone pray for Kyle. He’s clearly going through some stuff. Now, if you’re wondering what R.L. could have possibly been apologizing about, a source tells us that the tension between R.L./Next and Jagged Edge dates back to the late 90s. According to our informant it revolves around an incident involving the girlfriend of one of the members of JE, who was also in a group herself; a surveillance camera; and a late night “mic” session with R.L. in the bathroom. Bet she’s glad sex tapes didn’t leak so easily back then. Can you guess who the girlfriend was? Flip for the pictures.

Bust A Move: Dance Crazes We Used To Love… And Still Do

Dancing was a lot different before booty dancing, also known as grinding up against a dude in the club lackidasically posted on a wall, was all the rage. No worries that someone was going to shine a light in your face and say “break it up!,” no waiting until the lights were turned down low or that a fight could start. Dancing was all in good fun. Both men and women gladly got down on the floor with the help of some of the catchiest dances found in three to four minute music videos on stations like The Box. Hopping backwards doing the “Tom & Jerry,” swinging your arms doing the “cabbage patch” or “the wop,” and running rhythmically in place with “the running man,” once one person saw it, it was like an infection–everyone had to get in on it. So we’re taking a retrospective glance at a few other dances that have had us looking a fool to the older “twist” and “shout” generation, but had us feeling cooler than cool on the dance floor.
