The New York Daily News reported that Rihanna and 50 Cent and “Gossip Girl” actress Leighton Meester have lent their mouths to a campaign to find a donor for baby Ayelet, an upper West Side infant in desperate need of a bone-marrow transplant. [VIDEO] The celebrity do-gooders recently had their cheeks swabbed to see if they’re a match for 1-year-old Ayelet Galena, who suffers from dyskeratosis congenita, a rare life-threatening disease. The hope is that their fans will follow suit and get tested. The now red-headed pop star Rihanna tweeted “Can you help me find a lifesaver for baby Ayelet and other patients? Get swabbed (tested) because maybe You can save a life!”. The infant’s father, Seth Galena, an account supervisor at VLM Advertising, got rapper Pharrell and rock band Linkin Park involved in mid-May.But without a bone-marrow donor, Ayelet won’t survive. It’s not the first time Rihanna has led a campaign to save a sick girl’s life – she offered her support to leukaemia sufferer Jasmina Anema throughout 2009. ‘Bang Bang Club’ Star Malin Akerman Talks Photographers’ Deaths In Libya

‘It is incredible how relevant … this film is to what is going on in Libya,’ she tells MTV News. By Kara Warner MTV News’ Josh Horowitz and Malin Akerman Photo: MTV News Given the recent deaths of photojournalists Tim Hetherington and Chris Hondros, who were killed while covering the battles between rebels and Libyan government forces, the subject matter of the new film “The Bang Bang Club” could not be more timely. The film revolves around the real-life story of four combat photographers who risked their lives to capture the brutality and violence associated with the first free elections in post-apartheid South Africa in the early ’90s. MTV News recently spoke to co-star Malin Akerman about the incredible circumstances now surrounding the film. “It’s crazy. No matter what, whether it be now or two years ago, the untimely death of Tim Hetherington and Chris [Hondros] is sad and really awful and incredible that it happened as this movie is coming out,” she said, adding the fact that no matter where we are in time, there are always civil and religious wars raging in the world. “It’s never the wrong moment to shed light on it,” Akerman said. “It is incredible how relevant … this film is to what is going on in Libya. I hope people come out of this film and go, ‘All right, let’s look overseas and see what’s happening and see what we can do.’ ” Speaking to what motivates this specific “breed” of journalists to consistently put themselves in harm’s way, Akerman said that it’s not just about capturing unforgettable events on film, but also about the adrenaline rush. “They’re crazy. They really are adrenaline junkies,” she said. “I just saw Greg Marinovich, who is one of the photographers [who inspired the film], and he walks around at all times with two cameras. … He never leaves home without his cameras. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Rya Backer Paul McDonald Photo: MTV News Back in 2008, Paul McDonald hadn’t even dreamed of auditioning for “American Idol” and probably had no idea who Nikki Reed was . Instead, he was on tour with his band, the Grand Magnolias, and, on a rare off day, decided to roll into Atlanta to see his manager. Little did he know that infamy awaited. See, on that day, McDonald and his bandmates unwittingly appeared in a rap video for KC Jockey, an artist under the tutelage of Akon. Sadly, much like the video itself, McDonald’s rather amazing cameos (he smiled a lot even back then) went unnoticed — until the singer began making waves on “Idol,” at which point Jockey’s “Rub Your Body” clip quickly made waves across the show’s many fan sites. It is, to be quite honest, one of the most inexplicable things you’ll ever see (McDonald makes his first appearance as a background dancer around the 2:20 mark). And so, when he stopped by the MTV Newsroom last week, we had to ask the beaming crooner just how the rather amazing bit of music history came to be. “This was a rap video that I stumbled into,” he laughed on MTV News’ “Idol Party Live,” which streams live Thursdays at noon on MTV.com. “Back in the day, my manager lived in Atlanta, and we were going to a Raconteurs concert at the Tabernacle, and he lives in this big complex where a bunch of rappers … lived, and we walked in there and they were like, ‘Hey, Akon is filming a video in the penthouse upstairs, you guys should go up and say “what’s up!,” ‘ because he knew we were in a band. “And as soon as we went up, everyone was partying, and they’re like, ‘Guys, come in here! Get in the video!’ So I got in there and, yes, I made my rap-video debut,” he continued. “I thought it was an Akon video the whole time. It ended up being KC Jockey ‘Rub Your Body.’ ” But rather than be embarrassed by his cameo — and, with the dancing he displays, he probably should be — McDonald has come to embrace his brief dalliance into the world of hip-hop. Demi Lovato: I Have a Life-Long Disease…

For the first time since she entered and exited rehab , Demi Lovato has opened up about one of the main reasons for ending up there: she has struggled for years with bulimia. “I don’t think there’s going to be a day when I don’t think about food or my body,” the 18-year old says in the latest issue of Seventeen . “But I’m living with it, and I wish I could tell young girls to find their safe place and stay with it.” Lovato admits there’s no easy way to move on from this disorder. She says: “There have been times when I definitely have been tempted to get rid of my dinner. I will deal with it for the rest of my life because it’s a life-long disease.” Does she have any advice for other teens out there? “If you are going through that dark period, go to your family and closest friends. Don’t put yourself in danger… don’t ever inflict harm on your own body because your body is so sacred. I wish I could tell every young girl with an eating disorder, or who has harmed herself in any way, that she’s worthy of life and that her life has meaning. Downey Justin Theroux in “Your Highness” Photo: Frank Connor ” Your Highness ” stars Danny McBride and Justin Theroux weren’t worried about getting an audience to show up to their zany action/fantasy/comedy flick. The challenge, however, was getting moviegoers to run with their jokes and the liberties taken during filmmaking. As McBride told MTV News , they wanted to make “a legitimate fantasy action movie and then [figure] out how to make it a comedy without blowing the fantasy out of the water and still keeping that.” “At the end of the day, when you’re involved in a movie like this, you want the audience to let go and be able to follow this,” McBride said. “Even in finding a villain like Justin — he destroys that role. He’s awesome at it. For us, even finding humor in a guy who has to fulfill a prophecy and he has all these pressures put on him by his parental figures, we’re just trying to find the humanity and the comedy in all these characters.” Theroux added that for his character, the delightfully sinister and sleazy Leezar, half the fun was playing a different take on a villain. “He’s one of these guys who actually starts strong and then finishes soft, in a great way,” Theroux explained. “He’s all f—ng bluster when he shows up, but by the end he gets more and more human, which is a strange way to go with a villain.
