While presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders been relying solely on the people to fund his campaign, Hillary Clinton been filling up her massive war chest with millions of dollars donated by lobbyists and political action committees aka PACs. Well, no more. Sorta. The former Secretary of State has promised to quit collecting checks from private prison lobbyists and their PACs after receiving mounting pressure from Black Lives Matters and immigration groups. Hillary even plans to donate monies already received to charities. From Buzzfeed : Black Lives Matter and immigration groups have increasingly called for Hillary Clinton to stop taking campaign donations from private-prison lobbyists, a demand highlighted by a recent protest of a Clinton speech from a DREAMer activist in October. On Thursday, a spokeswoman for Clinton said she will no longer accept donations from PACs and lobbyists working on behalf of private prisons. The spokeswoman said in a statement that Clinton believes that this aspect of the criminal justice system is the responsibility of the federal government, and that there is no need for “private industry incentives that may contribute — or have the appearance of contributing — to over-incarceration” in the United States. “That is why the campaign will not accept contributions from federally registered lobbyists or PACs for private prison companies, and will donate any previous direct contributions to charity,” the statement read. “This is only one of many ways that she believes we need to rebalance our criminal justice and immigration systems.” Good move after hubby Bill Clinton admitted he made the nation’s criminal justice system worse by signing a bill that made it mandatory for all felonious criminals to receive life sentences under the federal “three strikes” provision. Obama Backs Black Lives Matter President Obama spoke out in defense of the Black Lives Matter movement on Thursday, pointing out that those voicing concerns over the treatment of Black people at the hands of police officers have legitimate concerns and stressing that it’s unfair to paint activists in the movement as having anti-police sentiments. Via HuffPost : “We as a society, particularly given our history, have to take this seriously,” Obama said of the fact that African-Americans are treated unfairly by the criminal justice system. “The African-American community is not just making this up, and it’s not just something being politicized. It’s real, and there’s a history there.” “We as a society, if we are not investing in opportunity for poor kids, and then we expect just the police and prosecutors to keep them out of sight and out of mind, that’s a failed strategy. That’s a failure on our part as a whole,” Obama said. “If kids in the inner city are not getting treatment and opportunity, that’s as much of a problem as if it’s happening to our kids, and we’ve got to think of all our children in that same way.” The president also addressed “All lives matter,” the frequent response to the “Black lives matter” refrain, saying that organizers of the Black Lives Matter movement were not suggesting black lives are more important than others, but rather that some things happen in black communities that wouldn’t be tolerated in other communities. “I think everybody understands all lives matter,” Obama said. Everybody wants strong and effective law enforcement, he said, and nobody wants to see police officers hurt who are doing their jobs fairly. At least the President gets it! Hopefully the next person to slide into office will understand too…

Both cities are cold as hell in the winter, both cities contain residents who endure a great many hardships and both cities have produced two of the greatest black role models we’ve seen in First Lady Michelle Obama and NBA Champion Lebron James . On Wednesday, these two pillars of the black community came together to impress upon the youth how important their educations are to their future. Really??? Our Presidential Candidates Beef Over Twitter Apparently Republican Presidential candidates Jeb Bush and Donald Trump think Twitter is the place to handle conflict. In a recent interview with Daily Mail , Donald made some side-eye worthy comments about 9/11 and pretty much blamed George Bush for letting the tragedy happen at all. Here’s a snippet of his statement: “When you talk about George Bush – I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time.” He added, “He was president, okay?” “Blame him or don’t blame him, but he was president. The World Trade Center came down during his reign.” Jeb didn’t take too kindly to the comments made about his big brother. Twitter Parents And Students Gather After Viral Clip Shows Teen Being Slammed By The Neck By School Resource Officer These are the cops that are supposed to be protecting our high school children. Parents and students gathered this week outside of Tolman High School in Rhode Island, where earlier, a teenager was recorded being violently slammed by the neck by a school resource cop. According to T he Root , the officers says the teen’s brother was being disruptive at dismissal and was escorted to the school’s office. There, the brother was cuffed on the ground after he wouldn’t settle down. Then the teen entered the office, where officers say he threw a punch and was slammed to the ground. Wow, the way he was slammed looks like it hurt his little body. It’s a short clip, but the teen appears to have his back to the officer before he slams him. Florida Cop Says “People Will Die” Over Obama’s Police Ban Of Military Vehicles Oh, the dramatics… Ever since President Barack Obama signed a piece of legislation banning all military vehicles from police departments nationwide, the boys in blue have all had sad faces. Via Orlando Sentinel “For some agencies, this is all they can afford,”(Volusia County Sheriff Ben) Johnson said, “leaving their people on potential suicide missions.” Volusia’s tracked vehicle can go through terrain that others with wheels can’t, he said. The department doesn’t use it every day, but it has taken bullets for deputies, and the ban is “taking a valuable piece of equipment out of our fleet,” Johnson said. “People will die because of this decision,” he said. Says another of Ben Johnson’s blue brethren… Osceola County Sheriff Bob Hansell said he’s disappointed with the ban and not having the vehicle will have an effect on certain operations. “This vehicle is used to rescue citizens and protect deputies against armed aggressor(s) during critical incidents,” he said in a statement. “Law enforcement is trained and experienced to effectively utilize this equipment and it will have an impact on our responses to emergency situations.” Apparently, before police gained access to the vehicles that roam the middle east, law enforcement officials had no idea how to keep officers from getting killed. Apparently, these tanks are the only thing standing in between a cop’s forhead and a hot slug from a Glock. Kinda makes you wonder how police fought crime for the past 500 years… Image via AP
