Source: Chicago Tribune / Getty 10 More Released In “Mass Exoneration” Due To Crooked Chicago Cop Former Chicago police officer Sgt. Ronald Watts was such a dirty piece of s#!t that a Cook County judge along with State’s Attorney Kim Foxx have freed yet another 10 men from imprisonment behind false arrests. According to the Chicago-Sun Times , those 10 newly released men bring the total number of freed inmates to 63…SIXTY-THREE! Says Sean Starr of the Exoneration Project at the University of Chicago Law School: “When the system fails one of us, it fails every single one of us,” Starr said at a news conference after a brief court hearing before Chief Criminal Court Judge LeRoy K. Martin Jr. “Their stories are just the latest examples of a calculated, feigned ignorance on behalf of the Chicago Police Department of the victimization of black and brown, lower-income communities in Chicago. As citizens of the city, we need to demand more, we need to demand accountability.” In 2012 Watts and partner Kallatt Mohammed were caught and charged with stealing $5,000 from a federal informant who was recording the entire shakedown. That sting was set up because Watts and co. had been accused of targeting minorities living in the Ida B. Well housing projects for fugazi drugs busts and bogus arrests. How did these phony-a$$ arrests affect the people who were imprisoned and their loved ones, you ask? Well, allow us to tell you: Derrick Lewis, who twice was sent to prison after Watts’ officers planted drugs on him, spent a total of more than seven years in prison. The convictions made his then-fiancée question his character, and she left him for another man while he was locked up. Though both his arrests took place more than a decade ago, Lewis said he still suffers because of his time behind bars. “We lost things that you can never get back,” said Lewis, who protested that he was innocent from the moment he was arrested. “We have a right to feel how we feel, now that it’s coming out that we were actually telling the truth.” It’s an evil world we live in. SMFH.

According to NY Daily News , Metropolitan Nashville Police identified three of the teens in a Friday news release as Roniyah McKnight, 14, Diamond Lewis, 15, and Decorrius Wright, 16. The other suspects are a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy. Tennessee law prohibits the identification of juveniles under age 13. Reports say Yorlets was shot outside his Nashville home Thursday afternoon. Police believe the kids forced the man to hand over his wallet then shot him after he refused to give up his car. The kids got away in a stolen red Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck and was later abandoned. Kyle Yorlets was a Pennsylvania native, Belmont University graduate and was a singer in the pop/rock band Caverton. In the incident, all five teens will charged with criminal homicide.
Source: Robert Alexander / Getty Broward County Cop Seen On Bodycam Calling Black Man “Boy” And Cursing Police will never get the respect they think they so richly entitled to and it’s their own damn fault. This story in the Miami Herald will illustrate exactly why this is. Deputy James Cady, an officer with a sordid history of making false arrests, is seen on bodycam footage berating a Black man, Allen Floyd, who is holding his infant son. Broward County’s bacon-wrapped-boy-in-blue cursed at Floyd repeatedly and called him “boy” more times than we can count. The incident happened in July of 2017 but only became public knowledge last month. Florida @BrowardSheriff cop with history of making false arrests harasses, curses at black father calmly holding his baby, repeatedly calls him “boy.” SEE FULL VIDEO AT https://t.co/oRNcDRb0JH pic.twitter.com/a5fYB8AoK8 — Billy Corben (@BillyCorben) February 9, 2019 Public defender Howard Finkelstein wrote a letter to new Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony to let it be known that Cady is a piece of s#!t who is out of order. He didn’t use those exact words, but that’s our less-tempered interpretation. “Deputy Cady’s verbal assault coupled with him choking an otherwise cooperative bystander can only be characterized as unlawful touching,” Finkelstein wrote. “In addition, Deputy Cady’s use of the term “boy” is offensive, condescending and demeaning. It carries racial connotations when used while addressing an adult black male.” Cady has been under investigation by Internal Affairs since 2003 for one reason or another, not so surprisingly, none of those investigations resulted in any significant discipline. F**k 12.
Source: Robin Platzer / Getty Warner Wolf Arrested For Defacing Racist Name Of His Gated Community There’s a lot of white folks these days posing as “allies” who at one point enjoyed a little Blackface , but we think we found one that we can believe in. According to TMZ , iconic sportscaster Warner Wolf was arrested at his Naples, Florida (HEY! FINALLY A DECENT HUMAN FROM FLORIDA!) for defacing the sign outside his swanky, private, gated community. Wolf lives in a neighborhood called “Classic Plantation Estates”, a name that he has been lobbying the homeowners association to remove because it’s racist as hell. Heh, good luck convincing white people in Florida that racism is bad. Being that his protest fell on deaf ears, he took matters into his own hands on November 30. Standing in the bougie fountain outside the gates, Wolf chipped away at the “plantation” part until it was removed. Wolf was subsequently arrested and charged with criminal mischief for over $1,000 in damages and was released on $5,000 bond. Salute to a real one.

Source: Mark Wilson/Getty Images / Getty Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring Admits Blackface, Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax Accused Of Sexual Assualt Throw the whole state away. There’s more political strife in Virginia in the midst of the Virginia Governor blackface scandal. As previously reported Democratic Governor Ralph Northam (above) was outed by a right-wing website who published a photo from Northam’s medical school yearbook that shows him in blackface and standing next to a man in a KKK outfit. He at first admitted that it was him in the photo but then recanted . There are now feverish calls for him to step down, calls that he’s casually ignoring. Now the third in line to be Governor if Northam steps down is confessing that he too has worn blackface. Attorney General Mark Herring admitted Wednesday that he wore blackface to dress up like a rapper at an 80s college party. Source: Katherine Frey/Washington Post via Getty Images / Getty In a statement obtained by CNBC , he said that while an undergraduate at the University of Virginia “some friends suggested we attend a party dressed like rappers we listened to at the time, like Kurtis Blow, and perform a song.” “It sounds ridiculous even now writing it. But because of our ignorance and glib attitudes – and because we did not have an appreciation for the experiences and perspectives of others – we dressed up and put on wigs and brown makeup, Herring said. “This was a onetime occurrence and I accept full responsibility for my conduct.” Just four days ago Herring criticized Governor Northham and said “it is no longer possible” for him to remain in office. If you couldn’t believe that things would get much worse, hold onto your wigs. Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax, also a Democrat, has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman at the Democratic National Convention in 2004. Fairfax is second in line to be Governor. Source: Paul Morigi/Getty Images / Getty That woman, Vanessa Tyson, an associate professor of politics at Scripps College in California, has hired Christine Blasey Ford’s legal team to represent her. Fairfax has denied her accusation and said what happened between them was “consensual.” If all three of the Democrats resign, the next Virginia Governor will be Republican Kirk Cox. Cox is the current state’s speaker of the House of Delegates. All top VA officials wore blackface except for the one with a black face who has been accused of sexual assault. Is that…accurate? — Felonious Munk IS Blackface (@Felonious_munk) February 6, 2019 Now, THIS is a mess. Who do YOU think will be Virginia’s next Governor when Northam (finally) resigns???
Source: Spencer Platt / Getty One New York Resident Gives A Chilling Account Another moment of police terror reportedly went down in New York last year, and now a resident of the city is taking action. According to New York Daily News , a Brooklyn cop, who’s been accused of years of civil rights violations and false arrests, is once again being sued for excessive conduct. Evelyn Gonzalez, 51, who works as a security guard is accusing Sgt. David (Bellethead) Grieco of carrying out an early-morning raid at her Brownsville apartment, then arresting her and a family friend Tray Stroman, 27, on trumped-up charges that were dropped before they even got a chance to appear before a judge. Gozalez has filed a notice of claim and according to their lawyer, if a settlement is not agreed upon, they will file a lawsuit in state court alleging wrongful arrest. The whole incident went down shortly after 7 a.m. on April 13, 2018 when Gonzalez was asleep in her room and Stroman, who works in a barbershop, was resting on the couch. Emergency Service cops tried to bust through the front door so one of Gonzalez’s four children, Joseph Cordova, 24, left from his bed to open it. That’s when police rushed in with Grieco and other officers having their guns drawn, according to Gonzalez and Stroman. Neither Gonzalez nor Storman have ever been arrested, however Cordova has been arrested ten times, including two cases that are still pending for possession of a knife and for possession of drugs. He was convicted in 2014 for weapons possession, for which he received five years probation. Cordova, who isn’t apart of the lawsuit, and his mother believe the raid was part of an ongoing attempt to harass Cordova, considering that past charges against him didn’t stick. The cops allegedly swept through the apartment, flipped a living room table, and broke two televisions AND a humidifier that Gonzalez needs for her asthma. The cops also allegedly rampaged through the kitchen, dumping coffee and oatmeal on the floor. “They even ate my bananas,” Gonzalez said. Stroman, who posts rap videos online, went on to say the cops plugged their phones into a speaker and listened to his music. “I’m like, ‘Is this a warrant for music?” Stroman said. “I was lost.” It’s not clear if the cops even had a warrant to search the apartment. Gonzalez said when she asked, the cop tried to use a restaurant flyer to pass as a warrant. Gonzalez and Stroman said Grieco continually asked about guns and drugs, indicating the cops were tipped off. However, no guns or narcotics were found. The police only focused on one marijuana joint in the living room and two in a bedroom. Cordova admitted that he does smoke marijuana. The nightmare continued after the raid when Gonzalez said that she, Cordova and Stroman were handcuffed and taken into custody. Gonzalez said she and Stroman spent around 18 hours in custody and she said the police didn’t even give her access to her medicine. When they finally got out, The Brooklyn District Attorney’s office declined to prosecute them. Cordova was charged with marijuana possession and possession of a forged credit card, but the case was adjourned and dismissed soon after. Gonzalez says when she got home, $800 was missing from a jacket in her closet – money she said she was saving for her two granddaughters. On top of all this, Gonzalez’s Brownsville apartment is covered by the 73rd Precinct, but they were taken to the 67th Precinct where Grieco is assigned. No one has yet to explain why Grieco was carrying out a raid in a precinct he wasn’t even assigned to, although investigations do often cross precinct lines. Grieco, 48, has a long history of being an ain’t sh** officer, including searching two homes without a warrant and being involved in a 2013 75th Precinct investigation. The anti-crime unit at the time was accused of illegal apartment searches and the theft of jewelry and thousands of dollars, according to court papers, Internal Affair docs and police sources. Over the years, Grieco has been the defendant in 29 lawsuits. But yet… This man is still on the force. Gonzalez’s and Stroman’s lawyer Joel Berger said, “For this cowboy to still be on the force is outrageous. He should have been terminated years ago. The fact that he hasn’t been is really indicative of the travesty the NYPD discipline system is.” Grieco is currently a sergeant who was one of NYPD’s top overtime earners in 2017. His $73,000 of extra pay upped his salary to $190,000 and last year he made $164,700. Out of the 29 lawsuits against Grieco, 16 of them were settled, costing the city more than half-million dollars.
Source: Prince Williams / Getty Sign The Petition To Help Free 21 Savage From ICE Custody 21 Savage has become a victim of this anti-immigrant political climate helmed by the Trump administration. If you listened to the #SOTU address last night then you know that the idea of 21 being deported from America would make these Republican a$$holes smile like the Grinch stealing Christmas. Despite the shameless people on Twitter who think this is hilarious, there are people who are treating this situation with the seriousness it deserves. The folks at Since The 80s, Black Lives Matter, Color of Change, BAJI (Black Alliance For Just Immigration), Define American, UndocuBlack Network have launched a petition directed at ICE Field Office Director, Sean Gallagher for the immediate release of the Atlanta father, son, friend and superstar. They are asking for 300,000 signatures and they are sitting on 221,776 at the time of this writing. We ask, beg, and implore each and every one of you to sign this petition and do all you can to make your voice heard on behalf of Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph. 21’s manager Meezy recently tweeted that he spoke to Savage on the phone and was told that the rapper is being locked down for 23 and 1, which means only ONE hour outside of his cell per day. They are clearly trying to break him, but we’re not going to let that happen. Go to OrganizeFor to sign the petition. Dead the corny “jokes” and do something good with your life.
Source: Sacramento Bee / Getty Stephon Clark’s Family Files Federal Lawsuit Stephon Clark was gunned down in his grandmother’s backyard by two Sacramento police officers who failed to identify themselves and failed to seek medical attention for him according to a new federal lawsuit filed by Stephon’s family. According to CNN , the Clarks, like so many Black families across America, are looking for some level of accountability from police officers who wanton kill, dare we say murder, unarmed Black people. The lawsuit not only alleges that the unidentified officers used excessive force when they fired 20 shots without a single warning, but also that Stephon was racially profiled. Of the twenty shots fired, seven of them hit Stephon, three of those in his back according to the Clark family’s forensic pathologist. “When the facts are fully disclosed, we are confident that a jury will deliver justice that reflects how grossly the police land city officials failed Stephon, his family and the people of Sacramento,” Brian Panish an attorney for Clark’s children said in a statement. What does the city have to say about this? “Out of deference to the judicial process and because this is a matter of active litigation, we must respectfully decline to comment,” City Attorney Susana Alcala Wood said in a statement. Of course. SMH. We hope the Clark family can get some form of justice out of this murderous abuse of power.
Source: bortonia / Getty Durham, NC Minister And Activist Proposes Black Community Self Segregate For BHM Here’s an interesting proposition — for 28 days — the entire month of February , one activist is suggesting that the black community turn our focus on supporting black owned businesses and educating black youth about black history and culture. “We need to build a wall around Black culture,” Paul Scott a Durham NC minister and activist, said via a release sent to BOSSIP. Scott believes that Black people were better off socially, politically and economically better off during the era of segregation. Scott, who gained national recognition for his comments in a 2018 NY Times article about gentrification whitening Durham , NC also argues that black history has been whitewashed to make white Americans more comfortable. He also believes that the Black movement for social equality has been hijacked by other groups. “Everyone has benefited from our tears and pain except us,” says Scott. Do you agree or disagree? Would you be willing to self-segregate for Black History Month just to see if those actions would improve the state of the Black community. Continue reading →
